Got a very cool package the other day. Can’t wait to get it in the car and add some cooling to the trans as well. Gotta do everything to keep the trans happy.
We were pouring water on the radiator with the fans on, engine idling and my big blower blowing on it. That was the only was to get it to cool down. Taking it all apart this off season, so we’ll see how everything looks
When we were at gridlife NJMP, it was insane. My CEL comes on at 234°. It would come on and I would know I had two hot laps to get it done. Mind you, it would come on during my second lap. Out lap, half way through the first hot lap the light would come on, the end of that lap water temp gauge...
Yeah. It was insane. Not sure how the head didn’t lift or blow a head gasket. Not gonna go E85. Hard to get at the race track. And I have a couple other personal reasons lol
Yeesh…..my coolant temps were at 250….and thats only cause that’s where the gauge stops. Working on some cooling system ducting and possibly an electric water pump.
That’s super interesting! Many water temps were insane at NJMP a couple weekends ago. Granted the high 90’s ambient temps aren’t typical, but it got to the point that even with the fans on, engine running and my blower fan blowing on the radiator, we had to start dumping bottles of water on the...
All up in your face with the resurrection…..how has this setup held up? I plan on doing something similar this off-season. Lime Rock always breaks my 4th gear, presumably from all the high speed/high G right handers. I’m also going to use the boostin’ bearing plate to keep shaft deflection down...
Update:
NJMP Thunderbolt.
1:27.182 via transponder
GridLife Track Mod class winning lap and current GridLife Track Mod record at that track.
New time set on 265/35-18 Nangkang CRS. Yeah, the Yokos are good, but the nangkangs are gooder lol
The accusump was by far the best investment in engine longevity I made. No more dry starts and oil pressure being fed to the motor at all times, regardless of what’s happening in the pan. I want to do the Frontline oil pump setup, and that’ll be the last step before going full dry sump.
Thanks! So, that’s the oil pressure gauge. But before you freak out, the gauge is reading what the pick up is seeing. I have the accusump in the car so take what that gauge says with a grain of salt. Even with the moroso pan, with all the trap doors and stuff, still losing oil at the pickup...
Thank you man! Left a lot on the table especially into T1. Was trending faster on the next lap, but the fuse for the MFI relay popped. Not sure why. It was extraordinarily hot that weekend, so maybe that had something to do with it. But it’s still a win!
Thank you! I’m still in shock. I’ll post a video soon. For some reason the video and the sound aren’t stitched together right and the video is a second or two ahead of the sound.
Hell yeah man!!! Congrats!!! Yeah they are. Car got a lot of attention. Evo Ben from Gears and Gasoline came over on Friday night and talked about the car for a bit. Then Dewey came by. Comes flying into the garages n a scooter and was like “I heard there was a DSM in here and I had to come see...
So updates: got the car home and took the trans apart, and as expected one the gates in the shift selector broke. I had spares so I was able to make a pretty quick repair. The trans is back in the car and car is on the trailer ready to head down to GridLife at NJMP this weekend. Excited/nervous...
NJMP update. Rain. Saturday was rain pretty much from 9am on. It finally stopped at around 7:30ish. And it wasn’t a hard rain most of the time. There were some very light sprinkles. But it made the day a lot fun. Think the boost solenoid has died. No control of boost so I just bypassed it to run...
Loaded up and almost ready to go. Just have to load the truck when I get home we out! Looking like rain at least the first half of the day, so it’s going to be a rainx type situation. I’ll bring my power probe, a switch/relay and a wiper and see if it gets bad enough to warrant taking time to...
Race Week!!! A couple things to finish up and load the car on the trailer on Thursday and head down Friday. Excited!! By far my fave event of the summer.
Car is back on the ground. Excited to get the car on the trailer and go down to NJMP next weekend! If you’re around, stop by! Spectators are free. And we’re doing track walks Friday and Saturday evening.
If you’re sitting on false grid just idling I get it. But at speed, if fumes are getting in the car, there’s a bigger issue. I know that if you have a hood exit or bumper exit, you need to have a ventilation system for your helmet.
NJMP prep is almost complete. Finished the exhaust yesterday and picked up my new tires. Went with the Nangkang CRS sized 265/35-18. Excited to try them out. A couple more little odds and ends to finish up before we go racing next week. Looking to go faster than I did last year. Crossing my...
Excellent. The two hardest things were locating the eyelet for the right side lap belt and squeezing the exhaust back in the space. Had to take my 3” oval pipe and stand it up. Definitely going to have to heat wrap it and gold foil or another heat barrier between the new tunnel and exhaust.
Is that how you did yours? I used to have the brackets running parallel to the centerline of the car, but after putting the cage in, it was way to far drivers left and was bumping my head on the rollcage. The only thing I’m not super happy with is it now sits a little higher than it did. Have to...
Been working on moving my seat over so my heads not bumping against the rollcage. Moved the seat over as far as I could. Definitely better as far as head clearance is concerned. 2 weeks till NJMP with EMRA. Which means one month till NJMP with Gridlife.
Getting ready for my next events in July. First up is EMRA at NJMP July 9-10. Then we’re back at NJMP July 23rd-24th with Gridlife. Not sure I’m going to make GTA back at NJMP a couple weeks later. It’s just a lot of time away from home. So last weekend I cleaned the garage. Got the trailer back...
Palmer update.
Got the car fired up the Tuesday before the event. Transmission made a very loud buddy noise that went away when I stepped on the clutch. Decided to take the trans apart in the car. Discovered a bad bearing on the intermediate shaft. Figured it’s in an oil bath, it’ll be ok...
Alright. Been a minute for an update. Just been so busy with things. Got parts from some friends and got the trans reassembled with a Magnus billet 3/4 shift fork. Working on some ideas for the off season already to keep the trans alive. But, for now, got the trans reassembled, and back in the...
Found the culprit of why the shifter was jammed. As fourth started to come apart, a tooth got wedged behind the shift rails. Actually pretty lucky, cause had the gear come all the way apart, it would’ve put a hole in the case. So I’ll take the silver lining. Got some parts lined up. The...
