It was a felpro mls. I'm going to go back to using the HKS stopper gasket. I had better luck with that one, but it's a bit more expensive then the felpro.
Well I guess technically I was since Bush killed his transmission and Trevor's starter died on him before 1st round of eliminations. Neither of them got passes in, they both had troubles during qualifying and could not make a full pass. Definitely wasn't a good day for them. I was #2 qualifier...
Thanks man! I wasn't expecting the head gasket to let loose like that, but it did, real bummer but I still managed to keep it together to win the event.:thumb:As far as the turbo, I have no clue what happened. It's on it's way back to FP right now so I will know shortly what happened. I had...
Hard telling what it will run on a healthy pass. My 2nd pass in vegas the increments were showing the car was heading for a 8.6x pass.
1.43 60ft
3.71 330ft
5.64 1/8th
mph 127.8
Then I lifted off the throttle and coasted to a 9.4 @115mph lol.
And I still have not made a nitrous pass, only using...
Sorry it's been so long updating this, been hella busy with the car and life lol.I've had a couple problems with the car since I got it running, ended up smoking the turbo some how after 10 passes, but it went 9.1@154mph with a lazy 1.5 60ft. Put a new turbo on it last week and went to las...
No dyno numbers as of yet, everything is being dialed in either on a side road or at the track as we do not have an AWD dyno near us.Thanks, and yes, the motor mount drives me nuts! I'm going to be changing that soon.
Quick update, car is done and ready for action. Going to go do some testing at our local track on the 21st of this month (this Saturday) So far the converter is on the tight side but I have yet to stall test it with the nitrous, so we will see how well it stalls up with the nitrous soon. I may...

Sorry, I've been extremely busy with work and getting the talon done. But the motor is in, everything is ready, just need to get the exhaust work fabbed up then I can fire this pig up and get to testing! But here are some photos, I actually got the car back on the ground today, it's been the 1st...
I agree with you 100% But, with a limited budget right now that I am working with, the auto saved me well over $9k.I will see if I can make some time to start a build thread, really busy for the next couple of weeks, but I will definitely keep everyone updated on the progress!:thumb:
Simple actually, more cost effective, much more consistent, and will ET faster. I can always swap back to the H pattern if I don't like the auto, I kept all the 5 speed stuff minus the dogbox.:thumb:Thank you good sir for the kind words! let's just say I put her to sleep, kinda like...
I'm no fabricator? Hell, I can JB weld better then I can weld! ROFL
That is one thing I don't do, is welding. On a side note. I figured it was time to dust the ole girl off and put her back together. It's been too long with it just sitting in the corner of the garage collection dust.
I did...
It's been a long time since I posted, someone told me about this and I just had to jump in here and give a huge congrats to these guys! Absolutely amazing passes with some old school stuff such as the forester manifold and still on the heavy side. Congrats guys! you deserve it. You really set...
Sorry lucas, wasn't meaning to call you out by anymeans, just didn't know if you knew what curt ran with that turbo years ago.
Either way record or not, that car is hauling the mail!!! I knew that 3065 could get the job done, wish I would have stuck with it a bit longer when I ran it. Such a...
Nice runs Lucas! Thing looks like a blast to drive!:hellyeah: But I wouldn't call it a record just yet as Curt Brown went 9.4 @146mph with a best MPH of 148 on the 3065 with his red GSX years ago. Or are you saying it's a record for the car?

The long wait has came to an end for this. Most of you remember the teaser shots of the photo shoot me and Dan Bajalis had this past summer.Huge thanks goes out to Chris Wold for these photos and the article.Enjoy!!!:thumb:

