I just want a fun reliable car with a little kick to it, when you 2g owners used the 14b how is it? can you feel a difrence? whats needed to install? was it hard? how much more did you like it than the t25?

I Have about 315 bucks and wanted to know whats needed to install a 14b on a 2g car.

You'll need an install kit for your 2G which you can find here:

http://www.turbochargers.com/store/...id=53&osCsid=429a2437e5982bbe34dd6db0e9be24d8

I haven't owned a 14B, but it's a great little turbo the spools quickly and flows more than your T25 did. For the money though, you could pick yourself up a used 16G and the install kit above for more power and more breathing room to grow in case you wanted to step it up in the future.

Either one will do well,

Andy

You just need to run it at a reasonable boost level which you can determine by installing a correct boost gauge, manual boost controller and a logger. On a stock setup, you should have no issues running a 14B or 16G at 14-15 psi. As mentioned, a logger is key in making your sure that you're not knocking.

Im swaping in a 14b somtime this week.

I really could care less about haveing a "big" 16 G or somthing larger because I love the super quick spool, and its great for auto cross or anything along those lines.

I've seen people run easy 12's on a 14b and even high 11's.

A budy of mine just did an 11.8 on a small 16g, with boost leaks.

a 14b isnt that far off of a small 16g, and you cant beat the price.

So far my swap has only cost me $15.24 (o2 gasket, manifold to turbo gasket, oil line gaskets, crush washers, down pipe gasket.) (fairly cheap because I work at mitsu)

Im trading an amp that I recieved as a gift, for the 14b. (I dont like systems)

I got my oil lines at the local junk yard for $0.00

All you have do is use your resources, and swaping in a 14 will be the greatest cheapest mod you could ever do.

I run a 14B at 18 PSI with alot of supporting mods and my car moves. I love it. Look at it like this, you will probably eventually want to go bigger...so get a 14B and then "support" your car. Thats what I did...I finally orderd a turbo 3 days ago now that I have all the supporting mods, but the 14 be has been/is fun.

I am currently running a 14B @ 16 lbs. I got it almost free from a junkyard and installed it just to keep me satisfied till I have enough supporting mods for something like a 20G or around that size. Definitely a huge improvement over the T-25. Like others have said, get an install kit and just do it. Its not hard at all, could be done in a day if you are totally inexperienced. IMO and I am sure other will agree a 14B is 10000000 times better then your stock T-25.

i did run into a problem when i installed my 14b, the oil return line has a like.... damn can't think of the word haha. like a coil there ya go. and it split leaked oil everywhere, was told it seems to happen quite a bit. so watch out for that. i cant wait to get the supporting fuel i need and a fmic to turn the boost up on the 14b and feel what it can really do

Did you drain the oil like you were soppose to?

yes, it just cracked. i fixed it by using a piece of 5/8ths hose and havent had any problems. just thought i'd ass that for others that might incounter this problem

1st run i had was against a wrx. which had beat my ass at the track the last time we ran i was on t25.. pulled car a half i was soo happy to beat him in an auto! haha. evo III 16g is probably more realistic to make power like 300whp. i know myself i'd like to shoot fo 270whp if possible on the 14b. but we'll see. just a goal

Im usin the 14b, love it. though i cant compare it to any other turbo because my car came with the 14b. im running 10 psi just to be safe until i check if the person before me has upgraded the fuel pump

rewired fuel pump. wouldnt recommend turning the boost up without a logger. but 15psi seems to be safe for me.

If you want to use your T-25 return line you have to dremmle out the bolt holes wider, I believe it was.:thumb:

I run a 14b in my 2g at about 16psi as my daily driver. I haven't even touched the tuning with DSMLink yet, but the 14b is still a kickass turbo. I've been mulling over whether or not I want to upgrade it eventually or just stick with it on my 2.0 and just take the turbo as far as I can until it (the engine OR the turbo ;) ) dies. Later I plan on getting a 2.3 and I don't think a 14b will be appropriate for it anymore. :)

It's my opinion that a lot of people snub the 14b in favor of a 16g, but I feel that the 14b is a good little performer that is underrated.
