Thank you, you are absolutely right! Better safe than sorry!
Don't know what's wrong because the link works just fine for me, but here's a google sheets copy:OBS: a stock GST build would be a lot cheaper.
Update:Disassembled the engine to figure out why it was burning oil... turns out it had fissures in two of the cylinders. Long story short, found a good deal and replaced the engine;
New rod bearings;
New piston rings;
New water pump;
New MAF;This is going to be...
Hey guys, just an update on my car:Here's how it's running:Rev:
https://youtube.com/shorts/f9DMjEvIDqY?feature=shareI haven't tackled the oil pressure gauge issue yet. Could anyone send me a pic of their wiring down there just for reference? Thanks! =)
Update:Got new MAF, there's no MAF error anymore, car idles better.
Did a smoke test yesterday and the inlet manifold is leaking. Will amend that today/tomorrow! =)About the oil pressure meter not moving, haven't tackled that yet. But I believe that I have a wire unplugged or so.
Thank you! I'll see to that (is that ºF or ºC?). Also, just realized that my oil pressure gauge does not move. The sensor is there, though. DSMs really are a headache ffs xD
What should the sensor be wired to? That oil pressure gauge problem might be a wiring one.The engine temp is correctly...
Hey guys, everything is mounted up now, but the car won't start unless I unplug the MAF. Also, when running without the MAF it runs weird (as it should)Here's a video of it running:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ngCJGnr9aokDoes anyone know what may be causing this?
Hey guys, sorry for not posting the photos of the fissured engine here, but I was presented with the opportunity to buy a whole engine for cheap (good condition, about 700€*) and didn't think twice. It was delivered 2 weeks ago, has already been machined to ensure everything is top-notch, got...
Trust me, I have seen the cracks... They are not too deep or anything because the car still runs, but they are there. It consumes oil and smokes a little bit if I accel too much instantly. But I'll post photos here tomorrow.Do you guys know which blocks besides 7 bolt Eclipse 4g63 and Evo...
Thanks! I'll talk to him and see what we can do about it.
Also, If I indeed decide to just get another block, would a 1G 6 block give me too much trouble?
Also, I know that the Evo IV+ 4g63 face the opposite side. Still, would it be feasible to use an Evo (IV+) block?
I have seen the block in person and I would say they look like cracks. I'll ask for pictures and tomorrow I'll post them here!
Thanks for the input!
The mechanic also told me that by machining the cracks out, the engine could become more fragile. Also, he couldn't tell how deep the cracks are...
Hey, so I was planning on converting my 4g63 naturally aspirated to turbo and decided to inspect the engine because it had been consuming way too much oil (needer 1 liter every 1000km or so).
Turns out I have a crack in each of the middle cylinders. The engine runs well, but... yeah its smoking...
Sorry for digging up this topic, but I have a question regarding the MDP/MAP and I felt like it would be better than creating a whole new topic..I'll be turbocharging my naturally aspirated 4g63 but I won't use ECMLink as it is way too expensive and the ECU is almost imposible to find, at...
Update on this build.I am foccused on repairing what needs repair.
Done:Repaired steering pump leak;
Replaced faulty alternator (may have been damaged due to steering pump leak).To do (in the next weeks/months):Replace MAF sensor;
Fix water infiltration in the hatch.To do (in the next...
Thanks!!!The 2G Eclipses weren't sold in Portugal, the ones that exist here are imported, like mine (from Germany).
Yes, the GSX was sold in Europe but they are very, very rare. There may be one or two in Portugal, if there are any.
I will, for sure. However, I am gonna take things very, very slow. I am in Portugal and parts are kinda hard to scrap here. And then there's the money bit. If only I had a German salary... :coy:
Thanks, I think that I'll really stick to my engine, rebuild it and then turbocharge it. As you said, there's no guarantee that used engines are in good shape and it would be more expensive to buy an engine and repaire it (or actually rebuild).
I know this topic is... ancient, but I have some doubts regarding this question and I think I'd better post here instead of creating another topic.I have a 2G GS with a n/a 4g63. Will the Galant VR4 4g63t fit perfectly on my car? I want to turbocharge my engine, but I figured it would be way...
Hi again everyone, hope you are having a great start to 2023!I come with another question! :D
Is the Outlander 4g63t the same engine as the one in 2g GST/GSX?
I found one here for sale in Portugal but I have my doubts if it will even fit. It looks like it is turned 180º (pic attached for...
So, I have the opportunity to buy an Evo 9 engine with just 19k miles for 3900€ (bet I can push it down by 200 or 300€). Would it be worth it to swap my 4g63 n/a with this evo 9 4g63? I think they sit on opposite sides... Still with all that work would it be worth it? I expect to spend at least...
Thank you all for your feedback and sorry for the delayed answers in my own post. I got blocked from accessing the forum. I don't really know why, so I tried using a VPN and here I am once again.That's a shame, I'll have to think this through. Are there any websites that you could recommend...
Hi, I am new to this community as I have recently (about two months ago) bought my first car ever, a 97 Eclipse GS.
After some research I got the idea that the GS version was 420a, but mine is clearly a 4g63 (I guess, pics attached). I am from Portugal and I couldn't find much info on dsms, as...
