Is it time to get a Grand National? Or T-type?

Why not?

Im looking at a few GNs and T-types this week.

Anyone know of good forums?

Ive been to a few but im just checking. I know a good bit about them so I think I can purchase a good one.

I also may go the project route, This local guy I know has 2 T types and a solid non-t, buick. Extra motors ,trans , hoods ,parts. I really cant resist. Im going to check um out tomorrow. Then some GNs over the next week. I think I may go with a T type and mod it rather then waste a GN. I may just make it look like a GN, Im not out to collect one, or show it. Just show the tail lights.

I just want a nice T44 under the hood and tire patches in front of my garage. :)

What are peoples thoughts on them? I know they are old and ugly to most people but its realy an auqired taste.

But so is going 10s.....

I wanna race Dave Buschur if I get one. He has some T-types that will put 99% of dsms or dsms hes worked on to shame.

i love grand nationals..... the doo wheelies stock and are built like a fuggin tank

now I need to grow a mullet.

Dont turn this into a chat forum guys. ;)

But ima have to agree, I think a GN looks awsome and owning a 10 second car that looks like that would be sweet.

I personally like the idea.

mt bro just finished his Grand Nizzi!
i'll get pics...
*searching*
*takes break*
*forgets what he was going to do*
*1hr later they will be posted*

If you know someone with engines and tranny's and wanna go the project route, what about dropping it into a 3rd gen f-body? It couldn't be too much modification since the 89 aniversary Trans Am had that motor. You'd probably need an aftermarket hood though. I think clean 3rd gen Firebirds look bad ass, but most around here are rusted up beaters. And you could ask people if they wanna race your v6 firebird haha

nope...a t-type or GN motor should stay in their respective cars...the looks go with the engine IMO. Go for it Tom, and I wanna see lots of pics.

Yeah man Go for it love the T-type's/GN's/Regal Limited's with the turbo 3.8L/the Turbo Trans Ams. Two of my friends each own one and I love them! I will own one ofe these cars one day oh yes I will own one of these cars one day! :D There is nothing like getting behind the wheel of one of these cars and get tracton off the line then the tires suddenly break loose when the boost kicks in. The compressor surge on these cars just sounds amazing too :D

Here are some pics of my buddy's two turbo regals: the burgandy one is an '86 T-Type and the black one is an '87 Turbo T, The other black car on the left of the third pic is an 81 Malibu, with a 383 stroker. :thumb:

However for all you hardcore standard tranny guys these's cars only come with autos.

next year i'm going hunting to beat these two cars with my stang :D

It can't be all that bad going out to buy one of the fastest if not the fastest production car built in the 80's! :D :thumb:

hmmmmm

Tom are you selling your GSX and getting a GN? i am confused.....

Im getting a 3.8t, I dont know the future of my car. I may sell it and get a 98 tsiawd.

Just so you know they are $10K cars. You can either buy one for $4K and put $6K into it or buy one for 10K and leave it alone. You can't beat the fact that for $500 in mods you can get close if not into the 12's. DO NOT get the "hotair" version.. non intercooled. It isn't worth it.

This is a great board to learn: http://www.turbobuick.com/

As far as swapping one in... most of the parts are interchangeable. The heads are different though... and a few other bits and bobs.

If you have any questions email/PM me. TTA included.

OH, why the hell would you buy a t-type and mod it to look like a GN? They are the exact same thing!! The t-type's are more rare and are a TRUE sleeper. You will be able to get a GN for less money and more of a car than you would a t-type.

We have a grand national at the local Voational school, it has a 440 in it. it rips
