It's based on the actual person. Do a google search for Ed Gein, the first site that pops up should tell you all about his life, I read it, it was actually quite interesting. Looks can be decieving also, if you look at his pictures you never would have guessed he could do such horrible things.

Go rent the movie "Ed Gein"

One of my friends went to the movie last nite and she said she couldn't sleep after it.. But I still want to go even tho I'm prolly the most jumpy person you'll ever meet when it comes to scarey movies... (unless they are just stupid, but trying to be scarey) btw, has anyone seen Identity? There's a good one. :)

waste of time and money. I was it over the weekend. I didn't find it any bit entertaining nor did I find it scary. I actually started to fall asleep, if it wasn't for my girl I would have dosed off into la la land. LOL
I guess you have to be a Horror movie guy to enjoy movies like this.

Identity is a VERY good movie...halfway through the movie you'll be saying 'damn didnt see that coming...'

the story is true....not everything in the movie is true....it was in plainfield, wisconsin. thats where everything happened...he stole womens bodies from a gravyard and shaved there skin and wore em.... it wasnt in texas....but the guy wearing the skin faces is true...ed gein also made a armchair out of there skin, he was born in 1904 and died of cancer... he killed many people too

how many more times?

You're an idiot, if you are going to keep repeating things at least get it right. He didn't kill many people, I think the death toll was like 2.

He was only blamed for 2. He had upwards of 40+ people's body parts in his house. But nobody was claimed missing so they couldnt get him for it other than those 2 since they were declared mising.

Sick bastard if you ask me....

well i think killing 1 person is 1 too many isnt it? LOL
anyways he was definetly a very deranged individual, but what do you expect when your mother brainwashes you like his mom did to him?

The only brainwashing his mother did was tell him girls were evil. She died and he was left alone, that's what made him to what he did.

from what i read, his mother didnt allow him to do anything with girls and that, and his brother/mothers death led to his disorder

It's all cabin fever, you can only be left alone for a certain time before you lose your mind.

They are not sure if he killed his brother or not, apparently he got trapped in a fire, but they have doubts that he might have been shot by Ed then burned to death. He thought his mother liked his brother more, his parents treated him like an outcast. But they say he was deeply in love with his mother.

i thought the movie was retarted, you could tell jessica biel wasnt gonna die cause she was the hottest and the only famous one. as soon as you see the sheriff u know hes involved. theres so many just stupid things in that movie it just made me want to get up and leave. the only good thing about it is seeing jessica in a wet white shirt , but for 8$ u could buy a cheap porn so weigh that option

you haters have no imagination, either that or you've just smoked yourself retarded :shhh:

i saw it, thought it rocked, i had never seen the original. the movie wasn't so much gory (blood and guts) as it was greusem (sp?) all those body parts, and that set of just teeth that had braces on them. pretty messed up if you ask me.

The original was good, for it's time. The new one had a more on point view of everything and a better plot. The old one was over in about an hour and 4 of them died in a 15 minute frame.

All in all i'd say the new one was a pretty kick ass movie!

1957. Plainfield, Wisconsin. The kind folks here think ED GEIN is just a shy, eccentric farmer. But Ed knows differently. Haunted by visions of his late mother Augusta – a devout woman whom he considers a saint – Ed has already become a prolific graverobber and amateur anatomist. Now, with the ghost of his mother compelling him, Ed can no longer resist the allure of Plainfield’s women, and his fierce desire to experience a real, live kill…or two.

The film Ed Gein is based closely on the life of the famed Wisconsin serial killer.

Plainfield, Wisconsin was fifty miles away from where Robert Bloch lived. Bloch went on to write the novel Psycho, which he publicly stated was inspired by and loosely based on the story of Ed Gein.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was taken far more accurately from the life of Ed Gein, although director Tobe Hooper invented a whole family to be responsible for the heinous crimes that, in reality, were the work of just one man.

Thomas Harris, author of The Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal, based Buffalo Bill, the serial killer Clarice Starling is trying to catch in the first book, on Ed Gein.

And American Psycho - both the book and film versions - makes several pointed references to Ed Gein. He has also inspired numerous rock bands and even sculptors who have based their work on Gein. He has several websites and even his own fan club, whose members meet regularly to swap cherished memorabilia, trade stories, and perpetuate the legend of Ed Gein.

Wait Wait Wait!!!! Wtf these people celebrate ed gein WTF is wrong with them, he has a fan club. umm why does a guy who slaughtered people and wore there skin get a FAN CLUB! WTF thats messed up, o and good movie and go rent gein from a rental place freaky shit you wont sleep for awhile.

It was then that he sealed off the upstairs, the parlour, and his mother’s bedroom by boarding it off and set up his own quarters in the remaining bedroom, kitchen and shed of the big farmhouse._ He stopped working the farm because a government soil-conservation program offered him a subsidy, which he augmented by his work as a handyman in the area.

Reminds me of Red Dragon just a bit.
