the clutch in the compressor is going out or the freon level is probably out of spec. turn on your a/c and see if it stops making the noise. if so it is the clutch if no then it is the pressure switch for the compressor or low pressure inside the system.

my a/c compressor sounded that way, could never tell where it was. until it went. It would make this wishy washy sound is the best i could explain it. But since it went I removed every piece of a/c stuff under the hood all better. :) but it still could be low oil level in transmission or bad...
how do you know this water sound as you call it is coming from there while you are driving? If it is coming from there the issue is probably directly related to the slipping! fuel trim code is boost leaks or a map or temp sensor more than likely. Like habitat said you will have to do a full...
also check adapter where the oil pressure sensor and oil feed tube plug in these can get knocked loose, my adapter had both problems.:( center bolt and oil pressure sensor were loose.
