I'm looking for a replacement set of new, non-revised HLA (lifters) with the smaller oiling hole.Reason being: I don't want to reduce oil pressure or flow more oil into the head. This is a road race car and I want to keep as much in the oil pan as possible while also keeping oil pressure...
Wow, just discovered this thread, great info here. After having some transmission issues running 3 endurance races this year on a brand new rebuild (not sure if heat related or not), I'm seriously considering adding some cooling for extra protection.
2,200lbs would take a ridiculous amount. That would require gutting 100% of the interior and reinforcing structure, chopping the top, ditching or reducing crossmembers and rear diff subframe (assuming AWD car), and not having a cage. Even then you'd be lucky.Does this require a cage?
WOW! That is some hose! Thanks for keeping us up to date, I'm interested. What are the rules for the $2010 challenge? What is excluded from the price. I would guess safety equipment, anything else?Even with my bigass oil cooler, my temperatures still eclipse (get it??) about 265 when I push...

I just completed my first 9 hour endurance race with my 1g.Oiling system was great... other than the POS Spectra oil pan I had on there. Damn thing cracked at the baffle spot weld and started leaking externally. Piece of junk, stay away if you can.Issue is that OEM 6 bolt oil pans are...
Just got an update, not too surprisingly they don't sell or provide the bushing separately. I have a contact with Bilstein I'm going to use for further info and retrofit options though.
Yep, I believe you are right. They are the 'tarmac' version of the strut, I believe. Compression damping is super high, strut is really tall, made the front of the car a bit harsh at the last race. Worked pretty well but i feel I can do better.
Good info, thanks Steve. I'm in communication with Bilstein to see if they'll sell me just the bushings. I'll update if I make any progress there. Otherwise I might have to salvage some from some crappy struts.
Yes sir, I believe the 'entry' portion of the sleeve is actually tapered and/or larger diameter if i remember correctly. I dont believe it to be standard or common with other makes.
Has anyone found replacement rear lower strut bushings that work for a 1g? Even something universal that works? I'd like to run some non-dsm rear struts (since our options are basically nonexistant) but I'd like to avoid having to reinvent the wheel on the lower bushing. Though, if I have to, so...
These came with my car that was formerly a stage rally car, so they very likely could be rally struts. No markings on them. Not adjustable. Can't tell if the adjustable sleeves were added later, I can't get them to budge.Very high damping coefficient. Wondering what the heck they are!Did...
The overall height of your slider/endplate assembly more or less the same as mine, the only difference being my sliders mount to a vertical location ~2 inches below the stock stamped/threaded seat mounts, due to my floor restructure. We also have a cage that is as tight to the A pillar as it...
Doesn't look like your car is caged, correct me if i'm wrong. Clearing the ceiling is one thing, clearing front downtubes/halo is a whole different story and basically requires you to get the seat somewhere around 3" lower. If i recall correctly you want shoulder straps to be angled maybe 0* -...
I'm really surprised that pad setup worked out for you. I'd say those are considered very mild (almost street) pads to a lot of racers. Hell, my last car didn't even like hawk blues (burned up a set in <2 hours) with bigger brakes than 2 piston DSM and in a lighter car. HT-10s gave us the best...
You're right - you can not take settings from one platform, verbatim, and apply to another. However I partially disagree - experiences with other cars can definitely guide and be helpful for others. It all requires some good judgement and thought/testing, hopefully that goes without saying...
Isnt' it true that autocross cars are better set up looser than road course? Tight turns, oversteer at lower speeds much more controllable and helpful.
You could also just ensure your stock viscous is still working... can't remember if the FSM has a procedure for that, but I wouldn't be surprised.I'll 2nd the opinion of -1.5f/-0.5R camber not being great. Haven't set up my 1g yet but my EF civic, at one point, had around -4 front, -2.5 rear...
Thanks for the pics! After looking at that, I think another component of my issue was the fact that my race seat has a very 'square' bottom, meaning it doesn't taper out from the base. That taper gives you some ability to go lower and avoid the tunnel. My seat is also pretty wide (17") which...
Chris, can you tell us more about your roll center issue? Are you talking about the typical slammed car/control arms pointed up/underground roll center issue? How low was your car when you encountered it?theamsoilguy - thanks for the tip about Hotbits, I will definitely be calling them this...
Chris, the issue you might discover, as I did, as you go vertically downward you will hit the tunnel first (and maybe even before you can get much further down). The tunnel gets in the way of mounting the seat lower, and you'll have to push the seat quite a ways out towards the door. It might...
I'm afraid I can't be of much help as of yet, but I'm interested in hearing what you try and what works.I'm building my car for WRL at the moment. Question - have you done the active toe elimination? I'm hoping that, along with some spring rate manipulation, is enough to make the car rotate...
Has anyone had any luck finding a rebuild kit for a 1g ABS (1" diameter I believe) brake master cylinder? They seem available for Non-ABS and FWD, but I cannot find for AWD and ABS. Dealer doesn't even show a kit for it either.I'd like to save a little money over buying new OEM, since I have...
Has anyone else tried to fit a racing seat, with proper positioning, in your racecar? I find that 1g seat provisions are terrible.Building anything up off the stock mounts made the seat way too high and my 6'3'' teammate's helmet was above the level of the halo, which is as tight to the...
I'm currently building a 1g DSM for World Racing League (www.worldracingleague.org)I was running a few different turbo Hondas in Chumpcar with a lot of success. Unfortunately the crazed dictator who runs the series decided he didn't like us and has instituted a rule that more or less bans our...
LV-DSM, that is awesome! JNZ is a great company, have gotten tons of my business (all OEM parts orders) and will continue to do so.Thanks for the other links, luv2rallye. Those should prove helpful.
This might be a stretch, but I'm prepping a race car and coming across the typical old, brittle and sketchy DSM electrical harness connectors.Has anyone replaced/crimped new pins and installed new connectors on an engine/chassis harness? Does anyone have sources or part numbers for said...
I actually did a little digging on this today... went to a few parts stores and all any of them had was a driver side non-abs manual trans axle. Which does NOT appear to work with an evo diff. Spline count and diameter is more or less accurate, but the outboard diameters and lengths aren't...
Interesting piece of information... I talked to the DSS guy and he told me that the 2G non turbo FWD front inner axle joints are the same as the evo... does someone have axles to confirm this? Perhaps tell us spline count and the engaged shaft/seal diameter?Would be a really cheap option if so.
Thanks for the breakdown ACM. I'm sure you have posted it but this thread is getting pretty long to sift through for information, this should really get documented elsewhere. That being said, is there any way to use the 2G non-LSD inner cup in lieu of Evo inner cups? It is very promising that...
I wonder how bad an idea it is to put a restrictor in the pressurized oil feed to the head...OR....Better yet, weld the hole into the head regulator and drill it out a bit smaller...
Yeah, I've actually owned/used an Accusump before on my previous race car and I'm not a fan for various reasons. I think a well thought out motor build and baffling (if necessary) is usually sufficient.Dry sump isnt' an option for us, unfortunately. (even if I could afford it... it would be...
Is there anything that can be done in lieu of the expensive kiggly part to keep excess oil out of the head?By 4g oil pan, do you mean 4G63 oil pan? Is that built-in slosh baffle effective enough to not need other modification, in your opinion?it seems like the larger orifice in the HLA would...
Haven't found a specific topic on this and it is something i'm very interested in researching and planning for the road race car i'm building for this season. That being said, what oiling system changes/enhancements/upgrades should be done? What are the weaknesses of the DSM oiling system...
