The Greddy IC is set up for the stock location turbo. With that said, there are many kits for a 2g that include a J pipe that points the outlet (cold side) of the turbo down to the stock location. There is still need for a 90 degree elbow at the end of the J pipe to connect to the lower pipe of...
This has nothing to do about the opperation or quality of the Tial wastegate it is more about the v-band clamp and dump tubes. I recently had my car towed on a flatbed due to a minor accident. It was towed due to one of the tires got popped and I wasn't going to drive it to the body shop on the...
From what I have seen the nozzle should be after the BOV and before the elbow. I have seen this on about three different kits. I thinks for your other question you are looking at this too conservatively. The methanol will put your octane rating high enough to run 27psi and some sources say up to...
I like going to them because I have known them for quite some time now. They have alw ays done goo for me and the price is quite fair. They don't always get things done on time but it does get done. Just don't let them sell you a Quarter Master twin disk clutch if you plan on keeping it a street...
Extreme was a dealer option and used Ralliart parts. There were no aftermarket parts on it. It wasn't called a Ralliart Evo 6 because it was purchased at a dealer then sent out or the dealer would send it out after receiving the car then sell it complete. The other reason was that it was around...
Um... I've driven an Evo 6 buddy. It's ahuge difference compared to the current Evo. It feels so much better. The handling is razor sharp. Don't tell me what I've seen and done when you don't know me. I've driven a Extreme built Evo 6. If you don't know, which I'm positive you don't, Extreme...
He didn't say it was to the wheels did he. It is more likely that he was making an estimation based on the bolt-on parts. I could estimate my awhp at 500-600 based on my parts but I do not. If you people want Evos so badly go get them and join another forum. That is your choice to make. I am...
You want to drool over an ugly pile of crap go ahead. The only good Evo was the one we didn't get, the Evo 6, 6.5 TME. They out handle and outperform the current Evo junk. Stop being such a robot and think for yourself. EVO=GOOD. No. Like I said, I would NEVER trade my 2g, which has 135k and no...
350 hp is only like 60 over stock. So what?!! I'm talking real mods. Any Evo making substantial power will tear through a clutch in a very short time. The equivilant DSM can make a clutch last for years depending on the driving. Case in point, my ACT 2600 was put in 3 years ago and has over 50k...
Trust me, you don't want an Evo, at least not a current Evo. I would never trade in my 2g for one. Their interior sucks. All the power in the world won't make up for their clutch issues too. The throw out bearing on an evo works backwards. It pulls the clutch instead of pushes. This is why...
The onlt way that would help would be if it was a cutout and no exhaust. The atmosphere dump does nothing for spool if you are reffering to the wastegate. By the time the exhaust from the wastegate can interfere with the exhaust flow, you are already in full boost. I have never seen a "non...
I would agree that the FP Green would be the best 50 trim even though it would not be the cheepest. I would suggest a ball bearing turbo instead due to reliability. I'm not saying they are indistructible but I would say they tend to fail less frequently. If you think about it, even if you pay...
Um... where did I say there wouldn't be a difference between 20psi on a 20g and 14b? I said to not put on the 20g untill he can support 20+psi on the 20g. There would be no point to doing the install untill he could run 20psi becuase the 14b is more efficient at lower boost and is more...
Why is one pump living dangerously? I'm running only one pump on a bigger turbo than a FP3065. If you wanna go nuts do an Aeromotive external fuel pump. They can flow up to 1000+whp. I would also suggest against the GM MAS. There is no need for one on a 2g. The stock mass air is quite capable of...
You do not "need" an upgraded FPR with a 255 fuel pump. I'm on a much bigger turbo than you and with much larger injectors. I've had no problems with my stock FPR, granted I have a S-AFC to control the fuel too. An upgraded FPR is better to have but is not "needed". I would not bother putting in...
Yes it will work and yes it does make a slight difference. You need to port your intake manifold to the same size as the throttle body or it will hurt performance because of the lip.
The only time you can "feel" a difference is when there is a 30+ hp gain. Anything below that is a percieved difference. With that being said, I agree that even minor mods will add up and depending on boost leven and tune you might actualy "feel" them. Each of these systems should be a piece in...
"Full Garrett" means there is no parts used from any other company. Forced Performance uses Garrett components on their turbos but uses their own exhaust housing to make it a bolt on. PTE and other companies do the same type of thing. They might not use the actual Garrett parts in some cases but...
From the pics I've seen on this thread I have a couple of things to say.
1) The short route intercooler has terrible end tanks. Any time there are sharp edges in the path of flowing water (or air in this case) it will cause dissruptions in the air. I do not recommend this type just to get a...
