I found a place called Flash Options that sells 4G63 Turbo engines which are compression/leak tested for 990 + 330 shipping. They appear to be cyclone engines, are they 6 bolt? I'd love to get one and build it up so there won't be much down time other than swapping out engines when it's ready. :thumb: :talon:

Yes, they whould be a 6-bolt, but personaly, I would rather get a fully re-built engine. You never know what your going to get when it comes to JDM engines. You may get a good one that has been taken care of, or you may get screwed with one thats been driven hard its whole life. Remember, in Japan they can only have new viechles on the road for 7 years, so this may lead to people not taking care of the car as it should be.

Uh... Cars can only be 7 years old in Japan? Where the hell did you get that information? If that was true, I don't think you'd see any of those Corolla's drifting around...

I posted a while back about my JDM motor. I don't feel like retyping it, so go searching, boy.

Alright, another question: what's the cheapest way to have a race-built engine (assuming I do most of the labor, minus machine work)? I was thinking buy the engine for cheap, replace the internals with aftermarket parts. Maybe it's better to start out with a staged bottom end?

From someone on this board, also go to http://www.roadraceengineering.com/4g63motorsearch.htm and read a bit, it doesn't say 7 years there though. I've read that information somewhere else too.

In that case, probably me. Everything else i have checked has been the same, year for year, so I made an assumption...well, ####.

Well ok LOL !! You may be right but does any one else know about this i heard it from now a couple of people i just bought jdm and am hoping when it gets here it has teh big lifters!!! No tick tick tick LOL:D

1G, 2G and 3G all use the same lifter. Later revisions have different passage sizes. The bores are all the same, and are interchangeable.

Your original engine came from Japan. The "JDM" is as much a sales term as reality. Some JDM motors have slightly different accessories on them, such as the Cyclone intake manifold and/or a different turbo than you'd see here.

That made no sense Definant????
All the same then why do you see so many people putting in 3rd g lifters?? Because the bore is bigger compare the two and you will see!
And from what i have been reading and learning and seen the JDM do have big bore lifters so i guess i answered my question and dont want to argue about something that is a stated fact so ya what ever!!

The hole in the end is bigger just as Defiant said. This is what gives them the revision #

The actual outer diameter of the lifters are all the same.

Sorry, I meant the hole in the head they run in, not the hole drilled into them. The "bore" of the socket in the head.

Where is a good place to buy a JDM engine.. i need it all.. Engine, Turbo, and FWD 5spd Transmission

I want a good reliable stron engine not some peice of crap.. ive been without my car for 8 months cuz my engine crapped and im a teenager with no money and im tired of it so plz help me!

1991 eclipse fwd 5spd

Dude you live in California, just go to a place that sells import motors. They should have some low mileage 4G63's. And I feel you about the teenage thing. I am only 16 and have money trouble too. It took me about a year before i got my DSM going but it was worth it. Just keep at it.:thumb:

ok quick ? gotta 94 talon awd and the motors roached. im thinkin about buying a jdm off ebay with 30k miles, im having the motor swap done at a local garage... ? is am i gonna need anything besides the motor, i know it comes with the turbo and blah blah, but im more worried about the wiring harnesses will they work with the one already in the car, and will my tranny be fine i got an auto. the mechanic said as long as its a mitsu 2.0 DOHC turbo hell make it work;) but i just wanna make sure i buy everything the first time.
thanks for any help.

i think if it has the cyclone intake manifold, the shop will have a tough time around that (i maybe wrong) but it would be best just to use your intakemanifold and t-body.
as far a the wiring harness goes, as long as you use all your sensors youll be fine......
good luck
