Just wanted to update the thread! Finally doing the build! Used a 90 hyundai sonata 2.4. The 6 bolt!! So pumped... at the shop now getting cleaned up. Running 9-1 wiesco, with h beam eagles, stock crank! Ill try and post a build thread if I have time!!
A few of us non turbo guys are looking for different options regarding remote tunes for our strokers. Can we get a suggestion please? We know of Stacy Blankenship (he's out) and ryan detweller. Who else? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I couldn't think of a better forum to post this in so...
YES!! Finally found 2 engines that will work. The mighty max wont but i found a summit and a galant both with the same engine so ill pick the better of the 2!! So excited! do you know anything about the sumit?
Does a 91 mighty max 2.4 L automatic block bolt up to the n/t 1G 4g63 6 bolt head and transmission? Trying to rebuild the mighty max engine and bolt up for a stroker.
i threw away the old eprom once i put my chip on... any other way to identify i have pictures. The problem I'm having is when i put my chip in and ran my car i hit 6k and the car lost power. Did it every time i was around that area. What could this be linked to?
Have a chip built for my 2.0 NT 1g to allow for rev delete and larger injectors.
1. I socketed the board and put the chip in. When I ran up around 6000 rpms the car lost all power... did this every time I got around 6k. What could this be due to.
2. If I do need a new ecu what all ecu's can I...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Sirius_engineSame I read im assuming, your list is more helpful. Biggest problem im having is will the trany bolt up
Now thinking about doing this! Did a different set up that has been working great but its time to get those torque numbers up! What galant can i pull the 64 out of. Everyone gives the same bull shit answer to google ... well i have but no one gives exact years. OR ANYONE who has tried it and...
Thanks for this link... my cars a n/t but is using what i thought was a turbo clutch but now reading this im assuming it is a awd clutch! Thats CRAZY. as im comparing pictures they look the same. I hate to spend the money but id love to find out!
Name says it all can i use turbo flywheel with a non turbo transmission if I use a turbo clutch? I understand the clearance issue, i will take care of that.
I think I'm pretty set on a high revving motor running around 8g in 2nd. If I can find some high compression pistons and lighten the rotational mass I believe 160 would be easy to hit. Only problem is finding the pistons and figuring out what kind of compression the block can handleYou always...
This is definitely something I've been thinking of however lots of problems come up. I've tried to put a turbo tranny on a non turbo and it DOES NOT WORK! It would have been nice as it is better built but nope shield doesn't match up, bolt holes are different and it's too long to fit in. Then...
Pretty much the same rules ... supposed to be all stock but no one fallows it. What ive heard of people doing is taking the gallant block and trowing my head on. Ive been reading on it a bit the main problems ive encountered are 1. motor mounts 2. what transmission to use 3. timing. AS we both...

YOU WERE RIGHT! Torque numbers arent much better but hp is up to 148. 9.8:1 compression. Thats awesome ... shows atleast that this n/t with diff pistons and more aggressive fuel trim is capable of some # bumps... Im curious with my cams and...
Update on build ive gone with cams 274 delta regrinds + spacers... put the original injectors in and waiting on my chip. As everyone has said and i knew THE STROKER IS EXPENSIVE. Ill keep it in my mind for the off season but for now i dont have enough time.Im going to try this ... .maybe...
&I can always count on you two to hit up my posts! Pistons, rods, and valve train are next thing I want to go with! Looking for some 10.5 : 1 ... looking used because like we talked before its a track car. I was thinking about the light weight fly wheel but the problem I've been thinking...
I would agree its amazing what good handling and tires can do but I'm all set on that! With wide banked ovals its not as easy for us to block the track... way to fast and way to much track. I need help with my chip and any other improvements I've overlooked! Ill check out the page for sure...
Forgot to mention that I've got my suspension DIALED in! The car runs on rails... were pretty limited to what we do but i have all brand new struts and plenty of spring rubber! Also forgot to mention our track is banked!
Hey everyone, mid season on a 3/8th mile dirt track out here in cali / hornet division. We start around 3k rpms so low rpm horsepower is meaningless to me. About to add a pre burn chip and wondering what to say for the set up? Really the computer portion is a bit out of my understanding.
Current...
