Okay, I'm getting a new car next year for when I go to a 4 year university. I discussed it with my mom and she said that she liked the idea of me getting either a WRX or a 350Z. Both new, no used cars. I don't want another used car. If you were in my position what would you get? A wrx or a 350Z. Or any other suggestions? I want to keep my options open. I could be getting it as soon as december of next year. So... that gives me about another year with the eclipse. I just want a reliable daily driver with some oomph and possibly some mods later on, I don't know. Thanks for your help.

def get the evo if you can cuz its amazing imo. but outta the wrx and the z, i say go with the z. awesome power and pimp potential. outta the box its pretty quick and it looks good as hell. plus trust(greddy) just released or is releasing a twin turbocharger kit that at only 5.6 psi is hittin somewhere in the 350hp range while stillen has a supercharger kit that hits a little less. the z is gettin some awesome aftermarket support right now so i saw go for that. if you need room tho, go with the wrx cuz it is a sport sedan and the z only seats 2 people:dsm:

man i wish i had options like that when i got outta high school. anyways, i'd say go with the impreza wrx. they look so damn nice and with a good exhaust they growl. i really wish i could get one, they're such beautiful cars.

The dealer around here told me that if I were to get an EVO they could get it for me for 27k out the door. To me, that sounded like an amazingly good deal. However, the nissan dealership also told me that there would be a turbocharged 350z released soon. Can anyone confirm this claim? The evo would be a nice choice but its styling isn't that appealing to me. I am definitely considering it though. Anyone else have any opinions? What about the Infinity G35 coupe? How much do those usually run for?

Go with the WRX man!! you wouldn't regret it. Get an STi even, it's rated at 270 from the factory, but it's closer to 300.

From your first choices... I would go with the 350Z.... sweetest new car I have seen.... very good power too.. The Infinity G35 is almost as kool as the 350.... but its just not sporty enough.... G 35 has 280 hp I think... and cost around 30k... not to mention in 2004 they will have AWD ...... EVO's look like they are worth 20k new.... but are much more..... They might have good power, handling... etc.. but it looks like a toy...

I just can't see bothering with a new car to worry about while you're parking around a school. And that doesn't change much whether it's a grade-school or a university. When you take buddies out on the town, half of them are throwing up, and the rest are smoking and burning holes in the seats and headliners. Then there's the "borrowers" who don't have a car.

Eh, that's just me.

Being poisoned early-on, I'd tend toward the Dats.... er, Nissan. However, now affected seriously by AWD, I'd want the WRX... but damn, those Subarus do some odd stuff under that puppy-dog cute sheetmetal.

Or get a '68 Olds, let anyone drive, ride, puke, smoke or fu(k in it, park it anyplace you please (such as, within door-dinging range of some spoiled punk's new 350Z), spend the left-over cash on LIFE, and burn it on the last day of school. And _then_ go out and buy whatever's the coolest thing they're selling five years from now.

Just wait until next November to find out what the next fad is so you can have the dopest ride in college.

I think 350Z's are EXTREMELY hideous I would go with an EVO or WRX.But arent all these cars in the $30K range..Shit if I had $30K I'd buy a 2003 Mustang Cobra:shhh:

It all depends on where you are going to school.... You will not move in the 350z in the snow( I work at a nissan dealership) If you are planning on staying somewhere where there is no snow then yes the 350z, but if you are going where there is snow, then the wrx... I live in NH, and others from this area can back me up on this, snow svcks for rwd cars...;)

Maybe you should just get a new M3 to prove the point even further that Mommy and Daddy love you at school.

I agree with timmy on the subject... but really that is such a difficult call to make. The WRX is AWD which is a nice thing for bad weather and aren't bad performers from the factory. The 350Z being RWD wouldn't do so well but performancewise, a twin turbocharger kit sounds really nice. Well, you did say a daily driver for the time being, so I'd go with the WRX, just because of the weather factor, ice, snow, and even rain can cause big problems on any road.

I agree with everyone else that if you're planning on driving in the snow, get the WRX. Maybe even an STi or lancer evo if you want more power, the evo at least is in the same price range as the 350z. If you aren't gonna be in snow, get the 350... But I admit I prefer the G35 as well, it costs a bit more but it's performance has been tested to be the same as the 350z, it looks more refined (more like a true skyline imo), and even has back seats which are definately handy... I miss back seats.

i don't see how you can compare a car with a 3.5L v6 to a car with a twin turbo inline six @ 2.5L (RB25DETT)

it's not the same car, and isn't supposed to be. IMO, the 350z looks like total putrid ass, and i'm not a fan of the v6 sportscar.

Get an evo, if you can't, get a wrx. A wrx is still quicker stock/stock than an AWD 1g... which isn't so bad.

i'm also imagining repairs on the subie to be less costly than the nissan.

Werd. The 350Z looks like a space ship with wheels. Its fugly as all hell
:D

STi WRX, Nissan 350Z, either are good calls, and both have good potential, but beeing this a DSM site, I also suggest the Evo... good power potential..., and its nice looking isn't it?
