i just heard these things and im woundering if they are true.

1) if u have FWD u have better gas mileage comparing to AWD because u only need fuel to spin 2 wheels rather then having to spin all 4.

2) if u have FWD u wear out ure tires more because u have the weight of the motor and u are constantly turning with them.

3) if u have AWD the transmission sounds louder because not only have to run it to the front tires but also runs all the way to the back tires? (im not sure if this one makes sense)

thanks for ure help because im deciding between GS-T and GSX but i also live in New Jersey and snow does come so perhaps i should go with the GSX.

sorry, one more thing, is there any specific G2 year thats a "good" year or is there also a "bad" year i should stay away from? example like many trannys break in this year , etc...

and what is CrankWalk by the way

Lots of questions at once..

1) I have owned both a GS-T and GSX and I got better gas mileage on my GS-T

2) You may wear out your tires more if you race around alot since you will probably do a lot of little burnouts.

3) I have not noticed that it is any louder.

If you are planning on just using for daily driving and not alot of racing I recommend the GS-T. If you are planning on racing then I say go with a GSX.

Based off statistics for crankwalk I would say that you shoudl avoid 97. They have the highest rates if I remember correctly.

Crankwalk....there are a number of threads on it. All 2G's are prone to it, the are no firm figures as to which gets it more. Although a small test was done, and on the cars studied, AWDSOME is right the 97 had more. But the test was very small.

Get a gsx you wont regret it! Believe me. And when the snow comes you wont want it to go away!

If your gonna be driving it around in the winter, go for the gsx, I live in alaska and the AWD rules in the winter time. As far as gas mileage goes, the biggest factor there is how hard you drive your car =)

i'd say get a GSX or Talon AWD if you can find one in good shape for a good price. i tried to track one down for a while. looked at a bunch that had been beat on and generally misused. all the kids selling them wanted too much.

so i went with a GST.

if you plan on drag racing a lot definitely go with the GSX.

Go read that thread, and notice that FWD has a couple advantages, but AWD has a lot more, especially if you're modifying your car.

Think of how many serious sportcars you can buy that are FWD... none! The Integra Type-R is about the closest thing to a FWD sportscar. RWD and AWD hold all the cards when you're making serious power and taking corners fast.

This is not to say there's no reason to get a GS-T, but research your purchase carefully.

i read that thread and i agree with everyone's opinions. thye one thing people who laready have (and love) an AWD is that they're not the easy to find especially at a good price. the only one's i found were either at a dealer that wanted 20K for 99's with 40K mileage or owned by some shitbrick with diamong star vinyl stickers and "eclipse" on his window who beat on the car and still wants more than it's worth.
there's a growing mystique around AWD DSM's and that means people keep their prices up.

yes, if you plan on draggin your car, or autocrossing, or highly modifying your car you should always wait until you can find an AWD. but how long can you wait?

if you just want to modify the car to make it street fast, maybe put some cosmetic mods on and attract some chicks, and you plan on driving it daily. then maybe you should also include FWD in your search.

and if you get FWD you can pick up a really fat chick and still weigh less than a GSX.
haha.

personally, i am shooting for 12's. my TSi FWD will do jsut fine. and i still ahve all that room for paintball gear and wimmin