I didnt see this until I started to review my old posts... you said the gallant crank, pistons, and rods will fit????? Obviously with machining for clearance but is the general fit there?. Have you seen this build done because I cant find anyone who has actually done it?! This seems to be the...
If I was to stroke a way to save money that I've been seeing all over this forum and you spoke of is the galant 100mm crank, rods, and pistons. This can be pulled from a low mileage junk. Since hp wont be that high this would hold, but how is the fit? I understand machining will have to be done...
Typical newbie ? but looking for opinions not advice ... Around $1000 to spend and want to do a stroker but haven't heard of a single n/t doing a stroker build (yes i know it would cost around 2000 with a kit but I'm talking if I have the crank already) ANYWAY... Im looking to spend about $1000...
I understand that i would be asking for troubles by using stock components in a true rebuild that i would be bulking up a few hundred hp but im also not attempting build up my engine to 600 hp... shit im not even looking for 200 hp.. I'm looking to bump my n/a up to anything over 160. Anything...
I understand my original budget was un-realistic, I thought I could use alot more stock component but now I see I was wrong... hence posting as a newbie. However, I see no reason I couldn't get this done for around $1000.
Pistons for around $500
found a hyundai 6 bolt crank for $140
you say i...
Sorry I miss read that! Do you have a suggestion of a site to buy from? Maybe a link?
A cheep question tho. Would shorter rods provide more stability with the stock pistons? Ik that sounds crazy and is probably wrong but my thought is if the rod is lower it would still maintain the stroke level...
The 91 Hyundai Sonata had the 6 bolt 4g64 motor with a 100mm stroke so it seems to be the obvious choice. I dont want to bore more than .03 but the increase in crank will stroke me to 2.3. Will this be a direct fit? I know if i was to use the whole long block I would have to change trannys so im...
I'm not positive which is which but I believe rod journal diameter, the attachment point of the rods?
What rods would you suggest? You said 8 mm less? I've got a set of NPR pistons in mind or maybe just use stock I don't know yet. This is a Friday night dirt track car so I'm on a pretty low budget.
GREAT! That was what I thought but I wasn't sure if it would be a direct fit! What is the crank shaft connecting point piston diameter?
How does the timing set up work? What will I need to do?
Im trying to do a stroker build. Will the 91 Hyundai sonata crank shaft drop into my 92 eagle talon n/t 6 bolt. Bumping stroke up to 100mm then I will buy new rods and pistons? Ik this message is short but It's cut and dry what im asking? Please help my newbie ass!
I KNOW! Either that or the people that just talk shit! They dont take the time to read why I'm asking these questions. Yea ill have to look into cams ... i know there are a lot of interchangeables with the 7 bolt but i havent found any help on the 6! Thanks for the help hopefully i get some 6...
Thanks for your input. Makes complete since! That's a problem i'm finding on here that not a lot of people know non turbo! In my class of racing headers are illegal. As far as everything else in your edit, i have stock manifold into dump pipe into 2 feet of exhaust and a turn out under passenger...
I thought that it was 7.5:1 but I was wrong you are correct. The turbo is the 7.5. I guess I wont be gaining any compression. If I am increasing the bore size how am i not increasing displacement when I would Honing the cylinder to a smooth surface and creating an .030 of fuel and air space...
I found the set for 125$ on dsm graveyard (which i know everyone hates)
NPR Piston Set w/ Rings - 4g63 6 Bolt - Non Turbo - (9 to 1) comp. rating
w/ 85.75 (.03 OVER) or 85.5 (.02 over)1g Eagle Talon---- N/T----. Goal of around 160hp. If I went this route I would be running at 2.2L? This would...
Thanks for your input!!!! V3 ECU LINKS are so damn pricey I really can not afford it! Im currently looking into stroking my car and this will be extremely helpful!
What cams would you suggest? Yea building a stroker seems to be the best bet for my situation. I need as much torque as possible and that seems to be a way to get it. I'm getting pulled on hard out of the corner. I don't know if I want to go as far as zero decking it or having my pistons pop...
I was reading posts about the hyundai engines as well but they are hard to find. It would be a similar build i'm assuming? Long block Hyundai with the dohc of the 1g. Or would I use the rod and pistons out of the hyundai and bore my block? Further more could I do something like this with the...
