I ahve been tryign to spray the inertior of my car and i have been having some troubles. the peopel at the auto parts store said that there wasnt a primer or a sealer needed for the type of paint i bought. i am have problems wehre certain areas of the trim the paint wont stick to and just beads adn runs. this is getting very frustrating and i dont knwo how i can fix it. any advice

Have you tried sanding those areas with a fine grit sandpapaer?

Sand the area until it is smooth and clean it with alcohol to make sure there is now oily residue from Armor All or stuff like it.

just buy any general (cheap) primer. it'll do wonders. i'd get a can of clear coat spray paint as well...just to make it a little more durable. painted interior parts seem to scratch and chip very easily...which in turn just looks like $hit. so my advice it to take your time and do it right.

I spray painted my interior, U can see the pics in my galery/photo album. some advice, dont rush it. even though it seems dry u may want to wait a day before putting the stuff back in. I put 4 coats over a 2 day period. the paint is probably water based b/c there's no chipping or bubbles on mine.

try holding the can farther away frm the area ihad the same problem. just mist it and like FourG63 97GST said take your time It should take at least two to three days to finish.

ok i want to paint my interior. its not going to be ricey. just black and gray to match the car. i might not do it at all but what are the steps to doing it yourself? i cant see paying someone to do what i could do probably better. pros mess up too and im a kid so im short on cash.

actually its rather easy to paint ure interior and u could buy the interior paint at autozone or advanced auto for about five dollars a can ull need about 4 cans for the whole interior. Its the spray paint can with the seat on it.All u have to do is take interior pieces apart mask with tape what u dont want painted clean the surface real good and aply light coats of pain till it fully covered.Ihave my interior nobs ac grill ects done in white my friend has his whole interior done it looks real good and doesnt wear if u do it right.:dsm:

no, well atleast i didnt neither did my friend but i could imagine it would add durability.:dsm:

I would suggest primering the part before you paint it. Other wise you will get fisheyes. I have quite a bit painted in my interior. Prob to ricey for you though.

i looked at your interior pics and the ones you have in your gallery look good. thats basically what i am going to do.

i just use any time of spray paint like kylon from walmart with a couple layers of primer below it... my main question is what clear coat to use, the kinds i have tried don't work

First of all, dont buy k-mart trash, you get what you pay for. Get Dupli-color. Here's what works for me:
1. Nice layer of primer (Dry for 10-15 mins)
2. 3 Coats of the Paint (20 mins between coats)
3. 1-3 Layers of clearcoat depending on preference:
more=fiberglass look, less=textured stock look
(Let Top Coat dry for at least 1 hour before installing, unless you
like scratched paint)
Enjoy!

i went to that site...you have that type of color changing effect in the interior?!?!?

anyways, saw your profile picture captconnels priceless :thumb:

so with that clear coat it stays clean, or is easy to clean i guess?

is dupicolor avaliable at a lot of places. where is the best place to get it?

thanks

theres nothing wrong with krylon...if you know how to use it right. heres mine, i used krylon semi-flat black with no clear. it looks like the stock black. its still in great condition after 11 months
