I have what APPEARS to be a stock alarm system on my 1990 Talon TSi AWD that I just bought. I went to the Chrysler dealer today to check if maybe I could get a new alarm fob from them because the guy I bought it from lost his back in 1992. I'm pretty sure it's a stock system because there's a little dash light that says "security" and pretty much every Talon TSi I've seen comes with an alarm. The dealer says "There were never stock alarm systems on the early Eagles" but i'm pretty sure he's just misguided...
My question is...there were factory alarm systems in 1990, right? So where can I get a new alarm key fob? Mitsubishi dealer? I was goinig to try one but the closest one is 35 miles away and I didn't feel like taking the trip today, but I guess I will later in the week if it's what I should do... Are the aftermarket ones worth it? If so, which one should I get?
Thanks a lot for the info

Yes there where factory alarm systems in 90. Yes the security light means it's a factory alarm unless someone rewired that light in your dash to work with an aftermarket alarm. Don't buy parts for your car at a Chrysler or Dodge dealer, they're more expensive than Mitsubishi dealers, and the parts guys at Mitsu know a lot more about the cars and parts in them!

Actually, my car doesn't have a FOB available for it. It does have power locks, but not remote. I don't think there was a remote entry available for the 1990's...but I wasn't in the market back then. I just know that my alarm does not have the remote, nor the ability to use one.

Really? That sucks, I was hoping that I could have a remote entry type of keyfob. Oh well guess i'll just go aftermarket to get one of those eventually. At least I know the alarm is working though. Thanks for the info.
