ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

Glad to hear. I really love these ECU's. My 1G ran amazing and smooth with the Evo/3G ECU.Currently running a blackbox in my new 2G as well, with the Tactrix 2.0 cable and ECUflash/EVOscan. Also a great ECU and I have used this in a previous 2G as well.

Good information, thanks man. Added a ton of more info about the swap in my site, www.eatsleepdsmmag.com

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

I don't usually like to do this but I am not sure what else I can do to be 100% helpful to others since you aren't able to edit your originally post. I have PM'ed admins about them adding stuff for me but no response.

ECUflash Evo 8 ECU swap, still knock after setup with stock maps at waste-gate; what's wrong?

Did anybody test this out to see if the 1G Green Top CAS gives you additional timing? I am having an issue with knock. I adding some timing to my WOT and I keep getting weird counts of knock where I don't believe I should be getting knock. I don't believe I am running enough timing to get knock...

    1G Need help - 3 PLUG EVO 8 ECU in 1G

I have never heard of our seen a 3 plug Evo VIII ECU before. Are you sure it's not an Evo III ECU or something? I am pretty sure all Evo VIII ECU's have 4 plugs. My SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU In 1G Documentation thread doesn't have all the information because DSMtuners won't let you edit the original...

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

I've been receiving several PM's about using the Evo ECU in a 1G. I cannot add to/edit the original post on here because it won't let you, so for anyone needing all the information in one spot, see my write up on my personal website-...

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

That's where I would start, even if it is two separate issues and the crank sensor problem isn't causing the stuck 5* timing.I remember seeing a couple posts on here about other people having stuck 5* timing on just a regular dsm with an eprom ecu. Usually it was always related to the...

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

Hmm..you would think the car would die when it cuts out. Are you certain that the CAS wiring is correct and the wiring involved is good?
  9. fourgsixthree33

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

...The ignition wire is only supposed to see 12v until the engine fires up. The guy had constant 12v to this wire and it made the timing stick at 5* because the ecu couldn't fully tell that the engine was started. Like it thought the car was still in cranking mode. so, It Wasn't Ecu related, the...

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

Yeah, many people have idle issues. What exactly is yours doing? I had to change my short term fuel trim settings. Idle would almost die, then it'd throw fuel in to try to compensate, but it was too much, so the idle would raise, then it'd fall back down, then it'd shoot back up. See my write up...

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

I'm not sure what exactly is different with the 2000 3G ECU's, but I know others that have tried then and they said they are different and will not work.

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

As per the Evo knock sensor stuff, I can no longer edit the main post. I guess once a few days pass after any post, it is no longer available to be edited. Thus, I have not been able to go back and add or change stuff. I've PMed a couple admins to edit it for me, but never did get a response. Or...

I will have to look at my pinout on my obd1 connector. I do believe you are correct, pin 6 of the obd1 to pin 79 of the ecu.

1G Slipping Under Boost- Transfer Case?

Agreed. It most certainly could have made matters worse. Puts a lot of stress on the VC.
  15. fourgsixthree33

1G Slipping Under Boost- Transfer Case?

Yeah, I have heard horror stories about people's transfer case completely locking up while driving. F-that ha. I definitely got lucky, hopefully it didn't cause any damage on any of the transmission parts. When I put a new transfer case on her, I will post back.
  16. fourgsixthree33

1G Slipping Under Boost- Transfer Case?

There was some fluid, but not nearly as much as there should have been. It looks like the seal on the output shaft side was leaking. There is tons of fluid in that general area of the transfer case and transmission.I definitely haven't noticed any hopping, chirping, etc in regards to having a...

1G Slipping Under Boost- Transfer Case?

I got some great news. I jacked up all four wheels off the ground and pulled the transfer case. Input shaft still spun when in gear. So, I removed the cover off of the transfer case. I found the problem. The output shaft spun the first gear/pinion inside the transfer case. But the teeth are...

1G Slipping Under Boost- Transfer Case?

Alright, so when I remove the transfer case, you want me to see if the output shaft spins? By hand or when starting the car? It stopped raining so I might go out and pop off the transfer case real quick.

1G Slipping Under Boost- Transfer Case?

A little update. I took the car up to the shop today and put it on the lift to verify that the rear wheels would not spin when in gear. Again, the fronts spun while the rear did not. I noticed some fluid on the transfer case as well, although I couldn't pinpoint where it came from.On the way...

