okay well today I replaced the radiator cap and the thermostat. The old thermostat was pretty crusty and I couldnt get it to open up with boiling water. It seems like this helped, the hose doesn't look as bloated anymore.
Another thing, my overflow bottle got burned a while back and the cap doesn't really seat or seal, it just kinda sits on top. That wouldn't cause problems, would it? And I just took my car for a drive and when I get back checked the radiator hoses. Top one is hot and puffy and lower one isn't...
okay thanks, i'll run to auto zone tomorrow. I'm not overheating at all. The upper radiator hose gets hot to the touch. I didn't check the lower one though
So after driving my gsx around tonight i noticed a bit of steam coming from the hood. I checked it out and it looks to be my overflow bottle. It's been getting more full of coolant every time i look at it. And my upper radiator hose is hard as a rock and bloated like a pig. It has a 13 psi...
I ended up fixing my overheating problem by doing what a lot of people did and making my own ducting out of thin aluminum sheet metal I got from home depot. I made two panels between the AC unit and the FMIC and then a scoop starting where that stock plastic scoop use to be and bent it so it...
I ended up putting a baffle in my huge exhaust tip which seemed to help out a lot. the highest I saw it go was 14 psi and held rock solid through the gears. I'll hopefully get an external WG soon so I can get rid of that baffle.
After installing a 14b on my car, the boost was erratic and would spike 20+ uncontrollably. I eliminated my perren boost controller and ran a vacuum line from the j pipe nipple to the wastegate nipple. This seemed to help some.. my boost would nail 9 psi at WOT and hold and after a few seconds...
I took my car out for a long needed drive today and on my way back I noticed the smell of coolant and my water temp rising. I immediately took the next exit and pulled into a gas station where further investigation found a long 6" crack at the bottom of my radiator below the radiator fans. I got...
I recently installed a FMIC in my 1999 A/T GSX with a 14b turbo. Everything seemed to fit good until I saw my transmission cooler on the drivers side. I searched the forums and saw people were moving them to the stock SMIC but I have no idea where to begin really. Do I need to buy an aftermarket...
Sorry for the slow replies.. I'm offshore and it's very difficult to use a computer. My car never use to overheat with the A/C on full blast and I live in Louisiana where it's very warm. My front mount Isn't huge but it's just big enough to block the opening in my front bumper cover. I...
Awesome! I'm currently offshore right now and as soon as I get back I'll start with all the small things and go from there. It's just been Irritating me not knowing what to do. I didn't realize the M/T radiators would fit without issues. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I recently installed a 14b turbo and FMIC on my 1999 Eclipse GSX. Now i'm having an overheating issue. I was going to upgrade the thermostat and a new radiator but I'm having issues finding a good radiator for my A/T. It seems like everywhere I look it's only for M/T. Any help or suggestions...
I had the same exact issue after changing my spark plugs and spark plug wires. Not knowing, I changed my plugs with the expensive Iridium plugs, and my car ran like crap. I did some searches and found that our cars like the cheap NGK copper plugs. I went and got those and it fixed my car from...
Hey guys, if I'm still on the beach, I'll go. I actually just got back from being offshore last night. Hopefully I don't get called out again! My car is doing pretty well, I just got done putting a custom 3" exhaust on, so it sounds a little better. I'll definitely be there if I can make it :D
Yeah i'm up. I couldn't get to the lake meet because of work issues
If people wanna meet up, that would be cool. I'm not driving to biloxi again though :banghead:
Ah hey eclipse 94, i'm still pretty new to the new orleans area.. but I think I work in Gretna. You know where Lapalco is? I work near there for epic divers and marine. I'd love to check out your dsm! You going to the meet? How many people are going?
Yeah, as long as I'm on the beach I'm game. If you really get bored, you can help me figure out a way to get this 3" exhaust to fit on my car =S
It's pretty messed up
I got kinda got caught up today. I was able to stop at one place but they only had some cruddy looking 1st gens and nothing worth grabbing. Hopefully I can stop by some more tomorrow. I'll keep an eye out for your cigarette lighter assembly though. :)
I know this thread is old, but I thought i'd post incase anyone else had the same problem. My hvac lights would sometimes come on, usually when i went over a bump in the road or something. It was very frustrating not being able to see the heater controls at night so today, I decided to tear...
