We installed a Victory Performance stainless steel O2 sensor housing on our 91 Eclipse 2 weeks ago and documented the install. Let us just say that if you're planning on swapping out your turbo, it would be easier to change your O2 sensor housing at the same time.... as some of the bolts are pretty hard to reach. We're very happy with the results, it looks very clean and helped tremendously with the boost creep problem we were having. Hope you like the article:

I would also like to add that the lower heat shield is a _____! Why didn't you opt for the o2 housing with atmosphere dump tube?

I live in CA, which has pretty strict emission laws. The cops around here are pretty sharp and would likely notice the atmosphere dump tube, and I'd like to keep the car as smog-legal as possible. VP suggested to go with the standard unit in order to do this.

Yeah I live in CA as well... I know what you are talking about but there are ways to hide these things :)

What size diameter is the new housing? I see they look bigger but how big are they? it cant be that hard to make a housing if you have the equipment right? I have a friend who only works with those things at a well known company( they make those big things used in wars..tanks..so they can do prettty much anything in their place...) and he can easily make a housing or free if he knows how it should look...

If you take the stockone too look at and make anew one but bigger and more freeflowing....should that work?Doing the piece it self is no problem as I said........

I was wander what an O2 sensor socket is, becuase I plan on doing a full exhuast and o2 senosr change with in the next couple months and it would dissapointing to not be able to take off the o2 senosr when i get all the parts.

i would like to add, that my lower shield came off like butter. all i did was hit the bolts with WD40, and 20 minutes later BODA BING loose bolts WD40 also works good on manifold bolts to.;)

Absolutely. PB Blaster is my best friend. that stuff rocks!!!

jfk92gst: O2 sensor bolt I just did. I think it is a 21mm. I used a 7/8.

Oh yea, it wasn't turning the bolts, but getting to them for some reason. There was one directly across from the alternator that proved to be hard, the rest were easy!

Took me a matter of 5 minutes to get my heat sheild and 02 housing off. And about 20 minutes for the turbo damn coolant lines.
Just got my 2 7/8 inch exhaust installed, and I am currently porting the turbo and installing a custom 02 eliminator /w wastegate dump.

I thought the bolts were suppost to break when trying to remove them

Yeah thats pretty f'n sweet man! You should have taken out the fan to work down there, however. It gives a crapload more room and it takes like 30 seconds. God bless VFAQ!

Do you need new gaskets when replacing the o2 housing?

can anyone tell me that if I take a car with an O2 housing with a dump tube......will I pass emisions in IL?

I can only tell you CA but here we will not pass visual. If we just go on the sniffer then we will.

Don't know if this helps any but removing the radiator fan gives slightly more room in order to remove the PITA lower heatshield. I live in CA also and the cops here are all all Smog Nazis. No Smog Certificate for you!

I was wondering also about fuel cut. I can't get a straight answer if I am getting it....I believe so.....or a bad injector or something else. This is what is done to it.... EVOIII Turbo....stock o2 housing w only a 32 mm flapper I beleive....2.5" downpipe.....2.5" cat back....ran with test pipe and high flow cat....(The cat seemed to make a difference for the better)....new o2 sensor in o2 housing.....Supra intercooler....and walbro 255 pump....1G BOV....and a remanufatured ECU......now.....I have 130,000 on the stock motor...it is an automatic......running premium since day one. I just put in the EVO III. I had a very slight back fire running about 16 lbs on the stock T-25 at redline going into 2nd......I then got a deal on the EVOIII and put it in.....Doing it on the cheap I haven't had anything ported yet.....It felt like a backfire and the car dies and then I can slam on it again. it was creeping to about 19 lbs with the stock soliniod. it's about 30 degress out as well.......My buddy went for a ride and said it didn't feel like fuel cut.....he said his car was much worse but he was running a big 16G at 20 lbs on the stock pump and injectors with 100 octane.....What would your suggestion's be at curing the problem going the cheapest first......and does any one have a CHEAP Cat back Exhaust for a GST? perferably 3" but will deal with 2.5"
