Hey guys. I'm changing the rear pads on my '92 Tsi. It has ABS and is AWD if that matters. Everything is done, except I can't get the piston in the calipers to screw back in to fit the caliper over the new pads. The haynes manual said I could use needlenose pliers to twist it and I've even...
Do yourself a favor and pick up a 2G shiftknob. I put one on last night and it's 100% better shifting now with the new knob. Much better feel with the throws and just fits great in your hand. :thumb:...oh yea it's way cheaper to pick up a used 2G knob then getting anything aftermarket, too.
I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I'm reading how removing the BCS restrictor raises boost 2-3psi, but I'm kinda wondering if that's actually serving a good purpose and should not be removed?
nobody's really responded with anything useful, though. Lexan is the material used in glass replacement on race cars. Obviously if you did this you'd lose your rear defrost if that makes any difference. Lexan is also known to warp over time in direct sunlight so that's another thing to watch...
I can't tell for sure, but I believe my power steering pump is making a really annoying whine. I think it's the power steering because an older camaro i had made a similar whine. The only difference is there's nothing wrong with my power steering and it doesn't ever feel like it's going to die...
i don't remember the exact figures, but they were neglible(trying to sound smart but can't even remember how to spell the word) with the gas cooler in the engine bay.BUT. If you're sitting the staging lines at a drag strip in 100* heat cooling everything is well worth it. My old car ran...
nitrous can make any slow car fast...I don't know how long I'd trust that Saturn motor to withstand the spray, though. In the meantime make as much money with it as possible :thumb:
I just saw the link to the PocketLogger and I'm definitely getting that but I'm wondering about the knock part.As hard as it would be to keep an eye on the screen while making a WOT through the gears, if you saw some knock, would it be a good indication that (saying you're running the...
Can I can check engine codes somewhere on the block? The engine has been replaced so I can't assume they replaced the type that was originally installed in the car.
I've been using nitrous on my domestic cars for the last few years, but I know turbos like nitrous so I'm wondering if the talon engine likes nitrous too.Forget the ZEX kit and all that ricer garbage. I'd do like a NOS single jet (and fuel jet?) somewhere in the intake setup. Where's the...
I've been a car guy for a while, but this is baffling me.When at WOT, my rpms go up to like 7k, but then will back off to 5k, and then back up to 7k, and I'll shift. It's the same sensation when the car is losing traction, but sometimes it does this when I'm in like 2nd gear going ~40mph...
clutches scare me and I think my stocker is about to bite it so I'm looking at the act 2600.I read about the flywheel needing to be resurfaced as well. What kinda prices am I looking at to get everything taken care of?Thanks,
PJ'92 Tsi AWD
So would it be ok if I did this mod on a relatively stock 1G? I think I screwed up my stock MAF and eventually will upgrade my engine to higher HP levels...
I moved the talon out from the garage and saw a pool of oil from where the rear of the car was sitting. After a few curse words, I came here to find out what is the problem.
I'm so tired of the idle surging I guess you could call it that I unplugged the idle switch so it just sits at 1500rpm the whole time when I'm idling. Is this bad to do this while driving the car?
Actually, I know where to start because of the fact that it wasn't doing this before I did the free mods, but how can I tell if it's leaking? I did a quick scan and all of the hoses look to be on properly??
Hmmm....I'm pretty sure I plugged it back in, but I can't be sure :D My gas mileage is kinda sucking lately too, don't know if it's related. I'll check the hoses, thanks guys. :thumb:
