My buddy recently picked up a 93 civic, with gsr tranny and ls head. He is determined to swap a turbo in it, and he has picked the 14b as his turbo of choice, i keep telling him its going to be insanely expensive to hook it up, probably twice as much then all the parts needed.
What i told him i would ask is;
1. What is needed, if anyone knows
2. Is it even slightly reasonable to assume this has any chance of working, personally i think the gains will be so small for the cost, but hey thats just me.
And oh ya there no way he will buy a talon hes hooked on civics.
Thanks.

Actually some of the Honduh engines seem to bolt up to a factory Eclipse turbo setup with minimal effort. Guess they have found a cheap alternative to buying a kit. Here's the link one of them posted on our board for mainly Prelude and Accord engines...

Honduh turbo setup

yeah i am helping my buddy put a 14b on his civic right now. Its easy. He is using a lot of dsm parts (stock injectors, 14b, o2 housing, stock downpipe peice, intercooler, bov) Its pretty cheap to hook up. He can use a crx hf manifold and adapter plate and the turbo bolts right up. Then you get a custom downpipe welded. Run the appropiate intercooler piping, hook up the oil and water lines and your good to go.

you also need a system to get the car to read boost. It cost around 100 dollars.

Am i right in saying the Ls motor he has, has low compression? and would be best for turboing, I'm actually starting to believe this is possible, I just need to find a auto wrecker with some 1g dsm's...
What would be needed to swap off the Ls to home a turbo, i think its kinda unfortunate he already has aftermarket headers, which I am sure will need to be replaced. What manifold would be best to utilize, in order to hook up the turbo?
Also, I was thinking that max boost would be close to 6 psi, to much??
Thanks All, Lots.

next they'll be arguing that they are more of a dsm than the 420a's:rolleyes:

www.homemadeturbo.com bunch of my buddies use these guys methods mostley the hf w/ adapter plate and dsm parts works well and cheap

buddy of mine is using 14b turbo w/ dsm sidemount custom piping stock dx engine and an hks ssq in his civic hatch and is beating gt mustangs at 5-6psi so hes only got about 130hp w/ turbo

k lemme tell u why ur buddy is doing everything backwards. 1 gsr tranny and turbo..of the honda trannys gsr has very short gears. id recommend an ls trans for boost. he has an ls head...um a b16a head will outflow that sucker anyday (what most people dont know is that a b16a head and a type-r head are pretty much identical in flow rates. and im not sure what block he's running but lets hope to god its an ls block, because of the low compression and it's torquey nature. also the 440cc injectors are going to be overkill on that 14b eeing it's a honda and probably going to be running low boost. i've seen plenty of boosted hondas getting away with 310cc. good luck tho

i'd say that he could pick up dsm injectors for wayyyy cheap though.

yea #### it if he gets a good deal on them why not? just make sure he got a way of leaning them out. remember 440's arent shit to us, but they pretty big for a honda

i sold him my old stock injectors just recently for 40 bucks.
and damn this thread is old, and damn my buddy still has no turbo civic, but he now has my old 14b, bov flange, and injectors.

LOL just tell your friend to get Type R head n Ls bottom. When they do the engine you could do the Internal work while the engine is open for turbo set up. I kno few buddy has that set up and alot of people is doing that set up. If your friend do that it will be one fast car i'll tell you~ Da fastest Type R head n Ls bottom with Turbo set up with bolt on part i seen it run mid 12s~

ohh nah im not hating at all, just tryin to give a lil usefull advice, i've built 3 all motor bubbles, and 2 boosted ones (1s/c other turbo) so just offering a little advice based on experience with them.
