So one of my buddies ended up actually over torquing the crankshaft sprocket bolt, and cracked the balance shaft sprocket. We had a very hard time taking off the sprockets and we were left to find that the crank shaft "stub" seems to be pushed back making a right-angle triangle vs a flat...
Hey guys,Well I'm finally getting around to do my first timing belt job (engine still in the car) and I've been doing a ton of research in reading and watching videos. But I just wanted to consult to make sure I got everything right.Anyway, my lovely stretched and edge-cut timing belt is...
So today when I was just about to leave for school, I found my self unable to unlock the door. Although the key would slide in, it would only turn left to lock.... And I knew the door was stuck... Again. So I tried the passenger side. Door unlocked, but the door was just as stubborn as the...
For the most part, a stock MAF will most likely be more than sufficient for your setup. For me, one of the benefits is running blow-through. Yes, this means you can vent properly, but if you plan on running high boost, you'll probably end up blowing a coupler off every now and then. With draw...
It could be your ECU... It went out when I was driving and literally shut off on the freeway... It wouldn't even roll start.IMG 0848 - YouTubeIMG 0851 - YouTubeMine was a 1g. I'm not sure if the 2g's do the same thing, but a small indicator to check for a healthy ECU is that the...
If you open up your hood and have your car idle and you rev it up a bit and you see some smoke coming out, the turbo seals are blown and burning oil. You'd also be seeing smoke coming out of the exhaust.
Installing an EPROM ECU won't give you any tuning or performance benefits... It'd behave just like any other ECU. Getting link or a chip for your ECU is what gives you a tune. If you're stock, leave it be. You don't have to worry about tuning for now.
If it's completely stock, I would just take out the AFC.Also, you shouldn't be tuning "seat-of the pants" method. Although things may "sound good" and "feel good" you have no idea if you're running rich or lean. This will lead to poor gas milage and poor performance... You're better off...
check the classifieds and also freelancer services. Search for "TurboAnything" He does all my ECU work. He's local in my area and his prices are very good.If you need it right away, you can try a local TV or electronics repair shop. I wouldn't pay over 50 bucks for recapping services...
You can get a chip for any size injectors...When I got my chip for my 880cc and set my MAF-T for stock injectors it would run pig rich. If its not a boost leak, and it's doing it in boost, it could be that you're running too rich. You'll also might want to upgrade to bigger wires and try new...
Don't get me wrong, you're definitely going to need to log, but logging with a laptop is a little bit more difficult to get up and running....Basically what I mean is that you'll actually have better luck trying to tune with an OLDER laptop. You'd want XP (from my experiences, you can't just...
you can go to the forums on 1glink.com and check out the forums. Also you can email Eric Kosek (who runs 1glink) and is very friendly. He's local in my area, so he hooked me up a good deal.Honestly, just pick up a palm IIIc from him and call it a day. I was trying to figure out how to make...
Sure the GM MAF wasn't originally designed as a blow-through but it simply as accurate as a draw-through. This is a different argument. You're going to have your own opinion backed up with your own experiences. Same applies to me. My experiences is that if you take two different cars with the...
hey guys,I ended up getting a chip to help compensate for the injectors. Still a pain in the ass to tune, but it's a lot better. I'm sure I could of gotten it to work, but the way it was going, the MAF-T was tuned at nearly 150cc's less (had it around 700-730cc) to get it to run decent...
I have nearly the same exact setup in the same situation and I just did this last weekend...I got a 90 and I just put in a 91-94 ECU with eprom for PTE 880cc injector compensation with revised timing, 8k rev limit, etc.First of all, you're going to want to keep the MAF-T. The chip...
Double check the tension on the BOV because since it's not recirculated, you might be losing boost there (as well as potentially other places). You probably had a bad boost leak prior to the installation, but with the new plumbing, the turbo will be able to spool faster. If it's spooling...
Hey guys,setup:
90 eclipse
FMIC
20lbs boost 14b
MAFT v2.01 w/ 3'' GM-MAF
walbro 190
880cc injectorsI'm having some trouble WOT tuning. I have the AUX at 2, base at 6 (off the sheet), and basically, if I put any setting to make it run rich, the car hits fuel cut at around 5k RPM. If...
For labor at a reputable DSM shop that doesn't sound that bad, IMO.I got quoted $505 for parts and labor for my timing job. 190 for the labor, and the rest is all parts.. but then again, I know the guy, and he doesn't work to get rich. That replaced the Tensioner, timing belt, waterpump...
Basically a wideband gauge uses a wideband o2 sensor that is screwed into a bung that is welded somewhere on the down pipe. It needs to be at least 2? (not sure of the exact measurement) feet from the turbo. The process is relatively simple... First determine a spot on the down pipe, drill into...
I did replace the o-ring and even the c-clamp. The flange weld is fine, it's just the primary valve opens prematurely in boost. I have the older design with the tension screw and tightening/loosening it doesn't fix my problem.
You really don't need a MAF-T unless you want to vent (hence why I actually got one... The noise is fun, but money could of been spent better else where). The stock MAF, especially the 2g, is more than adequate and it'll be a long time before you out flow it.I would look somewhere else for a...
Your setup is completely fine. You'll definitely max out the injectors before maxing the turbo, but you can really push a lot of the turbo stil with the stock injectors.Coming from my experiences with my 14b, the 14b flows a little less than a T28. I ran my 14b with 19PSI on my stock...
Definitely get a new fuel pump. Sounds like you got a lot of good mods across the table, but a fuel pump should definitely be something considering next. If you want to play it safe, go with a walbro 190. Personally, and knowing many other fellow DSMers, you can run a 255 without many problems...
