Hey guys..

I went racing last night for the first time ever. Ive always just watched, but since I got my GSX, Ive started to race. I have a 99 GSX and its basically stock....Dejon UICP, Greddy BOV, and the boost selenoid mod (MBC to be installed tonight). My best (and first) run was a 15.6 @ 87 w/ a 2.2 60'. Just wondering if this isnt bad considering its my first time ever racing at the strip, let alone with a car that ive had for less than a month LOL. Could my 60fts get better even with the stock clutch? Any tips on how to launch? The 2.2 60' was about 4000rpm and slipped the clutch. But hey Im still learning:p

Not bad man just takes a while to learn once you get the hang of it you will see 1.8-1.9 60 ft times. Which can bring you down on your times. First I would work on learning to drive it. Then you can work on your mods.:rocks:

I would launch around 5k at the track with a small amount of slipping. You should beable to pull under 2.0 60 ft times with AWD. My mechanic with a fully stock Galant used to pull 1.7's all day.

first time i went to the track i hit a 2.0 60' at at 5000 launch, now i hit a 1.9 60' at 5000 with basically the same set up, i just learned how to slip the clutch better and drive my car better im still tryin to get it lower just havent been to the track since may

Practice more. You'll be able to drop at least a second off your time. I hit a 1.6 my first time ever racing a long time ago :)

Even with a stock car and with the stock clutch?

If im not misstaking the gsx is turbo so how am i running this .... I have a 96 eagle talon Esi and i run 15.8s to 16flat ... That was my first night out too.

not bad for owning it for a month, but you can definitly improve your 1/4 and60ft. your stuck clutch will not take the abuse over and over at the track as well as an aftermarket clutch, so search around for a full face clutch (street disc) such as exedy stage 1, act 2100 or 2600, sbr 3500, etc. also consider an exhaust upgrade to let your turbo breath alittle better, or even a 14b (stock 1g turbo that will bolt on with a 2g install kit) for alittle more power all around. have fun modding!

Leave first for secound at 7000rpms, then after that shift at 5700, and leave it in 3rd threw the traps. Buddy ran 14.5@94 with a 2.0 60ft, bone stock in his 96 TSI AWD.

Friend of mine pulled a 14.7@90 with a 1.8 60' his first time out with a stock 1g if I remember correctly. All in all, going out there is what counts! I've had my car for years and have never bothered making a pass yet (always something left to be done).

Good job, but I don't think this is what the thread started was looking for. Anyway, if you can get those sixty times down a hair, and shift with the quickness, you will be amazed at what you can do with just a boost controller.

I have yet to take my GSX to the track, but being on the stock stall, I have a feeling my sixty foot times are going to suck. Did you have fun?

When i launch my car , i bring it up to the 6k studder let it build some boost then slip the clutch ever so slightly until i feel it start to engage then when i feels its engaged i just let it out, and last time at the track i pulled a 1.70 60' and i usually dont get anything but 1.7's

My first time to the track i cut a 1.88 60' with 13.3 first pass, i missed second because i was so nervous ROFL and the second pass i ran a 12.8 with an almost identical 60' practice makes perfect , you just gotta find your sweet spot.

In response to talonfreak, he is running those times in the 15s because he needs to practice more, like everyone says, practice makes perfect. Im running a similar setup to yours on my Esi, and ive busted into the 15s a few times as well, 15.89 recently in fact, so it just depends on the track conditions, your car, and more than anything practice., jsut my two cents..

Jeez...Im not so impressed with my times lately...

I ran a best of a 13.57 on a stock clutch, stock 14b and manifold/o2, completely stock motor, etc...

I could only break a 1.9 60' thru out the day, this stock clutch is not as invincible as others make theirs out to be...

I have to rev to 4000-4500rpm, and as the rpm's are rising and the revs get to 4500 ish I start slipping the clutch and press on the accelerator...My car doesnt like to be 'dumped', or to do some 6k launching, so Im having troubles getting those 1.7 and 1.8 60's that people are saying they get on stock clutches...

My car definitely slips above 4500rpm, at least last I checked, so until the spec/act whatever I put on, I just gotta keep easy on this stocker...It now has to live thru my new evoIII setup too...

Trying for high 12's on the stock clutch

Im sure my 3 bolt non-lsd rear end isnt helping much

i do 1.7 60 ft on my 150K 3 bolt at the track no problem

I guess that gives me some more confidence, but still, ^^^ your running an ACT Clutch...

I dont plan on pulling any 1.7's on my stock clutch anytime soon

Your MPH should be somewhere around 90-91mph, have you checked for boost leaks? Is your clutch slipping at all?
