You know I want a set. I managed to miss out on the V1. This was the only stock part of my suspension this whole time. Now if only I could get an aftermarket knuckle with more wheel clearance...
Thanks. I actually am in charge of timing and scoring/registration so I have an inside edge for event pics lol.
Sucks we have had to cancel so many but it seems we will be on for our June 7th event. Fingers crossed.
I'm going to look at making a different sized P/S pump pulley on the water pump. I noticed the pulley on the pump doesn't look like it comes off easily. There are a few ways to get it done. Thanks for the ideas.
I also have a question about my next mod. I am in the process of building a 2.3 6...
I have a spare P/S pump I can take apart and see. However I believe the reason it is in there is so the pump doesn't over pressurize and blow the seals on the rack. It might work for a stock rev limit because the pump is spinning within stock limits. I am going to try a 8k rev limit this year...
If you haven't been to any local events, you have good regions in Alabama, I highly suggest it before going to a National level event. It can get hectic because of the scale.
I was thinking of staying away from changing the crank pulley size. I was thinking of it as I need my waterpump to spin quickly because Running the car hard at slow speeds heats it up quickly. I'll look at the slower water pump. It just seems weird to me. Changing that spring is also an...
I did think about that last season. The problem is the P/S high preasure line goes directly over the pulley. It has maybe a few mm of clearance amd wouldn't gain much from making it that small amount bigger.
I would have to look into different fittings for power steering lines. Maybe a 90 out...
I think what started it was the July double header in Bristol, TN. The course was long and it was hot. I was being a real dick on the throttle the second event because I was pissed at how things were going. I'm sure that didn't help.
The power steering is cutting out at high rpms, the normal...
The trip to Nebraska was uneventful. The rental truck, a Ram 2500HD diesel, had no problems. Out of the 4 days of racing I raced on the last 2 days. Having the first 2 days to soak everything in and get a feel for how everything worked was great. The paddock had probably 700-1000 cars in it. A...
I left off after the double header on 4th of July.
The next major event I was preparing for was my first trip to Lincoln, NE to attend the Solo Nationals. This is the actual national event with 1300 drivers and people coming from all over the U.S. The event is held in the first week of...
In Mid-June there was another National level event in Toledo, OH. It was a ProSolo. In this event type there are 2 identical mirrored courses. The cars line up in the middle for a drag strip style tree start. Both cars line up at the tree and take off, one doing the left course and the other...
Well where to start. I didn't realize it has been since the beginning of July since I last updated. I probably won't do the whole thing in one post. I don't think I'll remember everything but there have been a lot of growing pains with delving farther into a Street Mod prepped DSM. Also, most of...
Thats me. I did wind up spinning a bearing on my 3rd run the first day. Thats why the run is so bad, I could hear it as I was going around and it messed me up haha. Crappy power steering cutout also held me back. I will give an update in a few days. I have a travel home day tomorrow.
Back on the first page, posts 21 and 25, it shows how I cut it into 2 pieces. The undertray part stays under the car at all times, its bolted on. The front piece that sticks past the bumper, and a little behind, is the removable section. On post 25 there are 2 little clamps on each side that...
The accusump is a piston with air on one side and the oil in the other. When the oil pressure builds it pushes oil to areas with less than pump pressure(the accusump). As the high pressure oil pushes the piston over it compresses the air side. This raises the air pressure(less volume, same...
Unless you have some type of solenoid valve on it, it won't hold pressure. Its supposed to have a valve so high pressure oil can come in and then only exit when the pressure switch for the solenoid goes below its value (supplying power and opening the solenoid). With the way you have it if the...
You could always try Nord-Lock washers as well. I don't have issues with things backing themselves out but if/when I do I will be buying the appropriate Nord-Lock washer. The video is cool because it shows how the different fasteners react to vibration
Last Sunday, 5/5, I went to a local regions event. It was a last minute thing that I decided to go. I didn't want to drive the car there and back (6 hour round trip) but renting a truck wasn't worth the cost. So, I packed the car up and headed down to Bowling Green, KY. The drive down was long...
