Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

IMHO the 50 trim, FP green etc would be the best route to go if you want to make alot of power on pump gas. That is what I plan on doing. I hate the fact that I have to run race gas to get the most out of my FP Big28.

yes the t-28 will spool faster, but if you can't wait of a 16G to spool then your impatient! plus i would rather crank mitsubishi's flagship 16g turbo over the t-28 who has been parsed together.

yeah, the fp t28 had me fooled. i though i was going to get more top end, but instead its not as i though it would be. Now i came across a bushur stage 3 racing head with hks cams for 1100, and also bought the ete32 50-trim turbo from extremeturbo.com. they were awsome.
some people complain about the hybrids having a 270 degree thrust bearing, but they have the full 360 degree ones, also with a cast exhaust housing to a 7cm gasket no need for porting. did i mention they come with a 39mm internal flapper? All this ran me 2200 and now i can make around 450hp. Afcoarse i am limited by the stock bottom end :( so thats when my fun stops. The turbo costs around 850, plus u have to get the install kit with the big intake pipe. I think its worth it!

first off damn that alot of goodies. Second i with those mods i would say a 50 Trim, 54 Trim, or a FP green if you want to keep the car streetable like you said. As for mangament either a GM 3.5" w/ translator OR a full stand alone DSMlink or AEM

I know if u look at my MOD list u'll say "You even have your exhaust yet."(one day my RnR turboback will get here :( ) but I'm doing some advance planning. I've got a 98 GSX and want to run low to high 11's. Now I don't like saying money isnt an issue but which is the BEST turbo. I did search this so settle down moderators... Please make sure to vote and give your reason.

A standard T28 will probably not crack the 11s. Forced Performance and AGP both make "big" T28s that might be able to get you into the 11s. Forced performance claims, "At 21psi, the FP-Big28 pulled our full weight 99 GSX to an [email protected]." They don't mention supporting mods on this car. I assume a lot. If you have any interest in autocrossing, then this is the turbo for you. I have this turbo on my car, and I LOVE it. I don't care about the lack of topend compared to the 16G; it's worth it.

The Big16G is also going to require lots of supporting mods to crack into the 11s. It's going to take a lot of work too. There is also the Sleeper 16G from Forced Performance. They claim someone hit mid 11s on a Galant with that turbo (Again, supporting mods were not mentioned).

I voted for the 20G. You aren't going to have to max out the turbo quite as much as with the T28 or 16G. It's a solid tried and true turbo, that should definitely get you into the 11s. I would be willing to bet you could hit the 10s with some weight reduction and serious supporting mods.

The 18G might afford you a little more streetability with it's quicker spoolup than the 20G, while still allowing you to break into the 11s.

The choice is yours. Pick whatever fits your needs best.

i had the FPbigt28 and it was really really hard and exessively expensiver for supporting mods to get it into the 11;s and it was done on race gas, with the haltech system.

I went with the t3t4 setup cause it was the easiest for me, Get yourself a nice ic, some injectors and a turbo and an safc and you got yourself easy 12s on pump gas (low 12's) and easy 11's on race

I think the reason that you're not seeing many posts about the Slowboy turbos is beacuse they seem less common than most of the other turbos that you listed. I'm not saying they are bad in any way; I am just saying that most people don't have any experience with them.

Ok....I read that link. My profile is updated, I know the supporting mods I need, and I was asking about specific "turbos". Now I dont know what the problem is with asking people to choose a turbo and explain why and what the benefits are of that "specific" turbo. So if someone could explain what harm it causes by me asking please do so. "JACKASS!" I find it funny when the moderators are so quick to jump on someone for asking a simple question that will help the entire community. Maybe it's just me or could it be the fact that company's advertising on this site dont like seeing people saying stuff like "T-28's suck just get a...". Oh well I'm done ranting but once again MODERATOR why does it take u a half hour to belittle my question but you just sit back with name calling like "JACKASS!"....

Back to the real subject....How bad is the lag on the T3/T4 and do u have to get a special manifold for the ball bearing turbos.

Your question is obviously poorly formulated, as you are going on tangents. I was calling Matt a jackass (as one who understood context in grammar would see), so wipe the sand out of your woman places. Hell, I even quoted him. Narrow down your choices, identify a solid goal, and ask again.

The reason this turbo question isn't very good is because the comparison contains way to many options. You covered every turbo from a daily runner up grade/auto - x turbo to all out race gas straight line turbo's. If the comparison is between two similar turbo's it can be more logically analyzed.

I'm with the mod on this one.

Aw hell, cut him some slack, he's still on Chapter 1. We were all there at one point.

Hey Choad, want some good advice? Search.

Check out DSMtimes.org. You can kinda get a good idea there. It seems to me that FP's turbo's kick the most ass from looking at the times list. Anyways, I'm waiting on FP to finally put up some good info about there FP 2544 hint! hint! Robert LOL. I'm currently running the FP Big28 and love it. I just want more topend. So... I'm trying to decide on either the FP 2544 or the ole' faithful FP green, "aka" pump gas king!

From what I've heard, the FP3052 is one bad ass turbo. JDWawd got it and it looks awesome and from what the website lists, it looks like an awesome turbo.

I'm going to step it up to a 14b until I can get a PTE 50 trim. :thumb:

Which turbo would make more power out of these? T04E stage lll .63 AR or mitsubishi 20g. I noticed the 20g costs 300 dollars more than the T4 but from what i read the t4 will make more power but i was wondering what you guys thought and why the 20g costs more.

The 20G is probably also internally gated, whereas the T04E is probably set up for an external gate.
