A kid that goes to my school has a big IMPORTED POWER sticker across his front winshield. It is a 95GSX, his car is a domestic, right?

Thanks
Dan

everyone will have their different opinions. The car was made in the US. But has imported parts. From a non-educated person's perspective it's an import.

The power was imported, sure. The rest of the car wasn't.

No, I think the people who made the 7 bolt were on crack......

Is it mitsubishi? Yes. Is mitsubishi Japanese? Yes. If the car is mitsubishi it is also Janpanese. Therefore, import. Where do you people keep getting this wrong? It is import. PARTS are from JAPAN, which means they are imported.

We could also debate where a Taures SHO is an import. It's engine is Japanese made.....But it is a Domestic, why? Becasue it has a domestic make.

A car is considered domestic or import by its make. People cant grasp that cars can be assembled in another country. So I just say its an import.

are the 7bolts built in korea i remember reading sumthin about that like hyndai or sumthin in korea or em i wrong.

The car, its components, were designed in Japan. (Styling, at least on 2G's was done by Mitsubishi's California design studio, yes the same one that designed the 3G eclipse even...)

The parts may have been manufactured here in the states, but I'd still consider it Japanese in heritedge more than anything.

Are F-Bodies imports because they were made in Canada? Same logic applies.

Perhaps this portion of my price sheet will be of assistance in answering this simple question. The car is American, the engine and transmission is Japanese. 70% vs 30%.

It's domestic.

No Jaap would ever hide the tape deck behind the shifter, nor the controls for the fogs, mirrors, dash dimmer and cruise behind the steering wheel.

Very nice. You have it. But what people dont get, and waht I was trying t get at, is that if the name is Japanese then "it must be an import" and I''ve talked to so many ford guys who will die for their belife that teh Taures SHO is all American, which in fact Yamaha made the engine.

My point is that no matter what you say, if the name is Japanese or American, it is where the name comes from. I have argued this idea so many times with domestic guys who say even though the car is 70% assembled here in the US it is still ALL Japanese. Dumb or blind, I dont know.

You cant really say that Mitsubishi would automatically make it an import, what about the lasers and talons? Eagle doesnt sound imported to me :thumb:

I call my baby a domestic mostly cause its called an import so much. I like making people annoyed from being cynical :D

Hell I race my car at the domestic race events and race in the Mopar class and the V8 guys get pissed at first. Eventually when they realize my car is fast enough to be in the class and I'm not walking around with the holier then thou attitude most honda kids have there isn't much problem after that.

It's funny to watch them though when you come back from a pass. Some guys are giving you thumbs up and shit cause they didn't know an "import" could go that fast LOL.. I'm like, "HEY! IT'S DOMESTIC. MOPAR POWER BABY!"

I shit you not, I was sitting in the lane before my first pass and a guy with a 70 Chevelle comes up and asks if my car runs 16's with 3 of his buddies as they laugh. I ask him what car he's driving he points over to his chevelle with 13.8 writtin on the car and says it's the one thats 3 seconds faster then your car. I'm like oh yeah, thats cool. I ran 12.5 here yesterday and I'm hoping for a 12.4 or 12.3 (couldn't get it but oh well) and they kinda stop laughin and look at me funny. I was way ahead in the line and that pass I pull a 12.6 I believe and they are all watching of course. Then after my pass they pull back around and don't walk upto me then. Hmm. Wonder why? Generally most guys there are pretty cool tho.

I agree. Even though my car has Mitsubishi written on, it's THE SAME EXACT car as the lasers and talons(mechanically of course). It's wierd how some would consider the PLYMOUTH(American brand) Laser and EAGLE(American brand) Talon domesticated vehicles even though they are the same exact thing as the Mitsubishi Eclipse. OMG

good story Jim, i also joke with V8 guys telling them my Talon is Mopar:thumb:

Yea, made in my home town of Normal, Ily. :thumb:

BTW there domestic, but some argue because look at ford and chevy, they get half there parts from canada..so are they imports:confused:

also one of the new Chevy's is goin to have a honda eninge in it:shhh:

It really doesn't matter if you people "consider" in an import. It won't change what it really is. It is a domestic, built in america. Ford probes are powered by mazda, does that make them imports?

Not to many, if any where built in japan correct? Would that mean america imported them to japan?

Sorry to come off a little assholeish, just making a point. :p
