Hope that loads:I'd like to keep the Talon, but keeping 6 vehicles maintained is just too expensive! I am down to 4 now though, but one of the 2 cars had to go and it sure isn't the WRX.
Bought it from a guy in Wasilla. Was tuned by a guy in either Wasilla or Palmer, I'm not sure. I have his info in my truck, I'm supposed to call him since it's not tuned to what it can do right now and with a different fuel pump (got swapped in last week) he can bump up the #s.
It's fast enough right now. 2.5L STI block with 2.0L heads, VF39 turbo. Perrin headers, 3.5" exhaust. Intake, 650cc injectors, Walbro 255 fuel pump. Already been tuned for it.Gets the same fuel mileage as the Talon too, though I am running 90 octane (highest we can get) instead of 87
Picked up an 03 Subaru WRX last week. Would eat my Talon for lunch if I raced them side by side.Anyhow, going to fix up the Talon and put it for sale. It's been a fun car, but I have 6 vehicles right now. Going to sell a Blazer or maybe both of them and the Talon.
Maybe on the low side, but you should be measuring on the high side and it needs to be about 2x ambient temp in pressure with the engine at high idle. So if it's 80* out, it should be around 160 psi.Need a guage like this:R134 AC MANIFOLD GAUGES HOSES AIR VACUUM PUMP R12/22 :eBay Motors...
New projects pretty much keeps me going. Between the house/shop, 4 vehicles, tractor, and a doggie I don't get bored too much. Now sometimes I put stuff on the back back burner though. I broke the front trackbar in Moab, UT on my Jeep 2 years ago and I still haven't fixed it past the 20 min...
Jack, that's a TON for the info and help. Once I have a chance to pull the car into the shop and check I'll let you know what I need.I'm hoping that I can bump my mileage up a bit from 25mpg. Between the 5th gear and just a tune up I'm hoping to be closer to 30mpg.
Trying to figure out if the 5th gear deal is doable on a 91. Sure would be nice.I'm not worried about how fast, but mpg since the car is just my "beater" daily driver.
Sure they are. Made in Japan = ricer.Diesels suck... hmmm. Latch onto a 20,000lbs trailer with your car and tell me that again. ROFLAnyhow, why can't I do an easy swap on a 91 trans... I didn't know there was anything different compared to a 92.
No, I wrote it correctly.
Truck puts down 525hp and 1200ft/lbs. 7 secs... uh... no. My friend has a 700hp Duramax and it is in the mid 10s. Gotta remember these trucks weigh 7000lbs plus.I don't even see where you can spend that much on a little ricer trans really! There can't be that...
Die grinder and Ro-Locs like I said. I've been turning wrenches for over 15 years and that's all I use. If the gasket is pretty thick sometimes I'll get the bulk of it with a razor though.
Yeah 2300 for a trans... no thanks! That's more than I paid for the whole car... and hell... almost more than I put into the AUTO trans on my diesel truck and I built that to hold 600hp.
Want a list...Dodge..

Would be nice.My car runs around 3000rpm at 70mph. I drive close to 500 miles a week, so mpg improvement would be nice. Been getting right around 25mpg right now.
I smashed up my car yesterday... black ice and non-studded tires.Anyhow, I have a line on a 94 Talon for $500 for parts. Wondering if there are benefits in the non flipup lights?
I've been working actual paycheck jobs since 8th grade (early 90s) and I've never been fired. Tons of slave labor for farmers, cook, mechanic, bomb tech, etc.
Right... so what is a good wheel size and back spacing?17x7"?? 4-5" backspacing? W T F is this offset measurement? I worked in a tire shop for a couple years and never even heard of that.
You never mentioned anything about that actually... just that whatever brand lights were on your car used the 885 bulb. I was under the impression that several different brand lights were used over the years. As far as I know my car is 100% bone stock, but who knows what the previous owner did.
The worste thing was the bleeding. It took a good 3-4 MONTHS for it to stop. For that timeframe I would force on something and then taste blood after that.
School me a little here...1st gen AWD lowered 1" (Eibach Sportlines). What's the best fitting wheel/tire combo.I'm coming from the 4x4 world... tires are measured in inches... like 38", 44", 47", 54"... have no idea what all these metric #s for the cars mean.
Wasn't bad at all. Got out of the dentist around 10AM, went home.. cut the grass, put a lift kit on a truck and fabbed some other stuff... all while I was supposed to be resting hahahaa.
The Cibie lights use H3s. It will say Cibie on the lense (least mine do) Stock bulbs are 37 watt. I put 50 watt silverstars and no wiring issues. They also make a 100watt bulb but I wasn't sure the stock wiring would hold up to that.
Just was checking this on fuel mileage and what I get sounds about right. The past few tanks have averaged between 24-25mpg. I think I can squeeze a bit more out of it... need to put new plugs and wires plus a few other things.
Reason I have a 12guage by the front door, 10 guage by my bed and a .380 under my pillow. Let's just say if someone breaks in, they aren't leaving alive.