1G Slipping Under Boost- Transfer Case?

Thanks for the replies guys. I can't describe the humming noise really, other than that it was just a humming noise. I haven't really heard a clanking noise or anything like that.I should have a working transfer case and center diff./VC from my wrecked 95 AWD. The transfer case will work, I...

1G Slipping Under Boost- Transfer Case?

92 GSX, 5sp, 4 bolt rear.Ever since I built this 1G, there has been a loud humming noise at cruise/decelerating. The other day, I took the car for an hour and a half ride to see a DSM buddy. On the way home that night, I was just cruising around 55MPH and I heard a louder humming noise. It...

2G engine in 1G no front motor mount?

I did this years ago. Why? Because I had a low mileage 2G block and a 1G with a spun bearing. So, I pulled the 1G 7 bolt out and dropped in the 2G bottom end.We fabricated up our own roll stop mount to work with the 1G front engine mount bracket. The other end bolted to the lower ear of the...

AutoMeter Short Sweep Electronic Oil Pressure Gauge Issues

Yep, the gauge lights are also running to the same power/ground from the gauge. Same with the mechanical water temp gauge lights. So with that said, the power/ground from the gauge light on the oil pressure gauge is going to the same power source as the power/ground wires for the sender.

AutoMeter Short Sweep Electronic Oil Pressure Gauge Issues

Awhile ago, I bought an AutoMeter short sweep electronic oil pressure gauge for my build. I finally got around to installing it along with the sending unit and remote sending unit kit. It wouldn't work, the gauge always reads 0.So thinking either my sending unit and/or the gauge itself was...

    Street Build SPOOLIGAN- Poison Ivy

Another late update. The car is running AND driving now. A few days ago, we had some really nice weather. In the 60's even. I took advantage and went out and installed the driveshaft with the Torque Solutions solid bushing kit, then put the transfer case on, and then slid the axles in. The next...

    Street Build SPOOLIGAN- Poison Ivy

Haven't updated this in awhile. The car has been running for a few weeks. The Evo ECU is working nicely, the car sounds awesome, antilag/launch control sounds awesome, the car is coming together. Yesterday, I put my driveshaft, transfer case, and front axles in. Finished putting my slave...

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

I would also like to add that the pinout between the 3G ECU and Evo ECU is in fact the SAME. The 3G ECU does not have the pin for the BCS (Boost Control Solenoid), so that pin is empty. Everything else is the same. So, if you use a 3G ECU, you use the Evo pinout when making your patch harness.
  33. fourgsixthree33

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

Things have been going pretty smooth still. Got my antilag/launch control running very well. Yesterday I put the drivetrain on the car and in the morning, I will be bleeding my clutch and the car should be movable. Have to do some things before I can actually drive it but shouldn't be long...

Haha, thanks man.UPDATE: I went out today and started the car. I let it run for awhile and it idled fine (even with my torn TB gasket, just been too lazy to replace it). I confirmed that the antilag/launch control features DO WORK. I took a video with the antilag. I will be posting it soon...

ECUflash SPOOLIGAN's Evo ECU in DSM Documentation

Finally overcame an issue I have been having the last few days. When I first put the Evo ECU in with the patch harness, the car ran but it ran really really rough. When revving it, it sounded like an IC pipe was disconnected. When switching back to my 1G DSM ECU, the car ran perfect...

Yeah, no problem. You know what I'm talking about then. So you understand why I would want to clear things up for others. It's 2016, we should have a larger, well documented, easy to find thread about everything you need to know.

The Evo 8 ECU to DSM stuff really isn't documented well, at all. I'm going to change that. The information is out there, but it's very hard to dig it all up and connect the dots. Not to mention deciphering what actually applies to you and your setup. All the different variations. 1g/2g car...

True, it would have been easier.True, DSMlink would have easily allowed me to achieve my goals.True, DSMlink is an awesome source for tuning.I just prefer ECUflash. I think the fact that there isn't nearly as much info out there on the Evo ECU in DSM's is one of the biggest reasons why I...

The ECU is a lot more advanced than our 20+ year old ECU's. The Evo ECU's are obviously capable of a lot more. I ran a Blackbox in my 2G and loved ECUflash. And....I like being different. I respect with ECMlink has done for our community over the years but everyone and their brother is using Link.
