    Removing your A/C & P/S belt= More horsepower?

Removing the a/c compressor also frees up room for alternater relocation to get it away from the heat of your turbo and manifold. I'm getting rid of mine for that reason, along with the weight reduction and less clutter. If you're just removing the belt, but not the whole system, then hp gains...

    Hesitation after new air filter

Haha!:thumb: The OP has done a pretty good job of derailing this thread himself, but you're right. Tybucki, any off topic questions from your original thread post will be answered much better and from a wider audience if you direct said topics to new threads.

    Hesitation after new air filter

I recommend royal purple ftw! All of my gears were grinding as well and hard to shift. I upgraded the shift plate bushings to a solid symborski kit, replaced shift lever bushings with teflon ones, replaced the shift end cable bushings with skateboard bearings, and properly adjusted the cable...

DSM OG's!!!!! Who bought a DSM during original production years, and was it new?

That is an awesome story!! Its storys like this that made me want to start this thread. I had a subscription to Turbo mag in the early 90's and remember reading those articles. It was also Turbo mag that introduced me to Buschur Racing which I think was called Alamo Autosports then? Its funny...

    block rebuild kit help

The mach v kit is definately the better of the two kits. I wouldn't waste any money on the ebay junk. At least the mach v kit is all Top Line parts, it'll get ya up and running. I wouldn't trust the timing belt or the oil pump though, go oem on the belt and just re-use your oil pump if its ok.

My First DSM Build am I forgetting anything?

No problem man! I definately understand that and for alll the parts you've listed including the cost of your car, that $2500 went a long way! Keep us posted on your build and happy DSMing man. ,;)

DSM OG's!!!!! Who bought a DSM during original production years, and was it new?

Haaaaaaaaahahahahaa!! That's great!! Yeah that definately counts!! I love how your wife is indirectly responsible for the birth of the best DSM site on the web! Cheers to that!:D

DSM OG's!!!!! Who bought a DSM during original production years, and was it new?

Exactly! Especially considering your talking about a brand new virgin DSM without a scratch on it, no miles, hasn't been neglected, abused, or beat up by some jackhole, and you can actually say you're the sole owner. Ahhh that new car smell! Plus one can easily spend 20k just trying to restore a...

My First DSM Build am I forgetting anything?

I'm sure you've already done the research and read plenty of threads on this subject but since no one has mentioned it I thought I'd bring it up. Since your using a n/t block without the oil squirters (unless your tapping them in), you may want to consider a forged piston setup. I know its a...

DSM OG's!!!!! Who bought a DSM during original production years, and was it new?

Haha! You might have missed out on the DSM scene in the 90's but you've definately made an impact on the DSM world with your compound turbo setup! Helluva revolution and inspiration man!

DSM OG's!!!!! Who bought a DSM during original production years, and was it new?

I'm sure you would have! The 90's was an epic decade for the advancement of 4 cylinder racing! It was awesome! I remember being pissed though because performance parts for DSM's in the mid 90's were scarce, Honda's had everything available! The internet was shitty and still dial-up, most parts...

DSM OG's!!!!! Who bought a DSM during original production years, and was it new?

Awesome! My Laser was a 1990, the 2G's had just come out and I wanted one bad but couldn't afford one. I wrecked it and completely destroyed it in 1998, and 1 month later I bought a 1991 Laser RS.

DSM OG's!!!!! Who bought a DSM during original production years, and was it new?

Did anybody actually buy their DSM brand new? Do you still have it? What year and model? How much did you pay? This interests me, I bought my first DSM in 1996, I was 16 years old and bought a Laser RS with 70,000 miles on it for right at $5000. Who else is a DSM OG???? I'd especially love to...

WARNING!!!! Front Lower Control Arms; Dorman vs. Raybestos

I know right! I didn't contact Dorman either? They must have people who scour the web reading reviews and looking for feedback. It really makes me feel good that my review might actually make a real difference in how Dorman control arms compare to OEM quality and design. Dorman products also...

    Project Ebay

Haha! Use the arp's then, since there aren't any ebay knock offs available. But as for myself, I'd love to see how the ebay bottom end stock replacements hold up, especially with the rest of the build plan. It's your call though and I'm not gonna flame ya no matter what you end up doing. I think...

Yeah, usually if you see oil leaking from your exhaust ports on the head its either valve stem seals or cracked, worn out valve guides.

not the average Timing belt question

Good luck to you 300hpbound! And don't be too alarmed by the 7 bolt 4g63? Its still a great motor! They are a little more prone to crankwalk but its still a 4g63! Its still wayyyyyyyy less likely to crankwalk than the 420a 7 bolts.

not the average Timing belt question

The 7 bolt timing belt kit is the same as the 6 bolt timing belt kit. This link helps identify them and tells you the models the 7 bolts were on. How to quickly tell a 6bolt and 7bolt engine apart Get the 1g 6 bolt kit if you can't find one for a 7 bolt, they are the same.

    Stainless steel timing belt cover

That upper cover would be pretty awesome if it was enclosed w clear plastic, or if it could fit over the plastic covers as an accessory! Wicked look!
  28. joOse

    Stainless steel timing belt cover

I think separating the 2 halves of the lower cover somewhere along the blue line in the picture below would be best. Thats probably how I'd do it. And I realize that for everyone who has eliminated power steering and a/c its alot easier to remove the lower cover with the engine in the car...

    Stainless steel timing belt cover

Yeah it looks cool but its kinda pointless as far as protection from junk falling into the lower timing belt cover area and shredding the belt. Its good for show though, I still like the clear upper covers the best.
  30. joOse

    Stainless steel timing belt cover

Since your're going through the trouble of making a ss lower cover, you should definately try and design it to be in two halves. It would make it a lot easier to remove with the engine in the car. I've thought about making and designing my own for a while now where its 2 halves, one half would...

Front control arm, pitted rear spindle?

That sounds like it should work and be strong enough to me. I hope it works out for you. I had thought about doing something similar but not as in depth as your plan. WARNING!!!! Front Lower Control Arms; Dorman vs. Raybestos

Most 1g lower front control arms are about 20 years old by now and have seen their fair share of wear and tear and either need to be serviced or replaced. There are a few replacement options available greatly varying in price, quality, and serviceability that I am going to discuss in this...

    Hesitation after new air filter

Like the wise man said its definately an idle surge issue. But just as an added point, anytime you swap out stock filters for high flow filters or increase the airflow by any means you have to re-adjust your biss you compensate for the increase in airflow.

Needing Insight on Subframe/Lower Control Arm

Yeah that's just the front pivot of the control arm. Jus remove it. One suggestion I've found out the hard way. Don't replace youre control arm with a Dorman control arm! They are non serviceable! Energy suspension bushings will not fit them ( too lose) and no after market ball joints will work...

Is a Eclipse GS a good Place to start?

The gs is a great start, but it alllll depends on persoal use. Do you plan on this car being a daily driver, build it for speed, or show car? It all depends. If this is your first dsm a gs is a great way to learn about allllll the finicky and time taking stressful issues of maintaining and...

    Turbo Computer swap

You'll be just fine with the nt tranny. You shouldn't be boosting over like 7 psi on the nt pistons anyhow and the nt tranny will hold up just fine. You'd definately be way better off swapping out the pistons and cams for the turbo counterparts. Anything over 7 psi for long periods of time and...
