LOL!!! Yeah I have a 94 ES Special Edition 167hp stock. After putting exhuast, intake, racing cat, headers, port and polish job, bored and polished intake and exhuast manifolds, plugs, wires, hotter ignition coils. and my car dynoed at 197hp and ran low 14's at Moroso in the 88-95 mph range. So yes NT's can be made fast (true not as fast as a turbo), but there are alot of options out there for us, especially that our engines are so close to the 4G63T, with new rods, pistons, headgasket, exhuast cam, and fuel upgrades, And when a turbo is bolted up and set to between 5 and 8psi, 240-280hp can be easily reached. My best friend and his 94 gs did it and because of the weight difference between it and the turbo models, dynoed at 285hp and ran a 12.151@112mph at Moroso. BUT BEST OF ALL WITH ALL THE MODS AND THE PRICE OF THE CAR, HE PAYED ONLY 3200 DOLLARS!!!!! NOW THAT IS WORTH IT! LETS SEE YOU TURBO GUYS BUY A CAR AND HIT 12.1'S UNDER 3200 DOLLARS!!!

I'd say get a FIPK or Injen intake, and go to a local exhaust shop and have them make you a 2.5-3 inch cat back and buy like an APEX muffler. And at NOPI they have coilovers made by #1 for like $136, so you can't beat that. And also, why does it matter if your car can't beat a turbo? They have a drag class that is no turbo no nitrous, so just make a hella fast n/t and enter that and win.

so far i've gotten the K&N FIPK Intake kit and that has given me more power. I just ordered an unorthodox racing underdrive pulley w/belts for $230 and hopefully they do something! cat back exhaust and cat. converter are possibilities too. Good luck

NT OWNERS UNITE! haha.

i noticed that sand14s talked about the pulleys. I talked to a guy at Mach V because i was thinking of getting them too and asked the question "would you put these on your car" and to my suprise. he said no. the lighten them and everything because they lack the harmonic balancer which can be dangerous, however, he did say that he had never heard of any problems with them, but he did know the problems they could create. i think buschur makes one with the balancer, but you might want to double check with Mach V. they have a really good faq on it. http://machv.com/tip11cranpul.html

later on.

You might want to get turbo intake and exhaust cams along with
the '94 special edition fuel injectors. This should give you around
30 "ponies" boost. It might be a full day job for some people but I
imagine you could get these parts for less than $400 by a good
margine. Just try a parts request on junkyarddog.com and you
should get several reply's the next day. The injector's you need
you'll need are 300cc's. And Just think you still can bolt on high flow
exhaust and intake still!

It's cool cause us N/T guys pay less $$$ for insurance, so we can put turbo on and ain't nobody gots to know about it. ;)

Another thing...people who bought turbo cars already paid 4g's more than we did (new, from dealer) so we can put aftermarket kots on ours, and for 4g's, youll end up with more than their 210hp. Know what I mean? (I'm not trying to be an @$$hole here either, just saying for instance.)

To ShastaBlasta14...
Look on eBay for good parts, that's what I've done. So far I have a Ractive CAI, HP Racing 4-1 Header, and A'PEXi RS cat-back. I've spent about 675 bucks. I honestly can't feel that much difference in power in my car, but I do know that after installing the intake, you can feel it a little bit. Good luck with your car!

You know what is really awesom about this thread?

Not everybody has made the usual ignorant "buy a turbo" comment.
Well done guys...

$400 =
- Ractive cold air intake (buy a K&N cone for it)
- Plugs, Wires
- Buy a dremel tool and port stuff.
- Tear out your cat. and replace it with a straight piece of pipe (if your local laws allow)
- Buy a cheap fireball style muffler (N1 ripoff)

I agree with starting with intake and exhaust, that is what i did. i ordered my apexi exhaust online and it only costed around 200$ and i got my intake online for around 100$. . just surf around.. you will find good deals if you look hard enough.

I agree that the trading for a turbo is stupid, when i thinks ours is better. Runn what you brung, and build how you want. Like everyone else said go with plugs, wires, intake, exhaust and all of this should be under $400 if done right, around $170 for muffler, piping from catback and install, intake around $70 for cold air, thats what i did, wires $40 and so on. I have alot of info on n/t engines and can get alot of parts, pm me with commetts or parts request.

Well I have a couple extra $$ laying around and would like to spend them on some car audio stuff. I currently have the stock Infinity deck, which is all right, and stock speakers. I rode in a friends car last night (1000w kennwood amp, and 2 RF 12's) and figured out what I was missing.

But.... Should I buy a new head unit now (alpine) and wait to get a Sub/Amp... or should I just go ahead with the sub/amp? What do you guys think.

Get the head first. Get a good Alpine with a really smart EQ and you'll be able to cut the bass out of your current speakers. That'll stop them from popping and rattling. You're subs and amp should match your musical taste, so after you hear what your regular speakers are putting out you should be able to pick a real good sub/amp combination. You may cansider picking up a small amp and sub, like an 8" with a 50-100 watt amp (Bazooka Triangle would be GREAT, stay away from the tubes) to help hold you over untill you can drop some real cash on a good bass box.

like i said just go buy almost any muffler being a universal one and get piping ran, with some minor mods it will fit no problem

although putting a new headunit in makes everything sound better, and yo ucan crossover a lot of shiznit, your still probably ognna blow your stock speakers. a lot more power coming to them.

just get universal.. make it fit.. depending on the size you may just have to mount it crooked a tad bit but's it's all good. i have univeral apexi n1.. paid 450 canadian for it but i love it to death.. sounds beautiful

ha ha, dude..stock speakers sound TERRIBLE. put em up to any componet set. they have light weights, the cones are made of [a thick] paper that can carry no bass. you have a good head unit, but thats only the start..

always start with a good HU....it's the brain of your music processing. but your system is only good as the weakest piece of equipment, so once you start building a system....i'm afraid you won't be able to stop. it gets addictive because there is always better and more you can do.

i wouldnt suggest nos on a completely worn older engine, do some reinforcing first, or there is a possibility of hurting somethin, maybe in a newer motor, you can run nos on no mods, but not on an older motor, atleast its not the smart thing to do.

i would look into the "smart" nitrous systems (like venom and Zex) that will keep from running the engine too lean. there is tons of info on their sites.

Ok, eclipx...I don't need a leasson from you, I know what they are made of. More importantly I know what I can hear. With my current HU my stock speakers sound great. I can live with them, because they are clean and clear, all thanks to the x-over. I've had many different component sets, Focals, JL, Alpine, Blau, Kenwood, Boston...I've tried just about every manufacturer, and I know the after market stuff sounds better. But with the proper frequencies cut, the stock speakers will sound great to the casual listener. I doubt very much that DSMWillyb want's to spend $5000 on his stereo this weekend. Get the head, It will hold you over untill you can upgrade. If you throw speakers at it first, you're going to have a crappy head sending crappy signals to good speakers...it's much better to have a great head sending clean signals.

as far as you $400 goes. . im startin with about the same, and these guys in here have a lot of great ideas, but i just found out that Hahn makes a turbo system for the 420a which is what i think im gonna keep savin towards, so throw that $400 in the bank, and collect some interest
