Hello local dsm'ers. I would come but my 95gst is down. This sunday is a big car show in visallia, its on the cencal racing board. Might be better to roll out as a group if anyone goes there and also gates open at 8 and car lines begin at 7-8 im sure. 1k cars.IDK yet if ill sow up, if i...
What would you do with 1k??? Buy an old honda or a beater??? Just look into a used head from Mitsu graveyard or ebay or local wrecking/towing yards. You might get lucky. As for the pistons, you'll know by looking at them when you pull the head. If you are rebuilding the head you may as well...
It's different and most people go with the 2g head as an upgrade when running a 1g motor.
Im in the same boat as you. I snapped the tbelt and havent wanted to tear the head off to see the possible carnage. I guess this is gonna be my summer project now... I'm trying to find all the parts to...
Lately ive seen about 3 different gst's around town in fresno in the areas of shaw & blackstone during the afternoon. All were 97+ & colors were white, red, black IIRC. White gst was a girl w/ dark hair. Didnt catch the others.Im down for a meet & greet but my gst is down for a while. I...
Nice kit there. I have the Brembo Cobra big brake upgrade kit for 96-04 mustang gt's i was going to use on a gt i recently sold but i have these sitting around and was going to sell them but if i can use them on my 95 gst i will.I'd buy a set if you get someone to manufacture them for...
Well looks like the mighty mitsu will be down for repairs for the winter if not longer:cry: I have to finish my 01 turbo mustang gt. Has a built/stroked 4.6L to 5.0L w/ forged internals, cnc'd stg 2 h/c's, Trick Flow Intake Manifold, soon to have an on3performance 70mm turbo kit w/ FMIC and lots...
Well i was quoted $400 labor + parts by a reputable shop here, who did my timing & seals etc back at 90k miles.
Well I want to attempt this myself & i am going to be doing it on a limited budget.
I have a few questions for some of you who have successfully been able to complete the job.My...
im in a similar situation with a noise i can locate inside the timing cover. I noticed my oil pressure going down lately but goes back up when i rev it. It has been going on for about 500 miles. I am planning on rebuilding the motor soon as it has 146k miles.
I'd recommend to buy some octane booster to even out that 89 poop you put in the car. Change the 02 sensor out its quite easy. The thermostat may be done but try resetting the codes and see if the coolant code pops up again. Its all of 10 dollars for a new thermostat and is easy to change as...
My car runs and idles just fine w/ no check engine light. Only mods are Ebay intake. Stock exhaust. Just wondering if my theory of: more exhaust exiting through exhaust leaks would be better for the sniffer in the pipe during smog? Wouldnt that let a bit of the bad carbons etc out before the...
I read the vfaq's and i like the idea of not having to remove the oil pan to check endplay. I have a fwd & i was looking at the differences in checking play and couldnt seem to find any difference between the fwd & awd method? Can someone please explain the difference in the two? I want to...
My question is has anyone used cryogenics to treat a thrust bearing? I read the thread about the graphite treatment and thought shit together that might be a strong piece once treated.
Well I've been driving the gst regardless of the new noise. I dont take it over 3k rpm's though. I havent noticed anything funny with the way the car acts/drives. It pulls boost hard but im not trying to push it. I just wanted to see if it would and what might happen. Which was nothing, it...
I had the t-belt & components replaced, w/p, seals etc, about 9X,000 miles. The belts arent rubbing. Ive checked the hb/cp but its still in good condition. The rpm's stay the same when i push the clutch as well. I cleaned her up and tomorrow i will get under the car and tighten things up. I...
It sounds like its coming from the timing cover or behind there. Im going to get under the car tomorrow and tighten up everything its been a while since ive gone over everything. Im going to pull the plugs and check various things as well. Going to take the upper cover off to look again for a...
I have been using he gst as my dd and well it all the sudden started making some whooshing sound and no its not the BOV. The sound is a constant vvssshhh sound no ticking or clanking. I have good vacuum. The sound increases with the rpm's. I took the top cover off the timing cover and it...
I think i ran them for a while but the do deteriorate over time. So i ride w/out them on my GC setup now. It picked up a little bit more road noise but i dont mind.
Well it looks like the mitsu needs another blood offering... I need to do the timing belt, tensioner, pulleys etc.
Who has used the Jay's Racing Timing Belt Tool Kit?
