I thinking of getting a new BOV, my 1g BOV just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Which BOV is the loudest one around???

Thanx

The turbo xs rfl, or R-eal F-ucking L-oud bov. I have it, and besides a little jerky shifting, its great, a definate head turner.

yea my friend has the RFL on is 91 eclipse...it sounds real ### to me...sounds like a musket shot kind of, no whistle or woosh just a boom....my HKS ssqv is very loud and sounds awesome when it flutters....i let go on my friend in his supra last week going the other direction and he said i almost made him deaf....IMO, the hks is the way to go, but its hard finding a UICP or adapter for it besides the HKS site

I will also say the loudest vented is probably the TurboXS RFL.. but i would not get that bov because i would like to be able to have an option to recirculate when i feel like running my car the right way :)

as for what is loud recirculated.. now i can vouch for this..

I use to have an HKS SSQV vented to the atmosphere.. HELLLLLLLA LOUD.. but once i recirculated it via the HKS RECIRCULATION FITTING.. it is very quiet.. you can still hear it somewhat if you listen closely.. its more of a low flutter sound though.. i have now switched to a Greddy Type S.. vented that is also noticible loud in it's own way.. and recirculated.. it's still noticible.. so i would have to say the Greddy Type S as one of the loudest recirculated..

Um you can recirculate these bov's all you need toi do is unscrew the horn part and get a pice that screws right in that has some length to it so you can put hose over it..one of my friends do it...either way RFL is ghey..

Turbo XS RFL is by far the loudest and best. Doesn't sound like a turkey like the ones that flutter.

The RFL is the loudest BOV. I had on on my car and except for all the issues associated with venting and the crappy way that it mounts on it was a nice BOV.

I have a HKS SSBOV...That shit is damn loud and has a sweet sound vented...recirculated it is quieter than stock....

My friend has the Greddy Type R (the big valve)....that shit is louder than anything i heard....

Does any one own one? I looking to pick one up...and i wanted some experiences...

To Keep My HKS or Try Out the Greddy Type R...?
Any one have any opinions? Heard any review? bad remarks about either?

(Im venting via mas translator blow thru)

I have a turbo xs type-h and it is pretty f***ing loud and sounds pretty cool. It, however, vents to the atmosphere.

its MY CAR.. i use to have a RED 98 GST.. u can see that in my Gallery as well.. ;) dont question me playa! why would i stoop so low to do something like that and put a pic of someone elses' car and claim it to be mine.. OR.. ic ould just be running an FP RED TURBO.. OMG :thumb:

I hear the Greddy Type R is for race applications running large amount of boost because the spring is a lot stiffer for it or something.. and the Type S is more than enough for "MOST" people..

My brother has the Greddy Type S on his laser and it kicks ass. It is so F*ckin lound, and its still pretty loud when you recirculate it.

Just a side note, why do only some people's signiture pics come up. I can only see a couple of them.

I have an RFL with all the washers it. Still very loud and hold boost on my 60-1 fine. Sprng pressure is good for my use and this time, My next BOV is a Greddy Type R

Question:

I got my Hands on a Greddy Type R For dirty cheap....
My pipe is flanged with a 1g flange...I was told that I could Just drill and tap the flange to sit the greddy on it....But i noticed the hole opening on the flange is smaller than on the BOV...The BOV will sit and seal...but...

I was wondering if it makes any difference that i use the 1g flange or the Greddy flange? if it would cause a problem? any ill effects?

I know many 1g owners run the Greddy Type S on a 1g flange and have to tap the holes....

Thanks

I don't like the sound of the RFL. I heard it on my friends' WRX and it sounded like a quick rush of air that was kinda blah and not as loud as the name implies. I like my HKS, it's a pull type so it won't wear out over time unlike what I've heard of the GReddy and especially Turbo XS. Turbo XS is junk, if you've ever installed/handled one of their BOV's, they bolt on to their flange using 3 hex screws (could very easily leak) and the valve is just a spring loaded piston that has problems keeping lubed so it'll wear down over time. I've heard of people just using some WD-40 on the piston and it'd be fine, but that's more maintenance than I'd ever like to do, especially on just a BOV. I bought my HKS because the return nipple that goes back to the intake mani snapped off twice so I decided to just upgrade, and since there weren't any 1G's in the local junk yard, I couldn't just yank one off of them and I didn't want to order just a 1G BOV.

how loud is the stock 1g bov if its vented and not recirculated (im gonna use the gm maf w/ translator on a blow thru system so i dont need to recirculate)
