    Machine shop's fault?

I did get a build sheet but it did not include clearances; only dollar amounts for the service/part

    Machine shop's fault?

    Thats my question.
  4. woodnbronze24

    Machine shop's fault?

So it could be machining, bearing clearances, and or bad/clogged oilers. None of which are on me
  5. woodnbronze24

    Machine shop's fault?

No specific warranty info was given. I have a receipt with all the services and prices but that's it.

    Machine shop's fault?

10-30 mobil conventional oil changed at 150 then 500 miles. I wouldn't have used the cranked but the shop sounded so completely confident that they convinced me to go with it. Clevite bearings were used for the rods and mains.

    Machine shop's fault?

The shop assembled the bottom end. I assume they did
  8. woodnbronze24

    Machine shop's fault?

Ok but the shop measured, machined, and checked the crank/bearings for clearences before I wrote them a $1000 check.

    Machine shop's fault?

At 175,000, I spun a rod bearing so I decided to rebuild: 7 bolt, balance shaft elimination, eagle rods, Aries 20 over positions, clevite over sized main and rod bearings etc. I had a local machine shop machine my crank, balance and assemble the shortblock, just to be safe. I assembled the rest...

rpm drop noise with clutch engagement

There's no way there going to buy me new gaskets. They only assembled the shortblock. If they do, maybe I'll find another roller in better shape. Even then, I wouldn't trust the engine after they messed it up the first time. This is my dd, or, was my dd

rpm drop noise with clutch engagement

The only update is that ive decided to part it out. I havnt torn it down or taken it back to them yet. I don't have the $ to replace all of the gaskets/oil/coolant etc again and I especially don't have the time. I'm just really discouraged over this and it is terrible that this shop has...

rpm drop noise with clutch engagement

What's the best angle at approaching the machine shop that did my bottom end to get this worked out?

rpm drop noise with clutch engagement

Tom, I wish your luck came to me.I have .025" of crank end play.
  15. woodnbronze24

rpm drop noise with clutch engagement

Just recently built my motor after a rod bearing failure. The bottom end was professionally machined, balanced, and assembled. I have almost 700 miles on it and noticed right from the start that when I pushed the clutch (act 2600 with a street disc on an act flywheel) in, my rpms drop a lot. I...

    Wideband logging different than display

Great. I'll try that.Just tried all of the aem widebands and no dice.... The R1 reads 19:1 at idle and does not move. Am I missing something? Do I need to ground the black wire on the rear o2 harness that came from the stock sensor?

    Wideband logging different than display

To make a long story short, I just broke in my built motor and am now looking to start tuning. Doing some logs, I noticed that my aem analog wideband (in the ecmlink log) sits at 15.8 until I get on it. When the wideband responds in link, it reads almost 2 afrs leaner than what the gauge is...

    2G no taillights, interior lights...help

its funny: I was going to post nearly this exact thread. Ever since Ive had my 2g, the tail lights would flicker when the brake pedal was pressed and ONLY the interior lights ON. When the headlights were on, however, I got solid running tails and solid brake lights. Recently, my interior lights...

Anyone know what wheels these are? They came on this car when I got it a few years back and I really need to find some center caps

    Stock or built transmission

It really depends on if you have a back up vehicle in my opinion. A shep or tre trans will hold that power and give you peace of mind. Also, you'll find the price difference between a local shop to do a rebuild vs a shep or tre build is quite small. I'd trust a Dsm trans specialist over a local...

    Transfer case or tranny leak?

The sound was my clutch throwing something around in the bell housing. The fluid is not coming from the t case nor its respective input shaft but rather somewhere else inside the bell housing. Im thing my ### one year old ACT street disc lost one of its springs or something and it knocked a hole...

    Transfer case or tranny leak?

I noticed a few months ago a very slow leak coming off of my tcase. Pulling out of the parking lot today I noticed a metallic clatter almost like I ran over a few pop cans or something but I could feel it resonate through the car. I pulled over and there was fluid leaking from in between the...