Feal Coilovers are worth it. I had their 441 when it was 10k front and 6k rear two years ago I think. I actually ordered with a stiffer 13k up front so it was 100 bucks extra I believe. The best part about them I think is customer service. I switched to their 442s this off season and they...
There have been 2 points events since the last time I posted. The first one in the beginning of April was fun but wet. The forecast said the rain would stop in the morning so I didn't bring the slicks again because I was in the morning heat. I also switched to Continental Extreme Contact Sports...
Glad you are back. I'm really interested in what full DSP atire looks like. Its good to hear you had so much success with the Evo. I didn't go to Nationals but it sounds like I picked a good year to miss. I heard stories of the wakes of cars pushing cones out of the box because there was so much...
Its time for a racing season update! Finally the Autocross has started and with a great result. Last Sunday was our first "fun" (shakedown) event.
Got the front fenders cut for the flares and needed clearance. Super easy of course. I haven't cut into the rear yet because of the double wall in...
Maybe tell him you have a freelancer status on here? I wonder if he knows of your other successful work with suspension components. I would get if it was for some random small parts but this is one-off specialty parts that no one has done yet. Maybe a message from a few of us will coax him into it
@ec17pse Have you posted this to the DSM CLASSIFIEDS on Facebook? I thought I saw an ad from you before. Maybe post it up again? There are 2 groups with the same name and one has more members. It might get more attention now that its tax season. Just trying to help get the last few.
My season ended and the result wasn't as good as it should have been. I wound up 2nd again in my class for the season. Part of the issue was me changing so many things throughout the season. Also havent been keeping track of my setup/changes so I don't remember what worked and what didn't. I'll...
Thanks man. Autocross is fun. You'll probably be hooked like I was haha. Just worry about learning first, speed comes later. Did your stuttering problem wind up being the rocker arm? Ill post a build update here in a few.
I am more curious about the Autocross side of this question(not to thread jack). Im on a stock 2.0 with E85 and a E3 16g. Pretty much second gear all the time. Same hp goal as above. I eventually want a 2.3 stroker as well, maybe next off season. What would be a great turbo for the transient...
I wonder if it would be as simple as wiring a potentiometer inline with the power. I am not the best with electronics but if the voltage is what drives how hard the EPS works it might work, plus it would be adjustable. Like in the pic below
Congrats on the baby! Sounds like you ended your season well, nicely done. I have Autocrossed with Bobbys front uppers as well a few events and it really is crazy how much different it feels.
Just to make sure I have read this right, the Electronic option would just assist the power steering so you still have the feel? Or is it more like a full electronic steering without the feel?
Got mine too. Wonderful job and the packaging was very nice. I would also like to say thanks from the Autocross world. All of the suspension components that have come out have come at the perfect time.
Do you have no lift to shift? It will make for faster shifts and its a little nicer to the transmission for the high rpm shifts if I remember correctly. Plus you won't drop out of boost all the way. Hopefully nothing serious is wrong with your car. You should look up Nord-Lock washers. I have...
Can't wait to see your Talon back out there. It's fun seeing that a few are still making DSMs relevant.
I hear Nationals is still a crazy experience even if you were to just watch. Good luck out there and keep us updated.
I have yet to install my accusump and really need to but was wanting to get the fitting you got made (the 'T' with the 10an). Did someone on here make it for you? I would be willing to buy one from them.
I was on the fence about Nationals and decided not to go this year. I am in a weird spot...
I was going to talk to you about it and see if it is something that would peak your interest anyways haha. Add it to your collection of DSM products. :thumb:The SR20 only has one rocker per 2 valves which makes it a little easier for them.
Im not sure if its pressure related. I am on stock valve springs so I'm sure that doesn't help. I do have the Kiggly regulator though. A buddy of mine mentioned that the SR20s for the 240s have rocker arms pop off so much that they have actually a retaining bracket that holds them on. Apparently...