HAHA Kitty, that race with me and you was funny as hell! We both missed 2nd gear, well I got locked out and got locked out in 4th! I need to relearn how to drive a syncro trans since I'm so used to my dogbox that I had in the talon, stupid old habits!
Had this happen to a customers car once. It ended up being a bad coolant temp sensor and in the AEM map the fuel pump is configured to only work over a certian amount of coolant temp, so it would fire up, run for a few seconds then shut the fuel pump off and kill the car. It took me awhile to...
Thanks Bill! It was a scary ride for sure, not the greatest feeling when something like this happens.
BTW need a spare shep dogbox?;) I'm selling mine for pretty cheap.
Yes we are both lucky neither one of us got hurt, it could have been worse, but we made it out ok. My car on the other hand didn't get so lucky, that t-case leaving under the car at 150mph did a number on the floor, gas tank, driveshaft, ect. Time for a new project and time to go faster and more...
I am partially parting some of the stuff out on the talon for my new project, the post on dsmlink forums is a buddy of mine that put it up. I can't get on the dsmlink forums so he posted it up for me. And no I do not use paypal due to getting screwed over by it a few years back, refuse to use it...
well guys, I wouldn't doubt at this point the car is almost a total loss. I just got done getting up underneath the car to inspect further damages and it's 10x's worse then I originally thought it was, I have 3 large holes in the floor from the front all the way to the back from when the t-case...
Those pictures above are of Jeff's talon (got a couple of PM's asking if it was mine that caught fire), he blew the dip stick out and it blew oil all over the manifold and caught fire on the return road. One hell of a bad day for that guy. Sorry that happened to you Jeff, you will get it back...
There has been a slight change in the schedule for the 23rd, the 22nd for pro qualifying remains the same (friday)Here is a quote from frank from BOTI on honda-tech
No problem man, and as far as all the misfortune, thats racing, and at this power level it's expected. Just sucks when it does happen.
We got a couple of things we are going to try in Seattle to keep this turd together, so we shall see.
Just a word of advice about the A1000 pump. I have the same pump you are running and I am running out of fuel pump at 42lbs, about 40lbs it starts to drop a bit of pressure and 42lbs it's dropping 7psi of pressure. They don't like to be ran above 85psi from my experiences with it.
You can...
The driveshaft flopping around at 80+mph is no fun what so ever. Ugh, we have had such a bad season with breaking parts, but we are pushing the car to try and keep up with the big GM pro-teams that are running 8.20's-8.40's in my class, everytime we step it up to try and hang with them something...
Got some new nifty things for the talon this week, it's either going to go really fast next weekend at BOTI or break lol. The way my luck has been this season, odds are it will break ROFL We will know if everything is working like it should on my 1st qualifying pass, then the next pass it's on...
We will be there yet again this season, hope to see a good turnout for DSM's/evo'sPACIFIC RACEWAYS

I take it your spraying while on the foot brake right before you let loose? Allot of the supra guys do this with there t400 trans with trans brakes. Makes for one hell of a launch thats for sure! It's nice to see a 4g63 auto take the spray while on the brake.:thumb:How is the converter...
We won't be there for T&T friday. We will roll into sac at about 8-9pm tomorrow night. We will see everyone at the track Saturday. I hope the track prep will be better this year. The car is making allot of power right now so hopefully it won't turn into a drift event like last year lol
Just a few more days guys! The talon is all ready for this weekend! I hope to see more DSM's out there this year then what there was last season. See everyone soon! We leave early Friday morning.
Looks like we will be there at this event. Wish more of you were running your cars. I've been to a few events this year and lots of DSMers come out, but only to watch. Lets try to get more DSM's out there to run in Street tuner!! Or even quick 16 class.
I'm not sure where you got that it's a $100 to race. But you are incorrect, it's $65 for all pro classes. When you have pay outs and contingency's as high as they are, then $65 is very respectable.
Do you have a twin disc clutch? Also what disc are you running? I ask this cause non carbon carbon twin disc clutches will make the drive train sound like that on decel, it's just the nature of the clutch. Even some 6 puck clutches will do the same thing.
Pro qualifying for friday has been canceled. Qualifying will be saturday for all classes. So this is just a one day event guys! Aug 2nd.Revised scheduleSATURDAY, AUGUST 2ND

Great Job Shawn!! I know how it feels to hit your 1st 9sec pass. It's a day you will never forget. Crazy story man! But you guys got the job done. Well deserved!!
We are going to try and make it, dunno as of yet, we are pretty strapped for cash right now with the 3 events we just had back to back, not to mention having to build a new motor after the MIR event. So it's a "maybe" for us.Here is the schedule for the event.Revised scheduleSATURDAY...
I don't mind at all man, we got the crank done the other night, getting ready to take it to my machinist to have balanced and polished here in about 10 minutes. Saturday night we filled the block with hardblock, Arias pistons will be here in the morning along with a set of groden aluminum rods...
There are so many threads up about the MIR event it's tuff to keep up haha.Anyway, #3 piston broke the pin boss clean off the piston, the entire bottom half of the piston is gone! In result it broke #3 R&R aluminum rod, bent 4 valves, and the crank is toast as well:cry:we are working...