Is it worth the $50+shipping.
Or can i just do it with regular shop tools?
Its doesnt say anything about the item pictured might not be the same as you'd receive. I think you bought yourself an crappy upper i/c pipe that will leak boost at the flange of the BOV. (from what i can see anyway) Dont buy cheap parts for your dsm unless you want to repair/replace things...
There are no flanges like that 3 bolt piece on the intercooler piping. Post a link to where you bought it hopefully you can send it back for the right set. The 2 other pieces look like you could get them to fit that upper highlighted section, but that definitely isnt the lower i/c pipe. the...
Buy it, pull the motor, order a used 4g63t motor if you want to stay stockish, or pull it and do a full forged bottom end build then you'd be ready for serious power to be made:hellyeah:Not going to mention any names here but anyone who says check your cap n rotor and the distributor does...
I know this is an old post but my gst is making the same noise from the timing belt area. I looked at the timing belt and it looks good no cracking or shredding. I have a new harmonic balancer/ crank pulley to install. However i dont think its coming from that as it doesnt wobble. I am...
venting is when the pressure releases out of the blow off valve. That whooshing sound after you let off the gas is the BOV "venting" It is then recirculated back into the intake pipe or blown into the atmosphere
The heat issue is very interesting. Although i have had less issues since it has been 100 degree weather than i did in the winter. I have posted many threads on alt issues. Ive been through 3 or 4 in about 6 months the last one has lasted a few months now. My car has no beat or...
Id bet that is part of the problem. Almost everyone that has taken the honeycombs out soon have rich condition issues which make the car run like shit. You have extremely lean conditions. Which means there's more air than fuel in the mix.
What are you using for tuning? AEM EMS?
It sounds...
What do you use in your 4g63 radiator/cooling system? It's time to drain, flush & refill before summer gets here. I want to know if anyone uses the Royal Purple Purple Ice?
The WW is $9.99/12oz. & PI is $15.99/16oz.I ran a mixture of water, coolant & water wetter for the last 3...
Any and all of Autozones alts are subject to taking a dump at anytime. I am on my 4th in 6 months. My issue wasnt them falling apart but rather the voltage regulator taking the dump or another internal charging issue in the alt itself. I dont want to pay out the arse for another alt ATM so i...
I would recommend Berryman's B-12 Chemtool for fuel injectors, carburetors and crankcases, @ $3.50. It has worked wonders on a few really old cars that have sat for quite some time. I run it once a year around this time since its starting to warm up but still gets down there at night...
Just hit it all around the outer edge and then right near the lugs. A few big hits will knock it loose. Dont be afraid to lay into it since you are replacing the rotor. The bolt trick is a waste of time IMO. GL
If the rpm's go up & down and dont eventually drop to a steady idle you could have a bad IAC, a boost leak, do a little research on "high idle" or just "idle" you'll find what you need.
Also you'll want to check the code the CEL is throwing up. If its the IAC replace it. When i replaced mine...
Wow all i typed in was "clutch switch" and a list of threads appeared. OMGhttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drivetrain-tech/13894-how-do-you-disable-clutch-starter-cutout-switch-thing-merged-10-6-a.html?highlight=clutch+switch
There may be a leak in the TB shaft seals. I am having a similar issue but im sure mine is due to a leak in the SMIC. I need to make a leak tester to test each section, but im sure i need to replace the seals or look into the FIAV as the culprit. Ahh its always something isnt it? Gotta love...
Did you check all the clamps to make sure its all tight? One loose hose will cause the leak you describe. It could be that simple. Do it & report back.
My problem was solved by replacing the crappy rebuilt alt that i replaced months ago, w/ another crappy rebuilt alt. The problem is in the quality control i think. They say if its between 12-14 volts the alt is good to go. We should be seeing 13v while operating. How does 12v pass as ok to...
First change the cheap stuff like the PCV & fuel filter, spark plugs gapped to .032. Make sure you only run 91 octane. You could try running a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, or i would use Berryman's B-12 Chemtool for gas tanks, fuel injectors, carburetors, & crankcases. It cleans moisture &...
There shouldnt be any pressure if its been sitting for a while. It doesnt stay pressurized 24/7. No need for the battery to be in to relieve it either. W/out the battery to power the pump how is it pressurized? Its not. So get in there and change the fuel filter. You might want to change...
