I am deciding not to do alot of body work this summer just so I can enjoy the car. Once winter hits that's when the magic will begin. I'll just do upgrades and stay on maintenance. I'm at 270 miles and zero problems so far.
Thank you very much. Everyone's kind words mean alot to me. Without the motivation I never would have finished it. If anyone ever wants to do the job here's proof on how much work it really is. I'm no professional either I do not do body work or weld for a living. I just love to learn new things...
A little update I installed a new knock sensor and my boost issues went away. I now have 176 miles on the build and I couldn't be happier. I have a huge smile everytime I make a pull. I put the 14b turbo back on and it feels great.
Just went through your whole build thread and man I've been lucky. You've gone through alot but stuck with it, and we are all proud. Keep at it, in the end it'll all be worth it trust me.
Tonight I wired up my slim fan to the stock plug. I found an old connector that plugged in to retain the factory harness. I'm trying keep as much factory wiring as I can since it was in such nice shape.
Thank you! I'm really happy how it turned out. I'm glad I did the manual swap also it's way more fun. The first gear grind kind of went away, it shows up once in awhile. I'll try adjusting that rod, I think it's out a ways so it would reach the master.
Thanks man that means alot. I know what I was getting myself into when I started, and you were right it was well worth it. I couldn't be happier with it. I'm glad I documented it all. I'm also glad everyone was really supportive, I think that's what really kept me going.
I've been taking it easy on the car but I finally have over 100 miles on the build. The more I drive it the better things seem to get. I also got my exhaust all hooked up and it sounds great. Next up is body work and paint.
The synapse bov requires a boost only source so thats why it's T in to the wastegate and turbo. I read up on it and it's very strange how they want it set up.
Testing up to 15 psi and it takes about a minute or more for it to bleed off. I ditched the boost controller all together yesterday to eliminate that. So it makes about 10 psi now on wastegate but it's weird because sometimes it'll only make 5 pounds. My boost gauge is tied in with the stock fpr...
I have no more boost leaks and brand new plugs and wires. I just checked the plugs again last night to make sure they were gapped correctly. I'm at a loss I've been swapping parts with spares I have laying around, and nothing changes. My idle is perfect, it revs perfect, and drives perfect...
I'm using nothing to tune with the car is running all stock. I thought it was fuel cut but it more or less gives a quit cut and then it's fine. I don't go flying through the windshield like everyone explains it. I don't even have to be in boost and it'll do it. Feels gutless unless I find the...
This may be a very long post so bear with me. I have been doing process of eliminations and I'm getting closer, but I don't want to just throw parts at the car. I have been having a very strange boost issue and everything I do doesn't make it any better. I started with a 14b turbo with a swapped...
Well the shake down runs were successful tonight. I will now have to figure out my weird boost situation. I also have a weird 1st gear grind and the transmission developed a nice leak. I think before I dive into the trans I'll get it running and driving perfect first.
Yeah I wasn't planning on racing it right now anyways. I want to enjoy the summer with it since it's been 2 long years. I'm definitely going to polish them up and get some new tires on, I like the white letter to so I'm going to try to find a set.
Yeah I had to buy those control arms because the car was so tweaked, there not bad. Thanks for the compliment on the wheels. I was going to buy new ones but I'm for sure keeping them on the car. They grew on me for sure.
Oh dang it already had one in there. I see what you are trying to do. I didn't know if you needed or even wanted to put another head on. I'm so anal when it comes to that stuff.
So I swapped throttle bodies with another I had laying around and it seems to be idling alot better. I still have to mess with the tps a little since I screwed with that.
It's been awhile but the swap is 100 percent complete. It runs but I'll have to sort out the idle surge it currently has. It has no leaks and everything is factory setup so it shouldn't be to hard to diagnose.
Trying to sell off some of my good parts everything I post is best offer from what I'm asking. The sidekirts have rock chips but not bad. 1 or 2 clips broken otherwise all there. I'll have to check on shipping if there are any serious buyers.
Forced performance turbo for sale hasn't been used for years with minimal miles. It's a little dirty but has been stored properly. I was planning on using it someday but that day isn't ever going to come unfortunately. My asking price is 900 plus shipping. Thanks
I have 97 eclipse side skirts and door caps that I'm never going to use. They do have imperfections from being used like rock chips and what not. I will ship but they will be in a big make shift box. 550.00 shipped
Mine fully snapped and took alot of metal with it so I just welded it all up and used a regular bolt. If everything had went well I would of just reused everything.
Your best option is a megasquirt and many of the guys here on the forum usually suggest that. You can go fmu route like I did but it was nothing but problems. I ran a big fuel pump with the fmu but the problem was it would dump fuel at idle. So it kind of defeated the purpose. If you have a...
I finally have a video of it running. The idle is a little high. I don't have the alternator or my gauges hooked up yet. That's next on the list. The tps also has to be dialed in I forgot to mention that thing was replaced.
Well I got the car running nice and smooth. After hooking up the exhaust I had a really nasty lifter tick. I'll be swapping the better lifters I had lying around.
Took a couple pictures test fitting my bumper. The passenger side is all tweaked so the headlight sits funky. I'm kind of all over the place with this build. I start messing with the exhaust and end up fiddling around with the hatch or interior. I still have way to much to do, it's tough to...