I assume the turbo housing is a TD05H, not t50oh... And there are many turbos with that housing... are you referring to a 14b, 16g, etc.Regardless, if you're not building boost, it's because of-Boost leak
-Problem with the setup of a boost controller (or the unit itself)
-Wastegate...
look around, there is a ton of stuff on the forums on how to make your own/how to do it.Yes, it will cause fuel cut... Basically, with a boost leak, your MAF is reading more air than what is actually coming in. The false amount of air is triggering the ECU's fail safe (fuel cut).This...
Hey guys,So I finally finished up installing a 190 walbro on my FWD. All went well up until the last minute when I was bringing the gas tank back up, the passenger side stud that holds one of the straps snapped... I have no idea what to do and Im not exactly sure if it's safe to drive...
I'm running 880ccs with just a MAF-T. Really, any piggyback device shouldn't be used with larger injectors than the stated 650ccs, but it can be done. My car runs great , aside from a swaying idle, but it still goes smooth and the ECU compensates for any of the problems.
The purpose of the Air Flow Meter (AKA MAF or MAS) is to measure the amount of air the comes into the engine. The ECU uses this measurement of air to release a measurement of fuel through the fuel injectors (So Basically, fuel is the controlled substance in relation to incoming air. Fuel is...
Lifter tick doesn't affect the performance, so it really isn't a problem unless if it's messing with your knock sensor (which I highly doubt it would be).1g lifters are going to tick- unless if you're lucky, like me, and manage to have a pretty quiet set. If it's really bothering you, you...
I've been using my DSM as a daily driver but has been modded quite a bit throughout it's time, and I'm still in the process of it...Short and simple, before considering anything, definitely do maintenance. If you're looking for a 500whp, always replace with OEM or better- ESPECIALLY WITH THE...
Are you sure it wasn't originally an RS? The pics make is seem like the rear has brake drums, and the picture doesn't have the proper angle to show if the stock boost gauge is on it.
NEVER USE OIL ADDITIVES. Some may disagree, but this is my personal moral belief...I have the OEM lifters still in my car, and I hardly (if any) get lifter tick even when I used 10w-30. But really, you should be using thicker oil... try 20w-50 oil (kendall 20w-50 natural with added zinc...
You will get a "fish" like smell if the melting was bad... but it seems like the board, for the most part, is ok...But what you really need to do is look around the Capacitors. Those are the black cylinder like things that sit between the two small standing circuit boards. Press on them/...
It's definitely the ECU. I can say with almost absolute certainty that it is leaky caps. I agree with what you said too- I'm surprised it even started. Anytime my stock boost gauge wouldn't reset to 0, it wouldn't start. However, if I ever let my car sit around for a little bit, my car would end...
I figured I'd drop my two cents on this...This just happened to me a few weeks ago. The problem is in fact the ECU. When you get the chance, when the car stalls out on you, and you try to start it back up, notice the stock boost gauge... A "healthy" ECU will have the boost gauge bounce to "0"...
I'm actually very surprised your car started up..I literally just ran into the problem a few weeks ago. It ended up being a bad ECU. The reason why I'm thinking it's a bad ECU is because when the key is flipped to "on" the stock Boost gauge should bounce to 0.I only had your symptoms once...
Hey guys,I got new injectors from eBay the other night, and I was told they were PTE/Precision 880cc Injectors. Here are some Pictures..http://i52.tinypic.com/259izy0.jpg
http://i51.tinypic.com/2rc65ib.jpgThe P/N is 4215 17113743After doing research, I'm trying to figure out if...
Hey guys,I'm located in Aurora which is about 30 miles west of chicago.I just installed my MAF-T on my 1990 eclipse GS-T, and it idles and cruises pretty well. However, I do NOT have a logger/link/wbo2 to tune it with. I'm asking for someone to bring a pocket logger and help me tune it...
90 91 92 93 94 ECLIPSE 1G SUPER LED WINGS WEST SPOILER | eBayHey guys, please dont bash. I'm restoring my 1990 eclipse gs-t and I love the style of the 2nd gen high rise spoiler. I really hate the look of the really crappy riced spoilers, but I really like the factory oem high rise look. I...
hey guys,I'm really into my car, and originally it was tan. I love the black DSM's a year back, so I thought it'd be cool to try to paint it myself. Yeah, bad idea. So this year, i've been strictly working on preparing the car for a professional paint job. Why did I choose to do this myself...
hey guys,For the past week I noticed when the car would idle at a light for an extended time it would overheat. The annoying part is that I would have to use the AC fan to cool it down. Eventually, I realized that I didn't hear the radiator fan spinning, so I took a look around...
Do you have any idea how to get the paperclip out? It's pretty much flush in there now. I tried to vice the lifter to pump out some of the oil and it worked, but the paper clip didn't budge
Hey guys,I was trying to clean the lifters for the first time. When I was cleaning them, I ended up breaking the paperclip and about half of it is in the lifter. Do you think it'll be fine just to put it back in the car or.... what? The top is like completely sealed because of the broken...
I hear it's a good upgrade for the 1st gens considering how much less restrictive they are. At least, that's what people said across the forums. I've heard something to the tune of 20% more air with a 2nd gen MAF.and I'm running the stock... 14b, I believe.
Hey fella's,I'm the kinda guy who knows how an engine works, but definitely doesn't want to get his hands dirty. I'm looking at something towards bolt ons in order to get myself rollin with stronger horsepower. I know it might sound ridiculous to some, but I find it more safe to do something...
Hey,I'm glad you running pretty much what I wanted. Just curious... How much HP are you running after that mod?Well the eclipse that we have went through about 3 engines. Timing belt broke on 2/3, and the 3rd (current one) was rebuilt by my grandpa about 2 years ago, so I assume everything...
