I have a head unit in my 1G talon, and want to add an lcd screen. I was wondering first if it is possible to fit my existing HU and the pop-out screen in the double-din. Also, how would I hook up both the screen and HU to my speakers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Could I splice the speaker wires into both the HU and screen?

well, either way...if you get a in-dash monitor or a fixed stand-mounted monitor...you're gonna have to have something that plays videos/dvd's. so a video cable is gonna connect the monitor to the video source then from the source (ie, vhs, ps2, dvd player, etc) you will hook up your audio connections to your HU. unless your HU has an audio "input", you'll need an RF modulator which will allow you to turn your antenna input on the HU into a audio input. you'll just select "tuner" on your HU to get sound through your speakers from your vhs or dvd player. also, unless you have a video source made specifically for mobile audio, you'll need a power converter to give your player the correct amount of power and not fry it within a week.

You have a couple of choices. First, do you use RCA's for amp signals? If you're using Head Unit Power from both units to power speakers, You can simply splice them together, making sure you use a diode on each of the output lines from both head units to keep power flowing one direction.

Power flows --------->

[HeadUnit]_{Diode-->}___
....................................\__________[Speaker]
[LCD]_____{Diode-->}___/

[HeadUnit]_____________
....................................[Switching]________[Speaker]
[LCD]_________________ [SPDT Relay ]

DO NOT run both at the same time. Speakers don't like conflicting signals...Another idea, is to use relay switches. Some SPDT relays would work great, toggle a switch to transfer between units. I do some work with diodes and relays in my spare time, and I'd be happy to build a simple control box for you, I just need to know how many sources (and what type) you use and how many outputs (and what type) you need. E-Mail me if you're interested. I can make it automated or switchable.

Thanks for all the help...DTerm I might just take you up on that, just let me see if I can get the screen first. If I can I will drop you a line, thanks!