Depends on your compression and tuning and if you are running a stroker motor. On my stock motor it comes alive completely by 5000 but I'm running a very large intercooler and it takes some time to fill it. It seems to come on quicker with the more boost that I run.
GT35R will but you deep into the 10s and still have good street manners. I know cars that have gone low 10s on this and it wouldn't surprise me if some have touched 9s.
I can't really give you anything about the Turbo XS BOV but I do have the Tial and it'll handle anything you can throw at it. All the cars I know of that are 600+ awhp have this BOV. I have never heard of one failing either. Your needs will be met and then some. The sound is great too. Not too...
A GT30R is a great turbo and very streetable. I would suggest a GT35R though just because 500whp is at the top of the GT30R hp range. The 35R will give you some room to grow if you want it and spool isn't terrible. I run a GT3582R on my daily driver.
Umm... I never said they wouldn't work. I have them drilled into the cover of my 3582R. I said that they are not outlets and I wanted to know how they worked.
Weather reports haven't gone to the 28th. I suggested that date because it should be warmer by then. Lakehurst isn't there anymore. The only thing there is the movie theater or Super Walmart. I'm not saying it's a bad idea but let's see if we can't get some more suggestions.
If the surge ports are outlets on the turbo you have pictured then how do the drilled surge ports prevent surge? They can't be outlets so there must be another theory to the drilled ones.
Yeah, I miss the spool noise my FP3052 made. I have a GT3582 now with the drilled surge ports and I can't hear the turbo over my exhaust. The smooth inlet will help power production and that little area there at the edge where the surge ports are still visable should be enough to prevent...
Yeah, the stupid ice chunks that day we had a blizzard. I'm going to cut down the other side and make them match instead of taking it off. I'm thinking we should meet April 21st. If anyone would like to give any input on where it would be great. I would advise against the Gurnee Mills parking...
I'll try to talk to Mike at Devotuning who is very good friends with Albert and try to find out what's up. I know when I got my FMIC done over the winter he was working on several roll cages and his car still needs to go back together.
I did not mean there wont be a power difference. I meant there will be nowhere to go as far as upgrade to another turbo. I know there is a power difference. I have the T3 flanged GT35R.
It really doesn't matter if you do Mitsu housing or T3 because the 35r is the largest BB turbo before a pure T4 housing is needed. I know some people will say 37R but it's not a true Garrett turbo that can be bought through any source. The 37R is a mixture of turbos that just happen to work well...
I agree completely. I have heard some stories about the Magnus cracking and not making power even without cracking but ultimatly it's your decision. By the way, square manifolds are not as good as a rounded one of the same size. Corners are never good for airflow. The DVDT one that is pictured...
Even though I don't like AMS in any way, I do admit this is one of the best designs of a SMIM. The plenum is much larger than the Magnus and the runners have a good tapper to them. I know many people that have made substantial gains with this SMIM and I have seen people trade up from other...
I noticed you have an intake and a "custom" FMIC. Did you boost leak test it and then secure the intake so that is will not separate from the turbo under load?Your idle surge sounds like a bad IAC (idle air control) motor or a bad leak causeing the IAC to try and compensate. The lag could be...
How can you ask for help without telling us what your problem is? You just want some random DSMers in your area that my know nothing to chime in or are you looking for a shop to take it to?
Hey, how about I defend this "your tubular manifold will crack" for the 10000000th time. THEY DO NOT CRACK ALL THE TIME!!!!! If you buy a cheep one without support for the turbo or one that has bad welds then yes it might crack. Spend some money and buy a quality one that has been proven on more...
The DV/DT Fab kit is made for the Q45 throttle body if you get the race version. I have the street kit and I plan on upgrading when I have the money for his SMIM and Q45 tb. The difference is the upper piping.dvdtfab.com Sorry man I didn't look to see what year car you have. They only have...
I like the new one much better. If you've ever heard an Evo with a Shearer style manifold, it sounds just like that. It's very loud when the boost comes on even when the wastegate is still closed. I'm from Mundelein.
I don't think its oxidation. The heat from the exhaust is what is doing the color change. You have to remember that those EGTs comming out of the head can reach 1900 degrees depending on your state of tune. As for the other question about the exhaust note, yes it will change. My SBR changed the...
This is what I was told happend by Shep. He told me that he has seen a rear diff catch fire due to different ratios. Isn't the speedo electronic on a 2g?
I guess there hasn't been a good response to my question so look what I purchased! Please let me know if there is any doubt about which FMIC kit is better. The Apex'i core was placed there for comparison.
Yes, I know that they changed because I lost a transfer case to a tailshaft leak and we tried to install just another 23 spline t-case. That one blew up within a month. I called and talked to Shep and this is where he told me that the final drive in a 97-99 was different from earlier AWDs and I...
