Well i found a cheap good condition pontiac acadian so I decided not to mid engine swap my other colt. Its unfortunately extremely heavy at 2250 lbs, full interior both bumpers etc. so 100-150 more than the smart car. So far so good its winter here in sask so obviously not chasing 10s anytime...
Oh and im building another car just to try for a 10.99 on the 6cm. The smart car could do it, i dont doubt it. It has done 11.58@115, its just very scary to do passes in. I might have said all this already sorry if i have plan is to mid engine swap my 1981 dodge colt. It should be about 2000...
Good to see some action on here!
What kind of lb/min have you guys logged? My smart car has been capped at 29 lb/min forever. I dont really care as the car is too sketchy anyways but id like to know why. Its probably just all that intercooler piping
There is no chance it would fit in the unmodified original chassis im sure je knows that. It would definitely work with some modifications. Worst case is youd have to tube frame the whole front end, use talon steering rack and suspension. Probably wound wind up having to change rear diffs as...
Thank you both but i cant take too much credit its not an original idea there was a guy on here who already did it of course! In 2015ish the thread is still here but all the pics are down. He is from Venezuela and it went inactive, never got any videos. It had a 50 trim and he kept his...
No its a 2006 smart car. I love building dumb stuff and light 14b cars are just cheap. This car wont ever get anything bigger its too fast as is. Way too short of wheelbase to be doing 120 mph in
Really surprised to get an 11 on the 14b! This is aincient rock hard all season tires, 91 pump with 1/3 can of vp octanium so my guess is 93-94 octane.
(this is an 06 smart car), wheelied maybe 1/2 inch it was a perfect run. Its 2100 lb car, super heavy for how small it is but works very...
Im glad you guys updated this. Motivation for me, i have a smart car swapped now and want to try for my Personal best (12.5) 109ish
I dont know if it will be any better. Fun experiment i suppose
Took it to the dump yesterday to weigh it. 1950 lbs ☹️ Hotpiped no intercooler yet. And no passenger seat either And there isnt much i can do to lighten it up. Will be 2000 for sure. Which is insane heavy considering how small it is.
Super fun to rip around in tho
I recently picked one of these up and am well into the swap. I am using the whole dsm subframe all hacked up and figured out a way to make it all work so i will be full 1g talon width with 1g stock axles. Lots of fab work. There was no possible way the dsm engine/trans was going to fit in the...
My 1980 colt ran 11.6 @123 mph in 2017 with really bad tires and current setup fpgreen hta kelford 264 2400ish race weight manual awd.
I finally put some half decent tires on it. Re71s. I also upgraded a few other things but the car doesnt make much power. Maybe 400 at the crank I...
Ok cool thanks a lot for the repliesMy main question tho was if i can run it as is?I dont care if i wreck the transmission im just curious if there is no point trying to run it, third gear will just go out right away too?Or is it possible that third can still hold fine for a few track...
You said shift box. You have tried putting the car Into every gear correct. Then it slips out of o/d into what 3rd gear or another gear? With the shiftbox off it will just slip all day.
It will shift into 4th and stay in for about 3 seconds then it just freewheels. Its like neutral but...
I have an 87 honda crx i decided to use an f4a33 (unknown condition) in it with the 4g63t. It worked fine for awhile until i put in a boost controller, it was shortly after i put in the shiftbox. Then the trans started slipping in all gears. Real bad. To where it wasnt driveable.
I...
must have overheated it real bad to get the piston rings stuck, sounds like thats what it is. If starting fluid didnt help and the compression is horribly low that must be what happened. You can try fixing the leak and driving the car and see if the rings unseize themselves. What will it...
Congratulations! I thought you gave up! That must have felt amazing! I thought i would go pretty fast with the 14b, with my 2450 race weight, NOPE 12.7 104 mph! A month later im running an fp green and 11.8 120mph Its so easy to just put on a bigger turbo! Dont know how you guys do...
im excited to see what everybody else has/will do and even more so what i can do!
I struggled last year, couldnt get past 180hp (104 traps)
I think it was just a fuel supply issue, not sure. It was a non rewired 190, should easily support 250 hp or so even non rewired. Could never get to fuel...
Yeah im not sure if ive posted it on here but theres a pretty strong scene still but its migrated to facebook groups it seems. I have met a crazy amount of dsmers just through buying selling in kijiji. I can name 15 guys off the top of my head just from stoon that have been working on their...
I dont know what that particular car weighed but i would expect it wouldnt be too hard to get a twinny around 3000 lbs even. Lots of fwd talons around the 2200 lb range so just add another 500 lbs. a fwd trans is 100 lbs, engine around 250, etc.i will do one of these in the next few...
Two automatic fwd transmissions. Not hooked together, dont have to be works perfect.
I want to do this too but the only reason i havent is because its not allowed at my local trackWould be easy to do, of course time consuming. Just cut a huge hole in the back of fwd talon, install a conplete...
Yeah ive been looking for a decent cheap geo metro for a while. I would stick the entire fwd dsm subframe in the back of the geo. it wouldnt cost anything. Why do people think engine swaps are expensive? It costs a bit of welding gas and wire, some zip cut blades, pocket change reallyThe...
I am looking for an lsd rear diff. 3 bolt will do. Anybody have any leads? I bet theres a few out there. I know i can buy one from the us but the shipping will suck.
14@ 100 is definately fast enough to be a fun car! Like i said a few pages back, my colt is only 2050 lbs and i only got 13.3 101 mph out of it! But my setup is extraordinarily lame, major issues that need adressing.
I also have an eagle 2000gtx as a daily beater. I recently swapped in a...
i have an engine crane! as anybody does. what i meant was a lift as in a car lift. if you had a proper lift like a mechanic shop does, itd be best to drop the engine, lift the car
well i for one would say thank you both, gst and kel for your contributions!
i have a perfect candidate in my shed to try this technique on! im totally trying it, worst case i would say if i bugger it up id just have to get it refinished (sonething it needs already)
thanks a lot for the help guys. i updated the firmware and app and its all good now. sorry for the noob question.
who knows how long this link has been sitting around. i didnt ask the seller, i assumed it was recently purchased. too many assumptions.
i gotta chime in later but thanks a lot for trying to help me. its definately not counterfeit copy. i read up on their site about that. i thought any version of ecmlink would have speed density. ecmlink in general is not very old
i dont even know! i bought it used bnib, just the chip, cd, in box. i got a socket soldered in. it runs the car fine and i played with it a little bit, adjusting the idle and stuff
i followed the guide and what i have is not the same. im not getting the option to select which map sensor is hooked up like everywhere elsewhen i go to the maf comp tab only maf options are evo, stock, and two others and nothing about speed density on that page
learning how to launch is kinda hard cause you can only do it once then let it cool for a while. if you do a bunch of back to back you will destroy your clutch real quick. i know from experience sadly
did you check the bores? i find it hard to believe any professional shop would bugger up the bores. id think more likely the rings are to blame. check the bore size
at stock levels the manual is wayyyy more fun. the autos feel gutless in comparison and just ruins the car. im sure the auto is way better for consistent drag times and reliability for those high power cars
