well I went to the track yesterday to try out my newly installed 14b and i wanted to hang myself. My car ran a 15.7 at 89 mph
R/t .732
60" 2.540
330. 6.795
1/8 10.231
mph 71.06
1000 13.224
1/4 15.731mph 87.83

My mods are 14b , cat back apexi 3" exhaust, injen intake, blitz bov, apexi avcr boost controller. Running about 12-14 psi

I dont know what happened didnt seem like it was a bad launch but i know i saw all stock gsts runnin 15.2 and 15.3's so i figured id be well into the 14's but i geuss not. Can anyone give me any tips on maybe what i did wrong by lookin at my crappy times?? but even if i was driving a lot better...i dont think i coulda made it into the low 14's..i saw a all stock AWD 95 talon run a 14.4 with a 140k on the clock. My clutch is still stock so im not sure how much that will help but i wasnt even chirpin the tires when i slammed into second...just very depressing...

Also for some reason i believe i have a boost leak i just have a bad feeling...anyhow i checked all my vac lines over and over and i cant seem to find anything is there any sure fire way to check for a leak?

Also i know my plugs are burnt pretty bad so i bought the ngk bpr7's and i hope those will help there not installed yet..sometimes i feel my turbo sputter a little bit in higher gears it did this on my t25 and my new 14b but it pulls hard just incosistantly think this can be due to fryed plugs? or a boost leak? any ideas would help im pretty pissed about my run

You could cut at least a half second off your 60' time alone. Your MPH is pretty low, I would expect somewhere in the low 90s at your mod level. You probably have a boost leak somewhere and that is hurting your times http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

well i geuss i got tuesdays product figured out LOL geuss ill check for boost leaks. So all i do is attach the 2.5" piece to the turbo inlet since i have the intake off than push air in through the valve stem and listen for leaks? sounds easy enough

make a leak tester man. even a little vac/boost leak can hurt performance ALOT more than u think. believe me. make a leak tester, find those leaks, fix those leaks and go back to the track run about 16-17 psi and mid to low 14's u should hit :thumb:

Yes he could use a little work on the launch but I think the bigger problem is the MPH...it's way low definitly a problem there.

yaeh turns out at higher rpms by 14b is losing boost...so i have a leak somewhere...but im just hopin its not a bad turbo :( that would suck.a

Like you mentioned a boost leak is definitely there. Before racing any car it must be in pefect condition. New plugs, wires, filters etc... . Also your clutch is tired and old. Drag racing will destroy it quickly. New polyurethane motor mounts, tower brace, lowered front suspension and any type of LSD ( Kaaz is the best ) will do wonders for traction. Tires are what puts the power to the ground, so do not skimp on the rubber. Also run a test pipe at the track for a few extra ponies and faster spool.

Also, no slamming it into any gear, unless you want to blow out your synchronizers, shift rails and anything else taking your abuse. Abuse the clutch, its much easier to replace than a tranny ( and cheaper ).

CanadianTsi: Plenty of FWD DSM's pull sub 2 second 60' runs, just do some research and searching. No I won't do it for you. :thumb:

Well obviously on slicks...look at the goodwill guy's there into the 1.6's, but definitly not on street tires like I said above...

How about you come to the track and watch me pull 2.0 60ft times on WINTER tires... Chicago GSX knows whats up... :thumb:

He should be in mid 13's with that setup. Work on that driving and I am sure you will get it. Driving is the key part to getting a good time at the track... Also like someone already said boost leaks are huge ... find them and put a clamp on them!

Winter tires are beautiful...there like poor mans slick's...the compound they use is very soft so they are good for traction...Heck I have thme on my FWD right now :thumb:

Well im goin boost leak huntin tonight...gonna drop the turbo and redo everything with new hoses as well..tighten bov and than go from there. Right now my avcr is set on 1.30 which is usaully 24 psi im only hitting 14...so either my turbo is takin a crap or i have a huge leak and now im workin my turbo in double time and beaten the crap out of it

I dont know about Kaaz being the "best" LSD, I did alot of reading and research before I got mine. It can go both ways I think it comes down to a matter of choice. I do have to say it is one of the best things I have got for my car yet.

1.6's yes, 1.9-2.0's no. And no one mentioned 1.6's, only sub 2.0's. Search search search.

Just because you have an LSD and Slicks doesn't mean you'll automatically be getting the Sub 2.0 or even sub 1.8 60's.

it takes time behind the wheel to get the hang of it. Most AWD guys only get 1.8's.
