hi, i posted b4 about which exhaust to get, i pretty much decided on the apex-1 dunk 115, because it's not too loud and doesn't give up to much performance. I found one for around $480 or so. However i came across the RnR racing catback for $350, however is not stainless steel, so it's probably gonna rust but is mandrel bent and has recieved high praises. i kinda like the rnr also because of the muffler also , it's oval shaped like stock ones, so i'm assuming it would be a quiter and i dun hafta worrie about scraping because it won't hang low. my question is, is the extra money worth it to make it stainless steel, i mean the amount would just come out the same actually if i chose the stainless steel option. so which one do u guys recomend. I reallie like both, and a blend practicality and performance is the name of the game..(well to me hehe:D )

Well I don't worry about rusting much in AZ. So I don't care about stainless steel.

but since it snows where i live dun i hafta worrie about it? i'v heard of some people just painting it, is that ne good?

Don't go with the Dunk unless you are a pure show car. IF you want power, N1. Nice big chrome showy lame ass muffler, Dunk. As for the N1 holding up to severe weather.....I don't know, I'm in Cali. But the N1 is the power model, not Dunk.

If it snows there, get stainless steel. No way around it. Just think about the sand/dirt/gravel that is used to get snowy and icey roads back into a somewhat drivable condition and then think about your exhaust. I would hate to pay 400 dollars for an exhaust I was replacing next spring. Just my .02

Stainless steel is also lighter. They can use thinner materail because it is stronger. Just thought I would share that.

stock mufflers are aluminizred and they last for a while 8-9 years or more depending how ofter you drive on snowy/salty roads so its not like 1 winter is gonna kill it. I live in buffalo and the muffler on my car was only changed once in 11 years and that was only like last year. so dont be too afraid of the aluminized but if you got the $$$$ stainless is a better bet.

I say go with what you want! Looks should have a lot to do with what you buy! I personally like having at least a polished 304 stainless muffler. If you just want performance and don't care about looks or possible rust (alluminized last quite a while!) just make sure you're getting a straight through perf core, or slash core (In L2R's case) muffler, no baffles! Always remember with a turbo car bigger IS better! :D

Go to your local hardware store and buy some high-temp BarBQ grill paint. The color is up to you. Before you install your aluminized exhaust, paint the whole thing with 2 or three coats and you will be fine. My dad and I used to have the hardest time (1 a year) keeping an exhaust on our 76 Datsun pickup sleeper (400 small block). Trust me this works, I live in western PA where they dump like 10 tons of salt on the road everyday in the winter. It's been 3 years now and the exhaust still lokks brand new. As far as the link between the aluminized pipe and the stainless steel muffler, just get a little extension so that when it rusts out it is easier to replace than a whole section of pipe, either that or you can put a flange on the end and use a gasket.

jbill is on da' money!! The barbeque paint will withstand like anywhere from 1200-200degrees, and you can paint it a variety of colors. If you really dont care about looks, just paint a couple coats of black, and bolt it together. I live in az as well and am least likely to get rusted/corroded here, but we painted my brothers N1 anyway.

Say someone hating on the dunk awhile back, I like my dunk, and i'm far from showy guy that likes shiny stuff. not loud n' annoyin. kinda like a sleeper exhaust.

anyway painting it a good idea, one of those dsm sites did an install an painted it with bbq grill paint to prevent rust.

I use exhaust paint (cost the same) because it comes in alluminum, but I did use BBQ paint on my Pacesetter header on my S12 when the cheap crap they put on there started to flake off. It works great! :D
