Hi! Im currently planning on upgrading my stock audio set-up,
which actually sounds ok and no I dont't have the stock Inifnity's.

I am planning to install:

1 Head-Unit (Alpine/Panasonic/Sony/Fosgate/Pioneer)
2 Polk 5-1/4 Component systems (Low-End DX Models)
2 Rockford Fosgate Punch 100.2 amplifiers (Low-End Models)
1 Rockford Fosgate Punch 200.2 amplifier (Primarily for the Subwoofers)
2 Rockford Fosgate Punch Z 12 inch subwoofers (150watts RMS)
1 MTX Crossover
Custom Wiring
Capacitor Tube

I know these are not high-end products, but their better than my
4 5-1/4 stock paper speakers. The Rockford Fosgate amplifiers can still be used when I upgrade in the far far future to Infinity Perfects.

Opinions.....................?

go with an alpine, pioneer, or kenwood HU...they blow away any of those others you listed. i'ld look into some different subs, i'm sure you can get better ones for about the same price, maybe a little more...but those bottom-end rf's are disappointing. a seperate crossover really isn't necessary for what you're doing, especially if you get a decent HU (because it should have a pretty good one built-in). and the cap, from what i hear, is just a waste...unless you're putting it on just your components. if you really wanna upgrade electrical/current systems then get a bigger alternator and thicker wiring. but you're not pushing anywhere's close enough power to even need it. i have a 600+ watt amp and a 150 watt amp in my spyder and have no problems even at high volume. also, where do you plan on getting this stuff and how much you plan on spending? i know some good online places which might save you alot of money and allow you to get a better bang for your buck.......

hmmm, might wanna think twice, if you'd consider installing the stuff yourself...then i'd get the stuff off the net, you'll save a bundle.

i'd get the HU from crutchfield only because it will come with the wiring harness, mounting hardware, detailded instructions, etc. to install in your car. everything else tho can be found for close to half price at what you would pay for it locally tho, if you look hard. you can find an amp kit (power wire, ground wire, remote turn-on, rca's, speaker wire) on ebay for anywhere from $15-$35. i can help you pick out some pretty good stuff, or it will atleast blow away what you planned on, for about the same price....if not less. you just have to be willing to spend a couple hours hooking it all up and i can honestly tell you it's not all that hard. let me know tho. pm me with what you're looking for in a system and i'll try to help you out.

Thanks!
I thought about what you said and I have never trusted buying products over the internet or by mail.I was surprised that you said that I can purchase my gear at almost 1/2 off! If what you say is true, I suppose it is time to change my ways. Please give me the names of the websites.

Hi!
I wanted to tell you that the only reason I chose that gear was that most of it was on special or on clearance.
My real desires are:

Sony HU (the unit that has an awesome screen, laptop quality)
Infinity Perfect 6 1/2 Components (sound almost as good as Boston)
Rockford Fosgate Power 4-way amp(high-end, not clear on exact specs)
Rockford Fosgate Power 1000.2 (OMG! spl and db all in one)
Rockford Fosgate Power HX2 12inch Subwoofers (real monsters!)

I don't want much now do I?

looks like you've done some best buy shopping. those infinitys are decent components. defiently would NOT recommend the sony HU, there are far superior in sound processing. a good reminder is to not base your decisions on looks alone. the RF subs are decent, and the amps are ok. fact is tho, RF use to be alot better. they don't seem to be putting the quality they once did into their new products.

the key to successful internet shopping is dependable sources. first off, www.sounddomain.com has an excellent selection and an even better shopping policy...if you find a product they carry for cheaper on the net, they will match and beat the price by 5%. plus, with sounddomain you will get the manufacturers full warranty which is something you have to be careful with when dealing with internet shopping being that all retailers are not licensed dealers. they are a VERY dependable source and one of the biggest on the net. there's ALOT of good sites tho. some of my favorites are www.thezeb.com and www.besttoys.org

I have had really great experiences with the older RF, but I have no idea on how the new ones perform, I just thought they would get better with time.I visited SoundDomain, pretty awesome prices on their rebuild RF.

When looking at online stores...make sure you buy from an authorized dealer....maybe the warranty is important to you...maybe not.

Some on-line places are noted for selling re-furbished product, last year models, and other similar items. Some are ligit....some are not.
MOST manufacturers will not honor a warranty claim if not bought from a traditional store.

Also, make sure the on-line store has ample tech-support. Since that is who you may end up buying from...make sure they can help with yout technical questions. If you dont buy from a local store, why should they help you install it, or design the proper enclosure, or trouble shoot any installation problems? (Just my thoughts)

John

I notice a difference with my Cap installed. It punches harder when the beat picks up. As for the warranty stuff, If you have a recipt, the manufacturer MUST honor the warranty. The "Authorized Reseller" clause is not a legal bind. Make sure the eBayer send's you one, and include the serial number on it. ( http://www.usacaraudio.com has a huge rant about these non-warranty jerks and online sellers, and they have really good prices.) Looks like a good setup, but you may want to re-consider the subs/sub-amp. Get a couple of 4 Ohm subs and a 2 Ohm stable monoblock amp and you will get a much harder punch for the same cost. $0.02

IMO i would look at a set of refrences instead of the perfects, i know that the perfects are better but i think that you would be better suited to spend the money that you save on the speakers on a good HU. i know that the perfect subs rock (i own one) but i have heard that the kappa speakers sound almost as good as the perfects. however if you are really budgeting i wouldn't recoment anything higher than the refrences, they are an awesome speaker for $100 a pair(coax).
just my $.02 worth, i have had expirience with alpine, pioneer,JL,Infinity, and some other brands so if you need some info i might be able to help you or at least send you in the right direction.
