I have a few videos of the car running if anyone's interested I can send the via email or text. The stock gauge (I know is inaccurate) also reads about -5hg @ 950 rpm.
...know it should be lower. I have checked mechanical timing it's perfect, boost leak tested to 40psi no leaks. Idle is set at 950rpm. Base timing is *5 degrees, base idle and fuel pressure are all set. I can't get my profile to update so here is the quick recap of what I'm running.BC 280 cams...
I'm glad to hear they have been used with success . The ones I am using are DOT approved ones used on semis and concrete trucks. I like that under boost the can not pop off and are clean looking I plan on using them for everything I can.
That's what I was also wondering I know they use them on trucks for their air system but I wasn't sure how they would deal with vacuum. I picked up a bunch today and will try them out on my build and see what happens I guess. I like that they can not blow off under boost.
Forgive me if this in the wrong thread, I am thinking about using push lock air lines and fittings for all of my vacuum lines has any one done this and what was their experience? Here is what I'm thinking of using...
Well the motor is off at the machine shop, they called me oblast week with a run down it sounds like it was about 4 times what I had planned for so that will slow me down some. But the good news is I have plenty of time to fix a lot of the last owners wiring and do some cleaning up.
I think 500-600hp won't be hard but I'm just going to hold back for street use. That's why I have a low goal. And for durability. But when I dyno it I'll push it for sure
I was able to get my progressive meth spray kit installed, the tank is in the trunk and ran a 16ft -4an braided line to the front. I like how it came together.
A little update on the progress. This last weekend the car got all new brake componates and today will be getting a stm abs delete kit and braided full clutch line put on it.
We are in contact and he is looking he thinks he may have lost it on the way to ship it. .I have not installed the cams or even the bolts yet I just set the cam caps on the head. I'll take the cam cap off my other head tonight and torque the caps with the cams in and the rockers out and spin...
That's great news. I didn't pay much for the head so spending a little to have it fixed is fine . Especially with all the parts and porting . I can't buy one new for what I paid.
Recently I bought a used head that was barely used. Fully potter and polished. Ti retainers and bc springs along with 1mm over ferrea valves and new guides and 3G lifters. When I recieved the head and bag of cam caps and lifters I installed them to find that the I1 cam cap is missing. My...
I'm glad to see a few guys that like them. It seems like most of the reviews are from a few years back so I was not sure if it was something that bc had problems with and fixed it or if it was just the users not liking the cams.
I have found a few threads that were pretty old on the BC280 cams , I am curious if anyone is running them now and how they feel about them? I havea chance to trade my hks 264/272 cams for a set of bc280's. My profile isn't updated because it won't let me update it so here is a current mods...
After I was able to remove the lettering and lines I started with 80 grit sand paper and worked my was from 150, 220, 320, and then 600 grit paper. I hit it with a mothers power ball quick to see how it looked and there were a few scratches and nicks in it yet, so I will have to re hit it again...
I have some time while I have the motor at the machine shop so I thought I'd try to shave and polish my valve coverFirst I started with a grinder and cut off wheel to shave the big parts and raised lettering off
They turns on the cable are a little tight but I have slid the cables in and out and they move smoothly and freely so I don't not think that will be an issue . Or I hope not lol.
I am giving it a try, I have not seen much in relocation of the cruise control so I'm giving a try while my motors is out here is what I have so far . I think it should work.
I was able to get the car to the shop and cleaned up this weekend and now I'm getting the engine bay cleaned up before parts start coming in to get it back together.
One of the parts I ordered came in today and lucky for me I'm off and it's a blizzard out so out came the mothers polish !I also went with fic1600cc injectors instead if 1250s
i have a chance to pick up what we think is a prototype fp black with low miles on it. But I am not for sure that it is a black or not. Is there any way to tell what the turbo really is? Here are some pics if they help at all.
Welcome ! Like said you can not use the search button enough on here it's a valuable tool. Take your time, read, and do it right the first time and you will enjoy the car a ton more then if you take shortcuts :)
Those holset pages are packed with so much info it's overwhelming to find stuff sometimes. Correct me if I'm wrong please .For a holset install I'll need to...Get the obvious the turbo, bep housing
An external dump setup
Oil feed line with restricter from the oil filter housing
