Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

hi...i have a 95 talon esi with 85k miles and i thinking of boosting it...my question is which turbo is good to start with that i can still use the car as a daily driver and wont have to do any work on the internals. I have found a few used t3/t4 turbo kits and garret super 60 turbo kits for around $1000. T am trying to make around 200+ hp out of this car but yet i dont want to do any work on the stock internals. I would like to hear any suggestions you have for a good starter turbo kit. Thanks

yea mike its me...i must say you did a really nice job with your car. My car is off the road right now and is just sitting in my driveway and i figured i should make a project out of it while i still have my truck to drive.

Okay I am new to DSM's but I know some what about them. Okay I have a 96 tsi awd talon with a 1st gen 6 bolt with a 2nd gen head. I just installed a cometic head gasket and had a valve job done. My head is ported and I have FP2x cams with dual valve springs and Ti retainers. So I can run high boost and not blow a head gasket. I also have a 255 walbro fuel pump and high flow injectors and a fuel pressure regulator. Oh I also have a big front mount. I think that is pretty much it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what turbo I should get??? I was thinking about the FP3065.

yeah i sent in my ecu in to get dsmlink and yeah i have stock internals but they are 1st gen and my friends car is a 2nd gen with a stock 6 bolt which is the 1st gen block in it and he is runnin mid 11's runnin 26 psi and i thought about a 16 g but i would really like a down facing turbo

The main thing to keep in mind is what is your goal or main use for the car. If it just a drag car and it wont be on the street you can go big. If you want a Daily driver a evo 3 16G with your set up you should have plenty of power. What kind of turbo is your buddy running. Also you need to know what size injectors you have if they are only 550 you may need bigger depending on your goals. A good tune is a very important, a wideband o2 sensor is good to tune with. A 6 bolt is not bullet proof. good luck.

Well yeah , you got a built head, but you are going with a big turbo on stock internals??
Your next upgrade should be "FINE TUNING", and DATALOGER. EVOIII 16G is a nice turbo for your setup.

i can smell the rubber allready ROFL doh!:beatentodeath:

in all seriousness, the evo3 is one of the best street turbos made for dsm's IMHO , im running it now

Yeah my car is going to be on the strip a lot and i do have a wide band for my gm maft that is connected to dsm link or will be once it gets back to me in the mail. I will do some reasearch on the evo III and get some reviews

Evo III hits hard all the way to redline. Mine spools at around 2800 rpms. Its probably the best street turbo imo but eventually you are going to want more. Considering your friend is running 11's...if thats your goal, it will be very difficult with the E316g. If you want to break into the 11's fairly easy why not go with a 50 trim?
Also since you are going to be going to the strip alot if you have the money get an even bigger turbo. You're getting dsmlink so injector size wont be a huge issue and tuning will be much easier so if i was in your shoes and had the money id get a huge turbo!!

Ok guys Im planning on building a 2.3ltr stroker and my only dilema is I'm not sure which turbo I'd like to run. My goal is 400whp or a little more, or a 11.9. Turbos I have looked at are PTE 50trim and 57 trim BB, Fp green, and FP3575 (might be overkill). I would like a street monster and something good for the track as well. I know all about the supporting mods I want this is just the hard part :D. Also I'm doing 8.8:1 comp with Manley I beams and Wiesco pistons. I'm mainly asking whats the most bang for the buck.

Thanks in advance for all your help.
Adam

If you don't care about the quicker spool - get the PTE 50 trim or FP green or even FP red. I'd go with FP turbos over the 50 trim non-ball bearing simply because I have not heard one bad thing about an FP turbo.

If you want quicker spool for street use (I'm not talking about street racing) - get the BB turbo (57trim or FP3575).

I would go with either the PTE 57trim BB or the FP 3575.

If you don't want the spend more money on FPs o2 housing for the 3575 and want use a DSM style o2 housing, then get the BB 57trim.

I wouldn't go any smaller than a PTE 57 trim if I were you. I run a 50 trim on a 2.4 and I definately want to go bigger. Spool is quick but this turbo can't keep up with my other mods. You can achieve your goals with a 50 trim but it WILL be harder; I speak from experience.

You should get some cams also.

How in the hell can you debate between a 50 trim and a 3575?

"Hello, I was wondering if should keep the T25 or if I should run a T70. Thanks!"

Whats your budget? The 3574 would defently be overkill for 400 whp. Are you looking for super fast spool or is spool not such an issue? Depending on your budget and if spool isn't a huge issue (not that these would give you a tonn of lag anyways on the 2.3) but I would look at a red or 3065, then you have some room to grow as well.
