Okay guys I need some help. I have a 96 GS non turbo with 85,000 miles on it. I have an idea in my head to get a loan and buy the Star stage 2 turbo kit. The only thing I need to know is, will it be really stupid to turbo a 420A engine with 85K miles on it without doing any internal mods. Because If I take a loan I will not have very much money at all for anything to go wrong so I need the engine and turbo kit to last. Any Ideas or advice would be helpful.

If you can't afford to do something, then don't take a loan and go into debt. Especailly just to turbo a 420a. And no I don't think it's work turboing a 420a. And yes you will need more money cause things wil break. Even those people that do turbo a 420a; those turbo kits get you to about a stock gst power. But if that stock gst was to due minimal mods, you'd then blow you away.

yaeh i had a eclipse rs before and i thought about the turbo kit idea...i said #### it and bought a gst for 7k with 80,000 miles on it ...if u put a star kit on your rs or gs u might as well get the level 3 kit from hahns racecraft and upgrade all your internals while your at it so u dont break what you have and be worse off

Never go into debt for your car unless you have to.

Its too easy to take the loan and start buying things. Gets out of control fast. Just keep your eyes peeled for a cheap 1G. Even a cheap 5.slow will get you places down a race track for not alot of green.

Okay I am deff doing the Star Stage 2 turbo kit but first I guess im going to do the Howell bottom end rebuild kit for like 1200$ new pistons and rods then I should be safe to run more like 12 pounds of boost right? I heard that when you do your bottom end its like setting your odometer back to zero is this true, will my engine with the JE forged pistons and the eagle rods be able to handle much more power? And say if I am aming for 270ish wheel hp will my stock axles be okay?

I have a 91 gst and 91 eagle talon... It is N/A..I wanted to turbo the car just like you... thats how i ended up with te GST... decided to keep it in one piece after seening ow nice it was... and I ended up putting nitrous on the N/A... so I guess it is a N2O/A... If you have any doubt...just spray it... turbo kits can be a pain... with low-moderate gains...
