I am wanting to get either two 10 inch JL W3's or two 10 inch Alpine R series subs. I just can't decide on what I want. I have always liked Alpine but I have one JL W1 10inch and I think it is a great sub for how cheap it was. I am making my own custom box. What do yall recomend?

both good subs...you could always get an alpine amp if you went with the type r's tho and have a complete alpine system....if you're into that kinda thing. i think they're both along the same lines, but personally i'd go with the alpine just so i could setup the rest of the car with alpine equipment being i'm into car shows and such...

I'm not gettin an alpine amp tho. I can get a Profile amp for hardly nothing. I also thought about getting one R series 12 inch cause I can get a 410 watt mono profile amp for just $100 or a 150x2 for the same price. And I already have a huge Q-logic box for a 10 that can be easily cut out for a 12. So that just makes me even more confussed about what to do:-/

i'd think twice before getting that profile amp..they're low-low-end car audio. if you were to actually test that "so-called" 410 watt amp you'd prolly see it actually only does about 100w rms. bottom line in car audio, more than usual...you get what you pay for. don't even bother getting a sub like the type r if you're just gonna run it with a piece of crap like that. it will never do it justice.

I have decided to go with a Alpine 12" R series sub with a Profile 400 watt amp. That amp powered that 12 nicely and it comes with a one year warrenty and its only 120 bucks. I think it will sound good in my little DSM. I will probably get another 12 and a much bigger Alpine amp later on, but that will be after I get some new rims. Do yall think I should get a capacitor?

I don't have an extra 100 bucks to spend on the system. I meant should I get a cap when I get the other 12 and the better amp later on.

caps are mainly used for short burst of power...it'd work better on an amp for components. if you plan on using a cap on an amp that's gonna be pushing subs for pure spl (meaning if you listen to mainly rap & hip hop) a cap will almost be worthless. i'd invest in a good mono (d-class) amp and you won't even need a cap with it's low current draw.

I found a Alpine V power 300w amp. Would that go well with just one R series 12? I'm gettin short on $ to spend on my system. I have other shyt to pay for. Like getting my front bumper and hood fixed. Then paint, then maybe rims (if I can find a really good deal on some). Oh yea, this one guy I know he said that Audiobahn was 10 times better than JL, and I told him that hes about dumb but I have never heard anything about Audiobahn. What are yalls opion on Audiobahn?

imo, you can't beat audiobahn subs for the money, which is why i have the aw1500x. you throw a $hitload of power at them and drop them in a decent size, ported box and they'll scream. ofcourse there's better out there, but you'll prolly end up spending close to twice as much. just to let you know, i have one audiobahn 15 in a ported box with a little over 600w rms in a convertible (little to no cabin pressure) and hit close to 145dBs.. so i'm satisfied with audiobahn, for now. just about any system can sound decent depending on the install.

i got 2 JL Audio's 10w3's with that new JL audio 250/1 series amp.. and holy .. it POUNDS! and thats just half of what the two 10w3's can handle.. should have gone JL =] they got the best warranty too.. and im not sure if the r series alpine can be wired at 2ohms.. :: drools ::

I have a type r 12" with a JL 250/1 wired at 2ohm. It made my mirror fall off.

im about to say screw the system for now. ill stick with my 1 JL 10 for now cause im about to get a diff car, but then im goin to start lookin again...

Yeah I'm beginning to think my 3 12W6 was a bit overkill. But everytime I pop my hatch to show the system, I'm like....NAH! :D
