i know the cams topic has been beaten into the ground but i'm looking for feedback from people that have used a set of comp cams either the 204's or the 212's how is idle, powerband, drivability and general impressions of the cams. i'm rebuilding my head and looking into buying a set.

no one has any experience with them? wow well i am going to order a set of 204's on friday. when i get everything put back together i'll write a review

Honestly you won't be able to tell much performance gains if you're still just using a 14b, and using the comp cams that are similar to the 264's. I'd like someone to test the Comp "severe" cams, or at least let us know how well they work/don't work. I have a set, but my car won't run for another month and a half.

Is this a correct comparison

HKS 264 is similar to the Comp 204?
HKS 272 is similar to the Comp 212?

yuzhua, where are you getting your comp cams and how much are they? Thanks

either from summit or from fullthrottlespeed.com and they're 450 a set.

Theres an add in the new modifeid for comp cams and they are selling the 264 and 272 now i guess, wonder if they are the same as the HKS.

i have some severe comp cams that are awaiting to be put in when my motors done

To avoid any confusion, all camshafts, stock or aftermarket, need to be degreed. Even HKS. So before anyone says to jump on the HKS bandwagon, just remember that it is necessary. Also HKS 272 exhaust bumpsticks are on backorder. You guys with the Comp Cams should head over the the Tech Articles section as soon as possible, I would love to hear your impressions.

Requires a dyno, involves advancing/retarding either or both of the cam gears until ideal powerband is realized.

OH, ok . Ithought that it was machine shop related.

actually he is reffering to degreed as in...well i dont know how else to say it buy degreed, set the timing right because like on web cams if you ahve stock gears (not adjustable) and throw the webs on there, the lines wont be even that show that they are degreed correctly...i suck at explaining stuff

in other words...stock gears + aftermarket cams = the lines arent gonna match!

I got it .
Thanks boostin and greathuskie
But wouldnt stock cam gears with aftermarket cams, doesnt make too much sense

HKS's don't come ~15° off kilter like most US ground camshafts.

Someone had to bite.

Any camshaft will benefit ( produce more power ) after being degreed. Some cams need it done simply to work properly. There are some morons who would like to think just because HKS makes a great camshaft, it doesn't benefit from degreeing. But I can't listen to someone who would give the black materia to Rufus. Tsk tsk tsk.... ;)
