Ok guys lets face it..most of the n/t's r slow as heck..but i was wondering if ne1 knows if the short ram air will make much differnce compared to a cold air..thanks

I have heard also that the short rams are no good on our n/ts i had one and when it was a hot day out especially you could tell of the start it was nothing but hot air coming in. I now have an EBAY brand CAI and i love the improvement overall, i would recomend getting a CAI over the Short rams any day, its a definate night and day difference

I have a ractive one and the pipe seems to extend a little lower down than say AEM ones Ive seen...I may be wrong tho ~shrugs~But Im pleased with mine 90 bux ;)

I'm considering bying a cold air intake as my first mod...any suggestions on which kind?

You won't find one for you car.

ok guys so lead me in the right direction..should i go for a ebay type cai or wut

I had a short ram and all it did was give me a nice sound. I have a AEM CAI and you can feel it kick in around 3k. Ebay or name brand is more your choice. But remember you get what you pay for.

What's thece? average price?

i got mine off EBAY shipped and everything included, Pipes REALLY nice K&N style filter not like a cheapy looking one chrome end and good filter material, the mounting bracket and some really good couplers for the pipes to come together. All this for 48$ actual intake price was 28$ but then shipping and insurance brought it up, but i still say if your short on money then this is what you should look into for now, i can definately feel the difference around the 3k rpm mark as well she has a great tone at 6k rpm almost like a vtec

Cyndi. Its true, you wont be able to find a cold air intake for N/T 1G's. Its a choice of making your own or.........not buying at all.

dude come on short ram does nothing for your car...maybe a nice sound. The cold air actually relocates the filter to the bottom of the car where the hole is (on the 95-96 models) at the bottom of the car. so colder air gets in, not the engine bay air which is like a million degrees. When i got mine on i could definately tell a difference, 35k RPM it just start to rip until about red line, hope this helps...oh ya, dont get a cheap one, get an AEM or injen, i got AEM and its sick as hell

well in that case I'm SOL....thanks 4 letting me know. I was getting tired of looking. I'm planing on getting a turbo setup for my car, at the time i have a garrett t3/t4 that I was planning on putting in but i'm not sure of what i want to do yet :thumb:

cyndi- the only place ive ever seen any type of intake system for the 1g nt is ebay, its a short ram and a knock off brand.

I bought a CAI off ebay, it doesnt fit perfectly, since the first pipe isnt bent far enuff over. u do feel a little(i mean little) gain. then i bought a mufler off ebay and had a 2.5" inch cat back welded on. what a waste of money. your getting what u pay for and u cheap out on parts ur cheaping out on ur performance, go with an Injen or AEM cold air intake. and if u cant afford a cold air name brand just wait. dont blow ur money off with knock offs. i got myself a Injen CAI (150), Pace setter Cat back(204) and pace setter header (160) and it was well worth it, it was a much more noticable pull compared to knock off ebay and custom weld cat back. if you wanna get crazy and spend ALOT of money u could go with the Greddy 4-1 header which prolly perfroms better then the pacesetter, and pick up a Apex n1 bomb cat back or a Greddy evo cat back. neway have fun

I've been building cars for years, but I just bought my first DSM, I've heard you can put a turbo throttle body on a n/t 1G, is this true? and if so, could you get a CAI for it then? would it do any good?

Forgive me if this is an ignorant question, I can build you a 1400 hp 350, but I've been reading on yalls site for a couple days and I'm just now figuring out all your abbreviations!!

thanks for the help.

Brad

Even with the turbo throttle you wont be able to put a CAI on because ther is no place for them. THey simply dont have any available either.

This is what I get for leaping for researching.... thought I got a hell of a deal on the car ($1000), but didn't know it'd take this much $$ to get it to outrun my lawnmower.....

Thanks for the help!!

it takes alot to make a NT go fast without a forced induction. even the "stage 1" before forced induction your car will not be going fast. and if u plan on turbo dont bother with a header.

oh and i got my first 1g turbo for 1300, so i dont think 1000 what much of a deal.

I have found the solution!! Gonna turn the n/t into the "F & F" "pretty" car that my wife is wanting... and going to start looking for an awd to make the way that I want it to be!

Again, appreciate the help, hope to start picking your brains when I get an awd.... have checked into a few, but haven't found "the one" yet.

Thanks for letting me know especially on the CAI i had been looking around to buy one but if isnt bent far enough i'm not gonna waste my money and take it to get it bent right....does either injen or AEM actually make cold air inrakes for 1g though i checked out the injen website and I couldnt find one for my car, but if they make them then i'll jump straigh to it....I'm already saving up for a Greddy 4-1 header....eventually it should pay off at the track, but you never know with DSMs

I payed $900 for my 92 talon n/t but I think it was worth it so far

injen makes a short ram intake for 1g nt's. the turbo and n/t throttle bodies are the same...both 60 mm so you could use an upper intercooler pipe as a cold air intake. it would put your filter in where the intercooler on a turbo car would go. you would need to fab a bracket to hold on the mas and air filter but im sure there would be a decent increase. also you could use heater ducting off the front fender to make a ram air intake.....the possibilties many.....just fool around and see what works best. oh, and getto is ok in the dsm world......
