Thinking about saving and getting the 2004 Evo instead of buying a GSX. What do you guys think about the evo? pros and cons?

what year was that division started? which year did the DSM line end? How much in R&D did they have to use in order to release this new lines?

Yeah all around the stui and evo are MUCH better, but as far as speed 12.6 bone stock is a little faster then both, for a little extra dough I can go to my works parts counter and 20 mins later be running more boost6 and 11s. But still if I had the money hadned to me I couldnt tell you what Id do.

ps a guy at my work had a 03 with cat back intake and pully(under 1k in mods) and he had his vert running loow 11s, his friend whos bay is right across from mine has a 03 coupe with cat back intake throttle bodie pulley and chip with decent tires hes hoping for 10s.

Early 2002 is when PVO (Performance Vehicle Operations) was officially a member of the Chrysler Group.

never seen a stroked 350z with a tt kit yet. stuff is too new. but it's fact that with 4.2L and 20 lbs of boost, you're gonna get tons of power.

srt-4's have roll down windows in the back? thats so ghetto.

Manual windows weigh less. Cost less. Unless of course you need to drive around in a parking lot and roll down your window to talk shit to other ricers. ;)

LOL! Since its the "rear" windows, it would have to be for the drivers riceboy friends with "no car at all" to hang out the window and talk shit.:laugh:
 
If you want a bad ass EVO wait till september and get the evo MR 298lbs torque 276HP(rates which is BS if you have that much torque) 12.9@107mph, 98g on the skidpad, 6 speed tranny, active center differential, for around 33K i would take that over any car out there right now.

no its still an evo, 4 door. it has a slightly bigger turbo (i forgot the size). forgedd bbs wheels, aluminum roof and better brakes. i know the aluminum roof has part to do with it beign lighter. but if i remember correctly, it still comes with ac, radio and creature comforts. imagine combining that with the rs package of no ac, no radio, no hid lights, no rear windshield wiper, you'll have a beast with awd, 300 hp, that weighs 3000lbs with a diff in it. oh my god that thing would be a rocket ship
 
No its a 4 door looks just like the evo 8 now but with black housing headlights and tailights and an all carbon fiber wing(same style just all carbon fiber) as well as black recaros switch for gravel tarmac and its 300 pounds lighter because it has an all aluminum roof. No stereo thoe but who cares when u got all this to play with.
 
30Gs can get a 91 or 92 NSX. Thats what I was talkin about.

If my car was ever fast :D you can say "WOW thats a fast POS DSM." ;) hahaha....

It seems we're entitled to our own opinion. But you have No validity and absolutely no good reasoning on why a srt-4 is pos. You said is has no performance and a bad engine which is all untrue.

I know better. The SRT4 may be ugly as sin but it does have a nice strong engine in it. If anyone doesnt believe that then check the SRT4 boards. One of those guys is pushing 500hp on the stock bottom.
 
Get the EVO 8 RS. Its all the performance without any of the luxury, just add on the features you want.

Okay everyone is talking about the "warranty"....Umm HELLO!!!! you are all talking about modding it and such. Mitsu has been SUPER anal about mods to these cars. If you do ANYTHING to it they are threatening to void the warranty. So personally, bang for the buck, I would get a GSX. However if you have 30k to spend on the car and don't care if you mod it and blow it up that you may have to pay for it, then more power to ya. Just doesn't seem right. For MUCH less than 30k I could have my GSX looking better and performing better. Just my $0.02 so please just take it for what its worth and not tell me what an idiot i am and crap...

I tell this to all my friends that ask about stuff like this....choose whatever YOU like the best and it will be the best, who cares what others think.

how moddable are WRX's? my friend is lookin to get one, not a STi, he's not that rich. For the money of a new WRX, is there a better alternative?
 
don't srt4's cost about the same? we know the srt4 motors are very modible. the subbie motors are tunable also. but does he want awd or fwd?

Don't get me wrong, some people say they beat the heck outa their EVO, and the clutch is going strong at 20,000+. But it's a big enough issue that "DID MITSU SCREW UP THE CLUTCH?" is a popular poll item over on the Evo forums.

actually alot of people fixed this by going to an ss clutch line. search clutch on the evo forums and youll probably see a stick for clutch fix.

I don't remember which mag. it was in, but they had a STI & a EVO go at it with same mod for mod. The EVO came up on top winning with flying colors. I like both cars...actually stock for stock I prefer the STI, but its not like I'd buy either for the price of 30k.

Too bad he blew it up last week. Put a rod through the side of the block.
