Did you do a voltage drop test on the starter, battery?
Sounds like wiring or not getting proper voltage. If that all checks out and wires power/ground are good check for spark and fuel. Timing good?
What mods?
Worth the money?
I was planning on running dsm link (actually bought a dsm link but sold it to my cousin for his project).

One of the main reasons I'm looking at this kit is I have a gutted 1g with no harness, ecu, etc...
Welcome !
Thank you for your service !
Besides the spinny triangles inside your motor - the outsides are mainly the same. More air, more fuel = bigger boom = you go faster !
I have a 6 bolt spare block but I'm not in Illinois, I did however watch a movie about that area once , it involved...
I agree with this! did you wash the engine bay at the car wash?
Sounds like something may have got wet - crappy old wiring harness maybe ? Something not making a good/solid connection.
yes basically! he runs a setup like a turbo drag car does. Lots of fuel, lots and lots of fuel - methanol cools the intake charge enough that you don't need an intercooler. Look at all the big hp turbo cars - they all run no intercooler for a reason!
I'm sure steve will chime in about it.
Looks like fun!
Needs to get traction ! LOL ... maybe some better aero, splitter, canards, etc. Anyone know of any wind tunnels available for testing? I sure would like to find one (not only for my project but a lot of people here in Colorado I imagine)
I would like to try this (hopefully...
does it have any problems idling? Check the relays, fuses first. Then I would check the alternator - pretty common failure. Wiring - make sure everything is good, tight - no corrosion anywhere. After that if the alt and connections / wiring are all good - check the fuel pump.
Hope this info...
Hey man this is kevin I bought the 1g from ya!
She is sure coming along nice for a big old pile of crap! :tease::cool:
Let me know if you need a hand with anything - I seriously drive by your place like almost every day after work (it's faster than the highway - not being a stalker lol LOL ).
I can't find anything online any more. I'm looking for a dsm logo decal or sticker
I had one that I believe I bought off of dsmtalk a long long time ago.
It was great! It was the old eagle talon logo shape with the words dsm in the middle.
Anyone know where to get one?
Thanks all !
What about a "DSM" logo or sticker that is of high quality. Something OEM +
I bought one years ago that said dsm and it was in the shape of the old Eagle talon logo. I can't seem to find them online now...
Sucks! I really liked that logo - wish I never sold that badge or that car lol
yup sounds like bolts are missing, broken or both. Check for leaks after you get it tightened all down - could have broken the boots or the seals on the p/s pressure , suction lines
does your fan come on with the a/c - try this - unplug the sensor on the fan and turn on the a/c - does the fan now come on?
also on your idle - check the vacuum lines - biss screw for leaks , idle air control valve for resistance and also if all those are good check the ecu - could be the ecu...
I would also recommend checking the wheel bearings - are they making noise ? check for excess play on the ball joints, tie rods as well. Something is definitely off!
Good luck!
Might be best to take it to a shop where they can put it on a rack and align the vehicle.
Building a 1g for road race. Car will be shooting for 350-400 whp , 2k curb weight.
As far as the intake manifold goes. Is an aftermarket Sheet metal manifold going to help substantially (worth the cost, etc) especially if I keep the head stock - no porting, aftermarket cams, etc.
My old dsm...
If it's just a daily driver find the lowest mile Honda fit (with manual trans) you can - great on gas - super reliabile - never had an issue in almost 8 yrs of ownership with mine! Not saying a turbo car can't be reliable but generally they are going to be more maintenance and less gas mileage -...
What turbo do you recommend? Keep in mind this is not a drag car - this will be a primarily road course, rally cross build. Something ball bearing ?
Speaking of ignition timing I haven't even thought of that yet. I'm guessing coil packs are needed ?
I'm planning on running the most efficient...
Yes this will be speed density.
Not sure on your other questions.
4G63 motor
Haha thanks! It was after 2 (I think) user name's on here being banned about 7 yrs or so ago.
Was this with no intercooler? how many injectors?
Thinking of possibly running straight methanol as well but then I can kiss the "street car" idea goodbye haha
something caused the timing to jump - teardown will be required. Possibly the balance shaft belt or another belt or something caused the timing to jump...
Unfortunately you are gonna have to take it apart to verify the failure. Good luck!
Great! Unlike your kit, I'm going to be running on e85 or methanol all the time and extra injectors on the charge pipe. I won't ever run out of fuel/ cooling effect unless the fuel cell runs out and the engine stops !
It's the same for any turbo 2g !
Miller has one as well
http://millerimportparts.com/AC-Belt-Tensioner-for-95-99-Eclipse-Talon-Turbo-4g63-P2520044.aspx
So my setup so far will be a 16g, e85, running either dsm link or megasquirt.
Looking at running no intercooler and 2 extra injectors in the charge pipe / hot pipe.
My questions are has anyone done this?
What temps are you guys who have done this seeing ?
Worth the hassle or should I...
Just noticed this is an auto - could be the trans cooler blew - leaked into the radiator - possibly ?
Is there any other symptoms besides the oil color being milky?
Run hot, trans shift harsh, runs just like crap
Also the idle surge could be a multitude of problems - been a while but If I...
What I would do is ask how much it would be to put the vehicle on a rack and how much time they charge per hour to frame straighten or what is known as "pull time".
I have worked auto body all my life. I would say that is at least $300-$500 in pull time
with probably another $ 1000-1500...
This is/was "Ghettodsm91" pre-ban stylez. Also please ban this guy for seriously digging it up from the grave(zombie thread is no fun), also I no longer ask forums for t-shirt advice. I mainly ask my mother and homeless guys on "the fax" they always seem to be much more informative. Rock on...
Yeah I figured, so I've never removed the cover, whats the easiest way to go about doing this? I have most of the outside bolts removed, i've removed 2 at the top, 3 at the bottom so far.
I can't seem to get the last bolt off on the oil cooler, its covered by the timing cover. What all is needed here for removal? Also I'm thinking while I'm in there I might as well put in an aftermarket external oil cooler and clean up that area(thinking about relocating the alternator also)...
