My stock wastegate has given out, on my 1990 Laser, I wanna get it replaced ASAP but i cannot go with a stock wastegate because i cannot find one for cheap. I have a few questions about after market...
1) How do I install an after market with a stock t-25...pics please if anyone has them:)
2) I've been looking at both stock and after market, they both look alien to me ROFL i was just wondering how the after market one works because to me they look totally different.

Do you ever wish to upgrade your turbo? If yes then nows a good of time as ever. You could run a 16g and keep it at stock boost till you get upgraded fuel mods. Just some food for thought.

Great suggestion. I would upgrade the turbo if your gonna do the wastegate. It would make things better in the long run. But thats just my 2 cents.
 
Thanks, but if I am going to upgrade my turbo, I am kind of strapped for cash so like is there a turbo out there that will work with the stock set up without having to tune my computer and having to get a FMIC??

yes, a 16G as was mentioned already

also, the stock 1G turbo is a 14b. you mentioned a T-25 earlier so I just thought I'd clarify because I wasn't sure why it was mentioned
 
If by aftermarket wastegate you are thinking of a Tial type one then what you would have to do is either weld the flapper shut on your T-25 and weld a flange on your exhaust manifold( hard to do), or ditch your wastgate assembly on your T-25 and then Weld a Flang on your O2 housing while blocking off the part after the wastgate so you can still build boost. Neither of those are really easy, so it might be best to upgrade a few things while your in there, like get a new exhaust manifold with a flange on it or maby just a new turbo.


O, and about the turbo, as long as you stay off the boost then you won't have any problems for sure. You don't really need a FMIC either, it just doesn't heat soak as fast as the stocker does.
