Thanks! Haven't had a chance to test them yet. Still waiting on a few parts but Im hoping to get the car road worthy in the next few weeks. Ill update once Im able to drive it. Ive read to get the best results with 4 pot calipers you need up upgrade the master cylinder to a bigger bore unit...
I installed a VR speed fmic and SRS catback exhaust shortly after getting the car. Sadly I don't have any pics of the actual installation. Here are some pics of the intercooler kit with an HKS bov(came on the car when I got it).
I was very impressed with the VR fmic kit. It arrived well...
The car came with a big 16g turbo when I got it. The guy I bought it from told me he had recently rebuilt the turbo. Keep in mind he had also rebuilt the head, which didn't turn out so great. I wasn't taking any chances. My original plan was an HX-35, but I decided to stick with a...
Thanks guys! The chicks really dig my wheels too:cool:Before I reach my horsepower goal, I first wanted to make sure I could stop. I researched several upgrade options. Ive always loved the 3kgt vr4 calipers because of their effectiveness and ease of installation. I found a complete kit...
The car smoked like a freight train when I first cranked it up. It smoked so severely I was amazed it actually idled. On the bright side I think I knocked a big dent in the local mosquito population.Anyways, I pulled the head and had it rebuilt at a local machine shop. The guy that had the...
Hello, My name is Alex.
My project car is a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi Turbo AWD.OVERALL PLANS FOR THE CARMy number one goal for this car is a "mint" condition car. I want it to look as if it were driven off the show room floor in 1990 and landed in my apartment parking lot in 2013. Far-fetched...
My girlfriend hates my car. She says its a money pit and she says I spend more time working on it than I do with her. The funny thing is she loves to ride in it.
These cars are F'n SAWEET!!!! Im gonna sell my dsm and buy the cheapest rustiest pos and put a set of 30" rims on it. Then Ill be cool like these people in the pictures. And if I sell enough crack, Ill have it painted with the gaudiest paint scheme I can think of.Mad TIIIGHT SON!!
Thanks guys. Great pics, keep em' coming!Gonna pic up another shell next week. Its jack-stand ballin at the moment, but will be rockin' 4 donuts till I get it finished gathering all the parts.
Thanks. Great pic btw lol. Im planning on converting my new gst shell to awd also. Should be alot of fun...its sitting on blocks at the moment. Gonna pick it up on Friday, then it will be rockin' 4 donuts.:cool:Are those pieces of the block in the last pic?
Just started a group on facebook for those who are jack-stand ballin. So if you've ever been jackstand ballin or are currently jackstand ballin, then come join, cause chances are, you will be jackstand ballin in the future! My Dsm is jack-stand ballin' | FacebookNow that Ive got that...
I have a punishment fmic. Descent quality for the price. I had an issue with the bov flange leaking because it was warped but had a different flange welded on and all is good now. I also like the fact that this kit comes with a j-pipe.
I will also vouch for the vr speed fmic kit. I helped...
I was thinking the opposite, that it estimates whp based on acceleration and weight. You would need to know the drivetrain loss to calculate bhp because it would have to be added to the estimated hp that was based on acceleration. I could be wrong though.
I agree. This is pretty much what I have done to my car. Link is showing 330-340 hp. I don't know if that is supposed to be to the wheels or the crank though. Those mods will get you really close. I can't stress enough the importance of tuning, it made a world of difference after I got the...
I paid $1200 for my old 95 gsx shell. It needed an engine, turbo and exhaust. It had been riced out and needed some new interior pieces because they were horribly painted. They body was in good shape and shined up nicely with a wash and wax. It was automatic though.

Do some research and take your time, you'll be fine. I have personally pulled the tranny and put it back in myself but it is alot easier if you can get someone there to help lift it back in place.

If it were me Id go back to the stock coil. Im fairly certain thats your problem. If you want to test the coil, just swap it with another and see if that spark plug is black as well.Ive never been a fan of the cop setup, it does look cool though.
1. and 2. How much boost are you pushing? Are you running stock injectors, if so, turn the boost down so you don't hit fuel cut and get some bigger injectors and something to tune with.3. If the CEL is on then that could very well be the cause of your bad gas mileage. Since you said you...
One of my friends had problems with her cop setup. One of the coils turned out bad. Check your spark plugs and see if one of them looks blacker than the others. And is it sputtering driving normal or under wot?
1. Gas cap is on the wrong side.
2. Leaks oil even after replacing old seals.
3. Can't get traction
4. Doors sound like they are gonna fall off.
5. Rattling @ss interior...fix a rattle, another one takes its place.
6. The top doesn't leak, but when it rains and I open the door water pours in.
7...
A guy I know was bragging about how fast his friends turbo civic was. He said, "Yeah...he blew his motor the other day....luckily he was turbo tho...The turbo is what got him home." At first I thought he was kidding but he was dead serious.
Dang man that sucks...and your car looked so good. Im actually not a fan of the high rise spoilers on spyders but I have to say that it looked great on your car. At least your ok and you have a head start on your next project.
Rewiring the fuel pump shouldn't have anything to do with the car starting or not. It allows the fuel pump to get a constant 12 volts so your fuel pressure is consistent.
Check the CAS wires. I had the same exact problem. I was convinced it had something to do with the fuel, turned out one of my CAS wires had come loose. I wired it up and it fired right up.
Did you push the timing belt down at all or is that the way it just was? Mine is loose when I let it sit overnight but when I turn it off it is still tight. There should be only about 1/4 in play up and down in the belt when it sits.
My small 16g starts to "whine" when it starts to really boost. I thought it was blown at first but Ive had it for a while now. It boosts fine and has absolutely no shaft play. Its probably just normal. Id check and double check for boost leaks though.
Ok, I understand a little better now. You have to match the hot side and cold side up more evenly to avoid compressor surge. I can run the 20g compressor wheel in a tdo6 compressor housing but it will push in more air than the tdo5 exhaust housing can flow and hit the surge limit. The 20g...
The 20g cover/wheel is too big even if I port the shit out of the tdo5 housing and run an external WG off the manifold? What if I have it clipped? At what boost level will it start to pass the surge limit? Id like to run at least 25lbs with fast spool. I could run 25lbs on a e316g so why not...
I am currently running a small 16g. The bolts for the J pipe are stripped out and the compressor wheel is damaged. The turbo has absolutely NO shaft play and I think it would be a shame just to get rid of it. I was thinking about upgrading the compressor cover and wheel to a 20g wheel/housing...
Pull one coil out at a time and put a screwdriver in the end of it. Lay the coil on its side with the metal part of the screwdriver almost touching the vc. Have a friend turn the engine over. If you see it spark, its good, if not then theres your problem.
How long since the last tune up? Id do a compression check to get an idea of what shape the engine is in. Ive seen these cars go over 200k miles when they are well taken car of and un-modded.
The noise is normal for a rebuilt head. It should stop after a few miles. It may have jumped time since the cam caps are loose. You need to take the timing belt back off and re-torque the cam caps. Then reinstall the t-belt. If that doesn't fix it then well go from there.
One of my headlights is busted...suicidal deer...I was thinking about getting projectors bc oem headlights are outrageous but if the light output sucks then ill go with oem. Is there a website that has oem headlights for fairly cheap?
