whats up guys ive been searching for weeks now in the classifieds, ebay, dealerships, autotrader, etc.. and i have yet to come across a stock 1g gsx with low miles thats in my price range (2-5k) maybe im just looking in all the wrong places but i keep looking everyday to find the perfect one thats within a reasonable distance . also what are some things i should look out for? who/what should i bring if i go to look at one...

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

o yea and whats the best way to sell my current car?

i actually just read that entire thing and found a lot of helpfull info, nice job man thanks...i just talked to my dad and i have $4,000 to spend on a 1g dsm (i need to keep 1000 in the bank for college ;) so hopefully i can find a nice one soon and enter the wonderful dsm community for real :rocks:

if you guys find one let me know, if your not buying it yourself i mean LOL

hey what is up. Nice to see a Jersey guy LOL. Anyways, I recently got one...about a month ago. for 2500 it is in DECENT shape, nothing great. Interior is pretty crummy (the seats that is) but the junkyards around here are good.

My engine and tranny have about 120K on it but the guy sold it for a few stupid issues I think. There are problems with it, but if you can figure your way around, should all work out good. Feel free to get in touch if you find one and need to get some work done. A great guy in here up in Newark has gotten a lot fixed on mine and now I can drive it...WOO HOO.

I'd look for one for about $3000, and then use the other $1000 for maintenence. Trust me, you'll need it. Other than that, just stay patient. It's a virtue... You'll eventually find one that's EXACTLY what you're looking for. Just don't lose patience and you'll find it.

Yea, dude, I have been looking for a year, and I just found one that meets what I want.. With time you will find an amazing DSM...

thanks guys new jersey representin woot woot!!! haha but i realize that patience is key to finding a perfect dsm but the only thing is i wanna sell my current car and buy a dsm within 2 weeks (before i go to college) and i want to sell my car and buy a dsm within a very close time period. being patient is getting really hard im going to have to find something a little less than perfect and settle for it then fix it up....id rather have a dsm that needs a little work than having no dsm at all ;)

im big on the maintenence idea too ill drive it stock for about a month to make sure everything is in good running order then ill go with the stage 1 upgrade path

Good luck with your search, my dad just bought a 1-owner 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 6/4 5-spd with only 57k miles on it. It was garaged its entire life, its never seen snow, and rarely has it seen rain. He got it for $3500 I believe, which is a hell of a deal for how nice it is.

They are out there.

yeah they are i find maybe one or 2 but they were either overpriced or too far away....one was in south dakota haha im not paying 1,000 to get it here even though i was tempted. ill try to be patient but if i find something that looks deecent im gonna go for it because im getting close to the deadline

It's good to see the New Jersey group growing:thumb: Best advice I can give you guys is to be patient and thoroughly investigate any car you are considering.
After I sold my 97 gs I bought an 04 rsx...two months later I was looking for another eclipse. It took me 9 months to find a gst that had low miles and was unmolested/modded. So, just be patient and the right dsm will come along:cool:

Hey you wouldnt happen to be a member of 92lude.com would you? Any who i bought my dsm for 750 bucks but its my project car. But ive seen some nice looking 1gs around for about $3000. But how far are you looking to come to get a car? Because i have a friend that owns a used car lot. And he gets cars cheap so i could get you a deal. But i dont think you wanna come to FL to get a car LOL. But good luck man.

I had a buddy who delivered pizzas and he foud mine sitting in someones yard. It was relatively clean with the usual rust in the quarters and fenders but for $200 I couldn't pass her up. It needed a tranny but ran good and was untouched. Just keep a close eye out and don't limit yourself to dealerships and the autotraders. For the kind of money you've got saved up you could pick one up dirt cheap and use the extra cash to repair and modify it. As soon as you get one some things should be addressed. Number one is the timing belt and tensioners! Don't believe anything the previous owner tells you. Change this as soon as you get the car. While your doing the t-belt, do the water pump, balance shaft belt and tensioner, and check for any leaking cam seals and crank seals.

haha yeah i used to go on 92lude.com a lot but i sold my prelude and am moving on to bigger and better things...ive been searching for lasers, eclipses and talons everyday making inquiries and just waiting for that perfect one to come up, hopefully ill get lucky and find her :)

how exactally would one define "unmolested" in these terms? in my experience, i have found that the CT people like to use this term quite a bit, but the definition is hazy to me.

If you think about it, for a car that's over 15 years old, 117k is not that many miles. It sounds like a good deal to me. There's nothing wrong with starting in a $2000. Just offer them that cash that day. They'd most likely accept, but if they don't, they'll just end up bargaining with you. So you'll get a good price anyway.

id get it, 2500 for a awd in that condition is a good deal, my car costed me 3000 and it had 105k on the odometer, and i needed another 1000 just to get it running good and clean looking ) new breaks, tires, belts, fan, etc. ) and now im dropping a 6bolt engine in that ive been building up. But I would jump on that deal quickly especially since you say your on a time limit, might not find something in that price range again for a while... And even if it did cost you 25, you therefore would still have 3500 to spend on fixing it and getting it up to your standards, and from there you can start contemplating mods and what the cars going to be used for,, your going to be out of all your money either way though these cars are constant projects, especially to those who race.

I really have to agree with what brute said earlier about patience. I had my heart set on a 2g turbo awd dsm with low miles... not a common thing but I didn't want to comprimise. I looked on autotrader, cars.com, in the newspaper etc. for over a year until I found what I was looking for, and I now couldn't be happier with it. So keep looking and hold out for what you want, because you'll be glad you did.

unmolested as in no mods or hasnt been raped by the previous owner...i guess im a hypocrite though because im really thinking of buying this one in the classifieds in this site heres the link-

"raped" - as in, severely beating on the car (aka driving it hard all the time)? or perhaps you mean no body damage/engine damage...
