Unfortunately the world of EMI isn't black and white, it's a spectrum. (frequency joke intended)... I think if you use good shielded wire and install everything with best practice techniques you will be fine. Lots of people making lots of cars run and they never consider anything to this level...
It's an interesting thought. While I am also not an expert on how our coil systems work, my first thought is: these coil charging events are DC. There isn't a lot of concern for emissions, both radiated or conducted, when dealing with DC (obviously excluding switching DC supplies etc). The...
Not that I know of. There are guides on this forum for wiring up the regulator portion using the factory DSM wiring.

I can't help with getting contact with Sheridan directly but you can order connectors and kits from ExtremePSI and they list them in stock.

The cost isn't there yet for sure. But the $2800 is one time only. Once you have the stp file (or your preferred 3d modeling format) you have it forever and can print replacement parts at will. The upfront cost of modeling will likely remain the same. The cost per item will come down. Plastic 3D...
I think they are already close if not there. My company is beginning to use 3d manufacturing for aerospace components made of inconel. The cost is likely prohibitive still for people like us but the tech is there. Just need to wait for the costs to come down. Only a matter of time. One guy...
I made a post above a few months back. I totally believe 3d printing will save older cars. Ours included. 3d printing shines with low volume work. The storage space is simply some hard drive capacity. No inventory or shelf space needed for parts ordered once every 6 months. Parts don't go...
I used "Tesa" tape for my harness rebuild. I really liked it. Most modern Automotive OEMs use this fabric style of tape. It is resistant to abrasion and chemicals. Handles heat better over time. There really is no reason not to use it in my opinion...
An upgrade is only an upgrade if it works. If you get this car for 15k and it takes another 5k to sort out all the issues you could have had a running and driving car and 10k to play with. Just a thought.
If this car really is perfect for you and its chassis is super clean then you will need to decide if that is what it is worth. The car not running right can always be fixed. Not that it will be a cheap fix, but it will be possible of course. It will be extremely difficult for anyone here to...
15k for a DSM that barely runs and "just needs a tune"? I'd run away now and find a different car honestly. There are many nice examples that go up for sale that aren't even close to 15k.
When you reach full lock and continue pushing the power steering pump starts running pressure over the relief valve. That's the noise you are hearing. It's also hard on the pump and heats the fluid very quickly. When driving make sure to avoid pushing the wheel to the end stops and if you hit...
The popularity of the older Evos has been climbing. Unfortunately mostly for the 5s and 6s it seems but if enough people start scooping up 1-3s maybe we have a chance. At this point I believe additive manufacturing will be what saves our cars. It is being adopted for out of production models by...
I am interested in the head gasket choice. The concept of the dual material design seems super interesting. Have you or Bushur used these before? Any thoughts on it?
I feel like I have seen the opposite trend. When I first got my Talon~10 years ago and visited this site I would have agreed with you. But as of late I have seen a shift towards adult owners looking for nostalgia or those who appreciate the capabilities of the platform and have money behind them...
First step is remove the ecu and open the case. See what you have in there. Might have ecmlink already which means you just need a cable and can simply download the factory settings from their site. But before buying anything see what you have in there. Also, the link you used is for a 91-94...
You can run stock fans on their shroud. The shroud may push the fans too close to the turbo/manifold as the factory fans are quite thick. Just another method of getting the stock fans mounted to an aftermarket radiator.
Or use their shroud. Unfortunately you can only get it with the fans included which are pretty much throw aways. But this is another method of getting them mounted.

The spool is similar. Roughly 4600 rpm for 20psi in 2nd gear, (not the best gear for measuring "spool" but it was where I spend most of my time). The power is made up in timing that the car would tolerate on the Holset that it wouldn't with the smaller Mitsu style housing.
Thanks! I am definitely a bit hesitant with launching this car. I'm certainly not a drag racing pro haha. I do have NLTS setup and have used it 2-3-4 on the 20g but haven't used it yet on this setup. I am sure it will cut a good chunk of time off once I get comfortable with that again. It...
These comments were awhile back but I did put together a comparison of the two turbos in excel by parsing the dyno graphs. You can see how much more responsive the car is on the Holset. Especially with E85, but there is still a gain with an apples to apples pump gas comparison. Same tuner, same...
UPDATE #43 - 6/27/2020 - First 1/4 Mile Runs on the HX35
First two passes on the Holset HX35 Setup and E85. Definitely lots left on the table but I am super happy with how the car performed. The 1-2 shift has proven especially difficult for me over the years. Looking at the logs, the car spent...
CX Racing has a kit. It isn't terrible but fitment is less than ideal. At least for me. But there really aren't many options for sidemount piping these days.

I am not familiar with fuel in Puerto Rico but using the US government alternate fuels map, they say you have 0 E85 stations available there. That is gonna make 10.5:1 insanely expensive to run if not impossible if you have limited access to good fuel. As stated above, those pistons probably...
I think you should start by detailing what you have on the car already. Fill out the vehicle profile. Then explain what you would like to use the car for. 280s in a drag car make a lot of sense. 280s with a 16g and you use the car to get groceries are gonna leave you disappointed. Go into detail...
My car is ~9.65:1 with the HKS 1.3mm gasket. The compression test was done when I had a 1.0mm gasket which resulted in 9.8:1. The head and block were both decked and prepped for the original MLS roughly 5k miles ago when the motor was first assembled. The head was off the car this past winter...
Hello all,
I have noticed my car is consuming coolant since switching to the Hx35 / E85 setup. Others have mentioned they see a spray from under the passenger side during a pull, my coolant overflow is on the passenger side of the car. Initially I assumed it was a head gasket issue. This past...
You'd likely be better off longer term using that 12v to switch a relay and let the relay with a direct battery connection handle the high current stuff. That's a relatively straight forward install and pretty cheap. I'd suggest going that route.
Actually, if you would like to bolt them on you will need a kit that has the proper fittings at both ends. See here.

Of the two other tracks they say they are considering, Thompson would have the same issue as Marion. That track is really not made for 7 (or sub 7) second passes. I've been going to that track since I was a kid and even in my 3G Eclipse with nothing but an Injen intake the shutdown area is not...
Looks like an event on the Marion County Raceway Facebook page. Scheduled for late September. According to the schedule on the website it was meant to be spring but I assume it has been pushed back. Says DSM/EVO
