I'll keep that in mind! My goal is to get the GSX road ready by end of summer, otherwise I'll be rolling up in my WRX so hopefully I don't get too much crap for that!
Cheers from one Indy DSMer to another! This build thread is an emotional roller coaster, which about sums up DSM ownership I think. While my story isn't as exciting of a roller coaster as yours, it's had its ups and downs no less, but just got bit by the bug again so hoping to start tearing...
Just read this all the way through for the first time, and I must say, AMAZING build man. Definitely keep up the good work! Reading this really makes me want to go out to the garage and work on mine, but it's too damn cold!! WTF is with this winter storm in spring crap? hahaCan't wait to see...
Technically it should work, but you may or may not have to cut down the 4g63 one. The end with the loop/bend on it is close to 2 inches longer than it is on the 420a models.Like previous stated I'd check out a junk yard. Plenty of 420a models there when I tend to go.
Maybe this is me being a n00b but how does a hose go to the o2 sensor??I'm with pauleyman, looks like a vacuum control box for a boost controller off an HKS EVC4http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/Tjr-Wtl1oYw/hqdefault.jpgBetter picture:http://elitejdm.com/products/284/
I'm not sure as to how it would turn out since I haven't done it myself, but I've been seeing the idea of using Plastidip Smoke and then a clear gloss over the taillights.Supposedly you get the same tint effect of nightshades, but if the cops give you any trouble, its a matter of just...
He already said that he doesn't think it's the window, rather the door itself.OP I'm miguelmcv on getting a pic up. From what I think you are referring to, the part of the door that the speakers bolt to, that shouldn't be rattling at all. I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that is...
Hey Gofer thanks for the write up man, I now know what my weekend project is. The battery relocation of some kind has been on my to do list for awhile now. I was debating moving it to the trunk but I like the idea of keeping it in the bay better (for now at least)
I'm going to end up replacing all the grey leather/vinyl on the panels now with black leather or vinyl, whichever it is haha. I figured it would be a pain in the ass but I plan on breaking the panel down to individual pieces. I'm hoping it'll be easier to do it that way than try pushing the...
I've seen that tutorial but how different is it from a 2g? My guess is not by much since I also have a sunroof.Bud92GSX, you say the door panels are just as easy? I was hoping to get an all black interior in my car eventually but the local junk yards are crap and I haven't had any luck...
I've never heard of this hair spray trick but apparently I need to try it.OP is there any chance your TB seals are leaking? I know when mine were going bad before I replaced them I was having intermittent boost leak issues depending on what RPM I tried accelerating at.
I'm with Crash on this one. I have my gauges wired to that as well and have never had any issues. I would say its more than likely a deck connection issue.
I actually just finished putting the new ball joints in on my car. Didn't realize until I started unbolting things that my curved control arms (forget what they are called exactly) look like they are leaking at the ball joint there as well.Glad yours didn't give out while going faster or...
My question is sort of off topic, but when replacing the VC gasket if RTV is used, is there any chance of the extra goo putting pressure and bending the gasket one way or another when the cover is torqued back down properly?I replaced mine and did something similar to what Deadpool mentioned...
How to replace emergency brake shoes - Lx Forums | Dodge Charger Challenger Magnum | SRT8 | Chrysler 300 ForumNot the same car but it should follow relatively the same procedure. Worst case grab a Haynes or Chiltons if you don't already have one and they will walk you through it pretty well.
That almost looks like a flat gray if my screen isn't messing with my eyes. I never thought I'd be a fan of a flat colored DSM, but I've noticed more and more flat black ones popping up and it is starting to grow on me. I wouldn't mind a flat gray at all.
Glad that was the only problem and not something more serious haha. Gotta love the previous owner mods right?Edit: I hear you on the mosquitoes. Apparently my parents thought it would be a good idea to build a house on a plot of land that is half swamp.
Other downsides could include bad O2 sensors, first one of which is obviously important, and if it is rich enough I'm pretty sure you can wash out the rings.
Guess I'm somewhat lucky I'm at a good engineering school then because most of the tuners around here are Evos, STIs, etc. we have our fair share of fart can civics and skittles but most of them understand what the turbo awd cars are so they stay away haha.
Meh, I figured that's what I'd end up having to do but was kinda hoping I was doing something wrong haha.Looks like I'm leaving it unplugged unless I happen to find a sensor for less than $5.Thanks for the quick reply.
Hate to bring back an old thread, but I just thawed out my reservoir (was frozen into a solid chunk of ice) and now the damn light is on.This is the first time I've seen this light on my car. I know my reservoir is full so how do I get this light to turn off? I just unplugged the sensor...
When I was having issues getting off my post-cat sensor, I ended up going in to an exhaust shop and they broke it for me for no charge. One piece of advice the guy gave me is with o2 sensors is tighten them up first. That way it should break any rust free and give you more momentum for when...
Yea I wouldn't mess around with those at all. If you are worried about throwing a CEL with modified exhaust you can always get an o2 spacer that just extends and pulls the o2 sensor away from the direct flow of exhaust.AMS O2 Sensor SpacerObviously you don't need to go with AMS, just put...
It looked alright to me, yea 6 owners is kinda ridiculous but who knows.Sorry you didn't win it, but take your time looking man. I found my GSX on ebay... paid 5k for it, bought from the original owner with only 42k original miles on it. Spent about 6 months looking for the right one...
Ha this kinda makes me laugh because I can imagine how annoyed I'd be with this. Fortunately, I've never had this issue with any of my 2Gs.I would probably agree with Crash89 about the driver side getting more wear on it, especially if you normally drive alone. Definitely still seems odd...
It's definitely interesting, but not worth it if you ask me. I was a poor college student too, so I got a job. Pretty quick fix for when you are lacking in money...I give you props for being innovative definitely, but I would have just done what others have said and gotten a 1g BOV for $20...
Yeah it sounds like you should be ok as long as you take care of proper maintenance on her.On a side note I've never heard that the 95s were less prone to cw. My understanding was that the 99s were less prone to it but I could be wrong.Yea as long as you take care of regular maintenance she...
+1. I've heard plenty of people running these with zero issues and zero complaints. And at a fraction of the cost how can you really complain?I would really only go with the FP if you planned on upgrading the turbo now or in the near future. Otherwise a cheaper eBay knockoff should be...
What are you trying to sell it for? From my experience with selling cars, people will bi*** and moan to you about the price it is set at compared to what KBB lists it at. Obviously no one really sells DSMs based off of KBB prices, but a lot of people will see it as a car that old isn't worth...
